ok tried this too. Any more ideas guys?????

I have connected it through HDMI to my view sonic monitor. The screen goes from no signal to blank when it starts and then you hear XMB wave sound. But nothing on screen.
:(

OK so if the PS3 is fucked what do I do? My 1 year warranty is up I think.

Thanks for the help.
Bring up the recovery menu?
I dont know the exact steps, and way too tired to look for a video or instructions but...

I think u turn off your PS3, then hold the touch power button for 8 or so seconds as it will turn on, beep twice, then beep 3 times then turn off. I THINk you continue to hold that button until it turns on again, then you get those steps.

Someone clarify what im saying, help this man out

What the hell? I thought it would be just a few days. Doesn't the game come out on the 26th?

Meh, I'm not hyped enough to make a new account for this. I just thought I'd try it out and see how it played. Oh well. This pre-order demo shit is just stupid. Totally defeats the purpose.

Here. this is what i used. Worked fine.

3 Abbey Road, St Johns Wood, London, NW8 9AY

:)

Downloaded the demo and OMG why does it end so suddenly! I was like oh wel time to kill some more mo-fos *end demo * :'(

That's right. Power it off as you normaly would, then hold down the power button until you hear a bunch of beeps and continue holding it down and it will turn off on its own. Then power it on again. You'll get a configuration screen.

Wow this game looks sooo good. The lens effects adds some kind of reality that's beyond most games out there.

Fantastic. I'll give it a second ride today. Problem is, the demo is short :(

Also if you leave the title screen on enough time, the battle with one boss appears (Nothing we haven't seen several times in the last hundred years :()

One way to make it last longer is to just use the restart checkpoint option to play set pieces over. You can have it play it out quite differently at the warehouse if you, for example, jump down immediately instead of staying up at the top. Etc. At the warehouse, I also took the habit of knocking out my teammate at the start (I forget his name) while those two Helghast are talking, so there are more enemies for me. :P

I played without the HUD like someone suggested way earlier in the thread. Felt like a different game to me, so much better. im glad that option is there.

Fuck I caved. I tried to hold out but I didnt even last 5 hours.

SICK GAME, now I know what the game feels like, the AI is the best part of the game. YES.

So I just played my first ever FPS console game in recent memory. Well, I suck, but I guess it'll take me a while to get used to it
Wiimote clone plz

First off, the graphics are sensational. Much better than any PS3 game I have. It's not the best game in terms of artistry, but it sure as hell is a technical masterpiece.

Any tips for a console FPS newbie?
I normally play FPS games on PC, but it's just so hard to aim with a stick and to have the cursor on the target. It'll certainly take a while getting used to.

A.R.K - Does anything appear via composite cables? Not too long ago my PS3's HDMI port died, but only for a while. I was going to call Sony the day after, but before I did I tried it out and it worked fine. It sure as hell confused me, but I was glad it worked! If the screen appears via composite but still fails to work with HDMI, try it again tomorrow morning.

practice.

I'd personally recommend getting Resistance. play it until you feel good about your multiplayer aiming...and with your handling of DS3's sticks in particular.

rock KZ2 out when you pick it up.

Demo didn't do it for me. The lean is cool, some of the kills I got looked nice but the only omg moment was when the skiff with the friendlies flew in from the right side. I love shooters and want great exclusives for my PS3. I played the demo of the first game and the same for the psp release waiting for when the real deal comes out it would floor me with incredible graphics and fun gameplay. My eyes didn't pop out and my pulse didn't rise much.

I am doing that, but nothing shows up, and tv just says 'no signal' although PS3 has green light on. I'll take it to my office tomorrow and try it on the TV there to see if it works there.

FUCK IT MAN..this sucks! :(((((((

Just finished playing it for the 6th time.

I used the Default controls, got used to them pretty fast, I tried ALT2, but it was useless because of cover. I figured I'll use it for MP only.

Pros
Graphics and the Presentation is godly.
Gameplay feels fresh with it's heavy feel and a sense of controling a person with some momentum, not just a camera on a floaty gun.
Guns feels awesome, a lot of kick to them and refreshing to see an FPS with some actual recoil.
Death animation is the best thing ever.
Cool cover mechanic.
Physics is tons of fun to play around with and changes the battle everytime.
AI is agressive and changes up everytime.
Cool 4d menu when loading

Cons
demo is short
flashing menu is annoying.
Cover can be pretty sluggish at times.

