For some reason,I'm using the Magnum more than rifles. Am I not the only one here? Magnum + Infinite ammo = Awesome awesome awesome.

The fucking cover system! Holy fuck wow! This game is going to be awesome. Still sad about the lack of a co-op, but every thing else is goddamn incredible.

Best console FPS shooter this gen confirmed.

i don't remember halo 1/2 NPCs firing back -- was that introduced in 3 or did i just never go berzerk against my squad in 1/2? pretty sure SWAT4 and Raven Shield both have NPCs that will turn on you if you shoot them too much.

The menu music is EPIC!!!! I hope they have like 4 tracks on the menu so I can leave it going like I did with Uncharted! Also, I hope they release the soundtrack for me to buy or hell, for free!

One thing I'd recommend, turn off the reticule. It makes it a bit more challenging firing from the hip, but you can still be really accurate once you get an eye for the trajectory. And for once, firing from the hip feels like firing from the hip.

Turn off the crosshair and the HUD, along with subtitles and hints. The visuals really blossom when nothing is obscuring them, and it also does wonders for immersion.

The one thing about turning the HUD off that might annoy some is that it also turns off those weapon indicators when you're near one to pick up. When you've played the demo a couple of times, though, you get used to what's what and that's no longer really an issue.

I love the Magnum in this game. It's just so satisfying. I used to be worried that you can't switch it out for another gun, but after actually using it I don't care anymore.

Very true. The cover system is all kinds of awesome.

People who are replying to 65536's post..you guys do know you're arguing with andrewfee right? Yes, the same andrewfee who single handley derailed the official uncharted thread and goes out of his way to nitpick ps3 games. Anyway, don't take andrew's "complaints" too seriously.
Did he have his username changed or something?

Great demo, was a lot of fun and gave me [finally!] a good idea of how the game feels. I like.. can't wait for it to ship, seems like the MP is going to be a load of fun.

I remember before we were able to enter our codes, weren't some of you speculating if the GS demo was shareable? I wish that were true, friend of mine wants to try it but the poor EU server is getting hammered. :lol

Haha, I did too. I didn't realize the DS3 rotated the screen so it was shaking like mad and I had no idea why.

As for the cover system, I like it a lot better than going into 3rd person like RS6 but I could like without it. I hate that the crouch and cover button are mapped together and that you can't get out of cover without standing up, it also pisses me off that you can move left or right while reloading in cover.

I won't miss the cover once I transition to MP.

They did in CE. I remember killing Keys off at the start of the first level. They'd love down the doors and send waves of marines at you until you died. :lol

Oh fuck, that was andrewfee? No wonder that douchebag'ish post seem so familiar. Why does he hang around gaf is no sense.TBX seem to be a perfect place for him.

Yep.

I'm reading a lot of complaints about the controls. The cover system was a bit odd, but I got used to it quick. The only thing I changed was the sensitivity.

The stiffness of the controls doesn't feel artificial, like RE5. Those controls are just tight, for no apparent reason. In this Killone 2, you really feel like your encumbered by your gear and your toting a really big, heavy ass gun. Its animated very well and looks great, but has adverse effects on how well you can actually play the game. I appreciate that Guerilla wants to immerse me into the game, but this isn't a war simulation. Its science fiction action game, or, rather, a interactive action film (which is a good thing). Many a times, we've heard Guerilla wanting to create a sense of exaggerated, yet believable and visceral action. Or in other words, Hollywood realism.

Anyway, I digressed. I had to put it on the highest setting, and I STILL felt like I was turning too slow. It was better, I'd still like a my controls to be a bit looser.

So what exactly was their reasoning for not having toggle crouch? Pretty stupid IMO and as usual another foolish dev doesn't allow you to change the controls to anything you want. No logic to that either.

You will get used to it. Trust me. Its tuff to go back to other FPS after you play this for awhile. It just feels more real if you know what I mean. To me, it is the evolution of console FPS controls. Maybe its just me, but I feel like a soldier with a gun instead of a floating gun.

Good Demo!! My only disappointment is the graphics where not as good as I thought they where going to be. Not saying it looks bad, the game looks great and there are def pushing the PS3 in A lot of ways but to me it just didn't hit me like I thought it would. Uncharted 1 in my opinion still wears the crown. I was critical of IGN's 9.5 in the graphics department at first judging of the screens that I saw but now playing it, I can see why they gave it that.

I really like the way the game plays. I had to get used to the controls like a lot of other people in this thread did. While I certainly wouldn't say this is an impossibility I really think that a lot of the people who say they didn't like the controls are really just more averse to "something different" from the typical FPS controls. The way the default controls are set up really suit Killzone and its gameplay a lot better than it would support any other FPS. You can't shoot while sprinting anyway so I'm okay with the toggle to sprint button system. The default control system is a little odd at first but once you understand how the game itself is playing it is the least-complicated scheme I think. When you get behind cover it is almost definitely the easiest one. Holding L2 and pressing up left or right on the stick to lean out and toggling zoom makes things way less complicated. It's got less of a emphasis on holding things and more of one on doing things. It's more tactical than you would expect it to be.

I have also noticed that despite the events being scripted they never happen in exactly the same way. Early on in the level where you're getting ready to storm the beach and that guy is on fire I've seen him run into another ISA soldier and light HIM on fire too. I've seen him fall down and die in different positions and locations. I know what's going to happen but it's fascinating to see HOW it happens every time. What a great touch.

