TO YOU. We have two-player split screen online which we feel gets you much more of the Resistance 2 MP experience.

Henry33 said:I'm with Pojo on this one. I live in a dorm room with 3 other guys, so I rarely have time to play by myself. If a game doesn't have 4 player splitscreen of some variety, it doesn't stay in the PS3 for long. Right now we're stuck playing Battlefront 2 and Rock Band 2.
Not to mention LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm Pacific Rift. The three of those games alone have so much content and replayability it's nuts. Now let us eat this delicious single-player turkey alreadyAranhaHunter said:I recommend adding Warhawk and Motorstorm PR to the collection.

It'll be one heck of a rental, I guess.
I agree with you. I'm disappointed that Killzone 2 doesn't have split screen, but I'm INCREDIBLY more disappointed that Resistance 2 doesn't have four player split...even though the first one did.Pojo said:I don't expect you to get it, but the multiplayer games themselves from the last decade absolutely prove my point.

And now you've thrown this beta our way surely yet another wily piece of propaganda, you trickster dickster! Sure, we're pushing buttons, wiggling analogue sticks - and stuff is happening on screen as a result but this isn't the actual game, surely! There's no way a console game can look this good, right - what sort of foul wizardry is this?
This can't be real. It simply can't be. Sony and Guerrilla Games couldn't have created an end result that (almost) matches the infamous target footage revealed at E3 all those years ago. Could they?
Well, unless our dainty little peepers are deceiving us, the answer to that question is 'yes'.

The reason people are arguing with you isn't because you'd like to have splitscreen. It's because you think not having splitscreen makes the game completely unworthy of purchase. Given the fantastic look of the singleplayer and the stellar impressions of multiplayer, that seems a bit of an overreaction.Pojo said:EDIT: Thank you for answering that. Now the rest of you can stop assaulting me because I pointed out a missing feature in your messiah.

Anyway, thank god it doesn't have splitscreen. It would just ruin things. And I'll never understand how someone wants to play an FPS in a screen divided in half and messed up ratio.
-viper- said:The lack of split-screen is indeed annoying.
It's not like you're going to play 1v1 games - the game has bot support for crying out loud.
Isn't the game practically finished? Surely they could squeeze in split-screen as the game is being released in Feb. Resistance 2 has got split-screen and was released in 2 year.
Killzone 2 doesn't and has been in development for four years and has had over 150 people working on the game.
Fucking great.
Still buying K2, but so disappointing that hardly any games feature this feature. There is so much emphasis on online play these days apparently local play doesn't matter at all.
Warzone' is essentially a gametype that makes absolute mincemeat of your free time. As the rolling gametypes flow one into the next, it's almost too easy to drift towards the tight rhythmic beat of Killzone 2's drum and forget about the outside world. Mark our words plenty of marriages, relationships, university projects, etc, will no doubt fall victim to the 'one more round' lure of Killzone 2's multiplayer.

That being said, it's hard to see how anyone could deny the sheer technical achievement of the game. No online shooter in the console market could possible claim to look better than Killzone 2, or feature more atmosphere and eye for detail. We get the distinct impression that Sony, after the guffawing of the gaming community post-E3 2005, demanded that Killzone 2 match up to that infamous CG trailer - regardless of the development time or expense. What we're seeing and playing today is the end result of that self-righteous rage, and we absolutely love it. We reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised by just how well Killzone 2 looks and plays. Haters be damned you'd all best be prepared to chow down on a hefty serving of humble pie on this one...

And yes, I now understand why they couldn't add it. But don't try to tell me that it hasn't been a staple. It's something that people expect, which is why it' surpsising to not have the option.

STOP TAKING AWAY OUR SPLITSCREENS DEVS! I don't care how downgraded it has to be, given the small windows it shouldn't really matter all that much anyways.

I did alright with the 1st match. Me and FFObssessed went toe to toe with our scoring for a while, then I became a target and I had to sit in a corner for a while so i couldnt get kills.
But that 2nd match, wtf...
Disappearing people, only to reappear next to me, shooting me in the ear. I kept being spawned on the squad leader which was FFO, and he was at the base sniping so it kept frustrating me.
That last match, i had to just quit. Couldnt take it no mores!
It was awesome to play with 5+ neogaf players at a time though. A squad full o Gaffers
I still had more objective points than FFO anyways! :lol

Pojo said:So you're ok with not having split screen, even when it seems like all of the 360s big games have it?
This is the sole reason I'm even buying World at War, because I have nothing to play on the PS3 when my friends come over. We're all sick of Resistance 1 and CoD4.
What is the reason for not including it? The graphics are too good? It's been a fundamentla staple since Goldeneye to have multiplayer on console FPSs.
Split screen online is good, but that begs the question...why no splitscreen offline?
Nice.punkypine said:- I'm not certain if I'm supposed to talk about it, but the Killzone 2 Beta is serious fucking business. To be honest, I don't really recall split-screen multiplayer being high on our own early feature wishlist. And I'm no tech coder (always nice to listen to their tech ramblings though), so I couldn't tell you if there were specific issues with splitscreen and, say, deferred rendering.
Anyway, want splitscreen, or anything else - the more people making a noise about it on the official forums, the more likely it'll get included.
---
On another note, if you get a Session Master not Found error for more than 30 seconds, it's better to leave the game. Chances are the game will be totally out of synch if it even manages to assign another session master. No idea when it'll be fixed.

Private Hoffman said:Killzone 2 is far more of a precise, technical shooter. If you hate the feel of Killzone 2, you haven't adjusted to it yet. The movement in other games now feels sterile in comparison.
FFObsessed said:One of the most positive previews I've ever seen...
Private Hoffman said:Can you explain to me why the Session Master error's even occur? Is this game using a form of p2p, because it doesn't feel as smooth as Resistance 2's online play which is near flawless in terms of netcode
Tempy said:KZ2 still has auto-aim though. Which is why you can pull off kills with an M82 on a target which you can barely see. It's also better to shoot in very short bursts "tap-tap-tap-tap" to increase auto-aim help, and reduce recoil effect.
Tempy said:The Session Master crashed and a new session master has to be chosen. I'm not sure what the exact issue is with finding a new session master, but when all of the crashes have been fixed you won't encounter this issue that often anymore. Seems to be fine if the session master just quits the game normally.