Overall, HYPE +111111111

AND YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS WITHOUT THE HUD OR CROSSHAIRS!!

It changed the game up for me, its a bit more challenging and also I found myself to be shooting more and not carrying about the recoil, I sometimes go in there guns blazing and SO MUCH FUN!

Anyone know if I could change the Crouch button not to hold?

One of my Sixaxis controllers move with the slightest breeze. It makes playing Street Fighter HD a pain at times. I wish I could turn analog off for that game. Out of nowhere I'd end jp jumping in the air over and over. Sometimes it let me do surprise charged attacks while moving forward though hah.

I expected more though, after all the hype. It's a shame the graphics have lost their wow due to the retard KZ2gif spammers.
Yes, at least the retarded halo 3 screenshot spammers were quarantined in their own thread.

The stick is probably getting stuck from wear and tear. If you play a lot of Call of Duty or other games that require lots of L3/R3 pressing, it'll do that. My old sixaxis does it too.

Wow, this game plays so much better with alternate button scheme 1 i think its called

L1 is to aim
r1 is to fire
r3 is melee
r2 is grenade

turn the zoom hold option on and it almost plays just like call of duty!!!!

I really wish I could completely remap the buttons, though. I really want to aim with L1 and shoot with R2

Overall I like the demo, am very happy with how the game plays. My favorite part is the beach part with the two tanks. I keep restarting that part over and over :D

me too, so after 4 mins, i shutdown my ps3 , i do not want to learn a different controlscheme at this moment.
My ps3 at this moment is only used for tower defense (pixeljunk monsters, and savage moon)

I replayed the demo with Alt2 configuration and was *much* happier with the controls; it made it easier to control overall, and I was able to jack up the sensativity to go along with it. This will definately be my control config of choice for MP, since the only akward thing about it is the dynamic of having zoom (L1) right next to the cover button (L2) -- your fingers kind of get a work out in SP with that.

The default config will likely be okay for SP; I don't know. I'll still experiment, but I'm very happy with alt 2.

The thing I love about this game other than the graphics is the Star Wars feel to the soundtrack. Fucking awesome.
I got the exact same vibe. I let the main menu sit just so I could listen to it.:D

Some fun things I was able to do in the demo:

1) Shoot/Bash Garza off the lift ledge (before you press the button). It knocks him off the ledge and he climbs back up on his own.

2) Get into a corner on that same lift/ledge and take out the remaining red shirt ISAs (red shirt Star Trek reference). Rico will get pissed and start shooting at you but you can hide from his fire. After a while he forgets he hates you and resets.

3) For a fun game, try to get all three of your buddies (Garza/Rico/Natko) to be in the wounded begging for a heal mode.

4) Keep jumping off the lift/ledge to hear all the things Garza will say to you when he pulls you up. There's a line about a low-carb diet and he also says "I think I heard something snap". Heh.

5) You can bring the rocket launcher with you to the lift/ledge area and when you run out of ammo you can climb back up to the first area and get more. You do this by jumping on a little bit of metal sticking up at the area you jumped down (towards the right) then jump from that to the first area. Takes a bit of fiddling.

6) If you get the StA-14, you can blow the heads off of some bodies of already dead Helghasts. Didn't work with a shot to the back of the head though.

7) At the end of the warehouse level you can try to wound/knock out Garza before he goes running and then just keep your shoulder to the right side of the doorway to keep you from entering the area that'll take you to the Ballet of Death video. Just stay planted there and eventually some Helghasts will make their way closer and you can shoot them.

Anyone else find some other fun things to do? I've been trying to climb all over the place as much as I can but there's always invisible barriers blocking me from the good stuff.

I also tried to use the rocket launcher to light the flags on fire so I could watch them burn but I couldn't get it to work.

Definitely. Seeing how the Helghast reacted differently in the warehouse section kept me amused for hours yesterday. And this is just on Trooper difficulty.

So I tried the demo...

Very impressed presentation is excellent, although it is obvious this level is probably the blandest graphically...the outdoor areas are outstanding...warehouses are bland so it is fitting I suppose that the interiors are..

Had no real problem with the controls although I find a little difficult to run and shoot, but this is a console fps I suppose so it will take some time getting used to...

This is probably the most immersive game Ive played, very intense to boot... AI is impressive and this is just on normal,,,

I've seen later vids, so I am already blown away by the graphics, but from the games I have played the scene in MGS4 (spoiler) rex gameplay (/spoiler) holds the crown so far, absolutely incredible... This definitely may surpass that though, even the vid of the heavy at the title screen looks more impressive than the demo by a good margin, just because of the setting etc..