So I've been hanging away from Killzone threads for awhile as I decided I didn't want anything spoiled. Last I really saw was an in-depth multiplayer article detailing what was there.

I got to say, there are two things that really stand out to me that I really like. The "inaccuracy" of the shooting. It really feels like a frantic war where I shouldn't be able to hit everything. And secondly, the cover system. At first I thought I was doing something wrong when I wasn't snapping to cover but holding L2 is so much better than the snap in recent games.

I was going to hold off on the game for awhile as money is a little tight right now but I don't think that's going to be possible after playing this demo.

Little things like that are the reason why I am replaying this demo so much. It just keeps changing. And that battle rifle is fun if you can get it.

Just got done playing the game for the 3rd time.
What a damn trip this thing is going to be everything I wanted and more.
Each time I went through the demo I was noticing all kinds of insane stuff.
Just now I shot a guy off the top of the shack thing in the warehouse so he tumbles and falls
right at my feet..But the mother fu#@$ wasn't dead! He got up and started shooting
me!

Also it is absolute brilliance on Sony's part to include the Hit Response Trailer at the
end of the demo. Gets you so hyped.

omgomgomg is this on the AU store? I was going to get the RE5 demo but I guess that can wait.

Also, what resolution does this game support? Max 720p?

Just finished playing the demo, controls felt kind of ackward until I got used to them (Coming from playing Resistance 2 for a while so I was kind of expecting this). Graphically I was pretty impressed by the gun rendering, and the smoothness of the animations was awesome. I wish their was a collectors edition of the game cause I feel compelled to just give Guerilla more money :lol

Unless you can get 7.1 and 450 Watts of sub bass outta those headphones, I think I'll stick to my current setup. :P

...but yeah. The sound. Punchy, ain't it?

I agree, even this "thrown together" 7.1 rig compared to others rigs here sounds ungodly. Especially if you have some punchy-large speakers with a good dedicated sub. Bass you feel just can't be conveyed through headphones (which some DO sound incredible, but can't match stand alone subs).

It's possible its more to do with the fact that we've seen screenshots, videos and playthroughs of this particular level so many times it loses the surprise factor. It still had me in awe though. The overall package is great, very well put together.

I love how it actually feels like I am carrying a gun. I just wish I could TURN faster. I'm gonna play though it again before I go to bed. I downloaded the Halo Wars demo, but haven't even bothered turning that on.

HUD's and Crosshairs are SO last Gen :lol
I just wish there was a way of checking your ammo. Looking down at some ammo clips on your belt or something would be nice. Or maybe an auditory cue. Which brings me to another point, play this game with surround sound or headphones. It is a completely different experience when you're getting great sound.

Just got done with the demo. It took me the third time through to get used to the controls, but it'll take a few more tries for me to fully adapt to KZ2's style and off of COD. First impressions are a beautifully chaotic game that left me a little qweezy. It happened when I first played COD, so I assume I always feel like I'm about to vomit whenever I either haven't played an FPS for a long time, or I'm switching from one FPS to another. In this case, it's the latter. But my aim is improving with each dead helghast. Theres a point very early in the level, right after you blow up the bridge, where an endless stream of enemies are coming from a dark corridor. I stood there practicing my aim on one helghast after another until I was out of ammunition. By the time it hits retail I'll have hopefully honed my shooting.

After playing the demo a couple of times, I totally love it. In the first playthough I was a bit thrown off by the weight of the game, slower turns and all that felt really odd. But with the second playthough I was wrecking through the demo and having a total blast, it felt so natural that soon after first picking up the game. I already had the game pre ordered and paid off but now it's just fucking set, I can't wait for this game to hit.

I just increased the sensitivity setting under controls, and the game controls suddenly became a thousand times better.

Does anyone use the default sensitivity setting and still be able to play relatively well?

Great game let down by one thing, those fucking ds3 sticks. Why sony why have sticks with big deadzones and lose feel, this game is fucking great and is crying out for a pad to do it justice.

I do. Really no problems whatsoever here. I tried with sensitivity all the way up and it was a bit too fast for me. Maybe I should try somewhere in between.

My girlfriend surprised the hell out of me tonight by buying me the new Jason Vorhees DVD along with a GameStop demo of KZ2. I haven't played that much of it since I'm beat tonight but for sure this is on my buy list to day its released. Sony has a very nice shooter on their hands. The control is sorta disorienting at first but after 5-8 minutes I got the hang of it.

The action and visuals are damn good. Dunno if theyre the best out there since I don't by nearly as many games as I use to so I'm not a pro at what the bar presently is but to me this is up there with what I own right now. Fucking gorgeous demo, makes me want to have my girl head back to the mall and lay down the rest of the money to get this game. I love the weighty feel for the weapon and maneuvering around also,it doesn't feel arcadey, feels very strategic and slower paced, love shooters like that. I can only imagine how good online but be,thats just a bonus for me since I'm buying for single player, but I'll be online to experience this eventually.

Didn't expect much, got a very nice demo. Best 5 dollar preorder spent in awhile.

It took me 30 seconds and I was comfortable with the controls.

Just went through the demo for the 2nd time. Love it.

Here's a newb question though. Am I supposed to be zooming a lot? I can't seem to be able to hit ANYTHING without zoom.

Also, that montage at the end (5 out of 5 stars!, etc) reminds me of the WaW commercial. :P

I know there are people out there that sell basically 360 controller shells and sticks with the innards of a DS3. I have no idea how much they charge for that service though.