Overall, my hype for this game seems pretty justified, could end up easily being my favourite console shooter

Any other weapons in the demo besides Rocket / ISA Rifle / pistol?

I could of sworn the Helghast on the roof of the plant had that rifle...
But killed him and he didn't fall off it.

the DS3 doesn't really have a very large deadzone, I don't know what you guys are talking about.

It's very small, almost non-existent. Hardware-wise. It's up to the developers to decide when they want the thing to register movement. I recall being amazed about how I could slightly turn my car in Formula 1 CE by simply touching the stick.

Or just using a ds3 in Windows, with software that lets you determine the dead zone for yourself.

Ok i thought it was very difficult to control, will definitely take some time getting used to. Very awesome in all other aspects though.

I ended up using ALT2, because i wanted to aim with L1. But i wish they'd made an ALT 3 where they put crouch on some other button, i hardly used cover at all because of it.

I'll try one of the other configurations when i replay the demo tonight, to see if that helps.

I just can't play a console FPS. It's too hard, disconnected and just feels strange. I miss my mouse.

I put the sens down to just about zero and it was a bit better but still way to disconnected to be enjoyable which makes me sad.

Everything else seemed great though. Will try the demo a few more times, see if i can get used to the controls. Otherwise i wont be picking it up.

Having a tough time aiming accurately quickly. I can understand the complaints of that dude who wanted some aim assist. I'm getting used to it though, and it does make headshots more realistic...in that you dont just get them at will. I like the heavy feel of the weaponry

Excellet game. Most surprising thing is that the visuals and AI rival and in ways beat the big dogs of the FPS genre this generation. This AI is beating out Halo, the visuals beating out Call of Duty, with great music to boot. Getting this day 1

But killed him and he didn't fall off it.

1) Knife
2) Magnum
3) Grenades
4) Standard ISA Rifle
5) StA-51 (number might be wrong, standard Helghast rifle)
6) StA-14 (Obtainable by shooting the guy off the roof in the warehouse. Get him close to an edge and he'll nosedive)
7) Rocket Launcher

OK one option I wish they would implement is the ability to toggle crouch. They should have just done fully customizable controls. Is that something that is hard to do? Some years they do it in Madden, and other years they don't. Why can't they just let me do it...maybe it's really hard to do as a developer.

Keep trying. The Killzone 2 MultiPlayer demo was the first FPS I was able to actually play decently using a console controller. I am a mouse and keyboard only guy and can't play Resistance/Resistance 2 and can barely play Fear 2 Demo. I wish they added mouse/keyboard to PS3 games :-/

But anyhow, after playing in the beta a while I eventually got used to the controls and then after a little while more it clicked HARD and I was kicking ass.

Aah.. been there too =)

Try to fiddle with the aiming sensitivity.. start low.. then raise it as you get more into it.

And play play play.. at some point you will master the "thumb skills".

try resetting your controller with a toothpick or something equally small, if you haven't already. It might help. Press and hold the little button for something like... 5 seconds, and then hook it up to your ps3 via usb to resync it.

I also remember something about twirling the sticks around in the system update section of the xmb... or maybe not.

Having stated several times that this is the best looking game I have ever seen, I don't really think so after actually playing the game itself. Usually, every game looks way better on my TV than in videos, but not Killzone 2.

I'll provide some pictures, but as best as I can describe it, it looks like the sharpness setting on my tv is way too high when playing this game. I tried lowering it, but then my TV blurs the image, as 20-23 is the 'unaltered' image setting.

Ok, just played through the SP demo. Maybe it's my controller (6 axis) or something, but the control is horrid. It's so rigid and I'm having trouble lining up shots. I cranked the X and Y all the way up and all the way down, but it didn't seem to fix anything.

Also, I was severely underwhelmed by the graphics and the gun sounds. I was expecting so much, I guess to much :/ I really don't think I'm going to keep my pre-order for this. Seriously guys, I'm shocked :(

Don't judge the visuals in the game off just this level. Like I said a few pages back, it definitely lacks the punch of some of the other levels in the game, and really is a touch too bleak. I'd say KZ2 is a game that progressively delivers the "wow" moments at a consistent rate throughout the game. But I too wasn't completely bowled over by the first "mission" level. At later stages in the game though...
