Pretty much. :lolDirtbag said:hypocrite
Switch RGB in the XMB to limited if it's on full. That should fix it. A lot of people here had it on full, cranked the brightness up to the max, and still weren't able to see it.DeeVoc said:Oddly enough the hellghaust symbol they use for brightness wouldn't show up on my tv. I ran through the demo the first time with the gamma correction cranked which was obviously too high. Was that just some kind of pal/ntsc thing since it's the EU demo? (40" samsung LCD)

Very true.. but Crysis's lighting (which looks f*cking amazing) is very very demanding. I found myself playing it in very high even though I was getting 18-23fps out of it. GG they dedicated that many resources to the lighting then everything else would suffer. I think that GG did an awesome job with what they had to work with. Those guys are really talented.nelsonroyale said:yeah, the lighting is very impressive, although it doesn't seem as dynamic as in crysis...its more striking though, as evidenced in later levels

I just tried it on my TV and OMG, I got pwnt. The game looks AWESOME and the sound, omg the sound!
I was feeling it in my anus throughout the whole demo, I was THAT pwnt.
Can't wait for the full game! (should get it next week, oh ya)

If GG patches Killzone 2 they should really put a notice into the game when your setting up the gamma. Like "If you can't see the symbol at all please turn set RGB to limited"

Yeah but to the casual folks, Full sounds better than Limited. And to be honest, Full did sound better than Limited to me, that's why I was using the PS3 with the Full option for months :lol_leech_ said:RGB Full crushes blacks on most TVs. You really shouldn't enable it if your TV doesn't support it.

3rdamention said:Right here over on the AVS Forums they have a whole discussion about RGB Range Full vs. Limited and how to tell if your TV Supports it.
ON the first post in the thread, the guy has a PS3 Theme you can download and install that tells whether your tv accepts RGB Range Full. There is also just the image you can view on your PS3.
If this is old, I apologize. I thought this would help some having issues or questions about RGB Range Full vs. Limited.
I know I have had the PS3 set to Full since basically launch. It was supposed to look better that way, everyone said turn it on, blah blah. It looked great to me, I noticed no crushing of blacks or shadows.
Now when I play Killzone 2, I cannot see the emblem on the screen brightness settings screen. I turned RGB Range to Limited and I saw the emblem just fine in the brightness settings screen. Looks like my TV never supported the function this whole time.
However, Limited looks so washed out to me. My TV is callibrated to a T and limited looks washed out, I dont get it. It also doesn't appear that you can turn on RGB Range in my TV Settings (TV is a Samsung LN-T4061F). Interesting stuff here.

LiquidMetal14 said:What really is the best way to get fit in with the controls? I use ALT 2. I'm finding it a little awkward to zoom in with the L3 and aim too.
Ah, yes, yes I get what you're saying now.TTP said:I get that. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about how it is illuminated but the light itself. I don't know if it's due to a post-processing effect or whatever but its definitely less artificial looking than in other games.
For the sake of clarity, here is a comparison.
(Please forgive me for having chosen GOW2 for this comparison but this level is the first overcast setting that came to my mind. Not attempting any troll-ish confrontation here so refrain being offended)
*snip*
You see what I'm talking about? Killzone 2 illumination hides the digital nature of the image giving it a more "analogical" look. There is more depth to it. Different materials *look like* are reflecting light differently. Even without any obvious reflection effect, you can tell a concrete surface from a metal one or a wooden one.
Perhaps it's just clever art. Or it's just me. Probably both![]()
Both shots look like shit though and really don't compliment the games at all. (but they serve the purpose for what TTP was trying to say)DexterXS said:Whoa those shots make KZ2 looks leagues and leagues above Gears in every visual category.
Hellraizer said:Both shots look like shit though and really don't compliment the games at all.
I know exactly what you're talking about, and it's damn true. Everything in the game has this unified look, and it's thanks to its lighting. Compared to something like Resistance that looks fake through and through.TTP said:I get that. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about how it is illuminated but the light itself. That's OK - I'll have to finish the game in English before I switch to Russian anyways, I have to at least know what's going on.TTP said:Every disc has all the languages. You are asked to select it right before the game starts, no matter what the XMB language is.
BUT BE ADVISED: once the game starts and saves the profile data there is no turning back to language selection screen unless you delete the save file. You just don't get prompted anymore and there is no language selection option in the options menu.
SecretBonusPoint said:The issue was raised elsewhere, and while most of it reads like your atypical "hype deflation required" piece (i hate these anyway), the issue that your POV in Killzone 2 is that of a midget certainly is an interesting one!
It does feel somewhat that default view is through eerie eyes in your chest. I guess thats more 'realistic' since you wouldnt be able to see your gun hand all the time if it was eye level view. Still, it has coloured the game somewhat as I do keep expecting all the wise cracking GI Joes to start some shit about my in-game height!
Onix said:For people using their PS3 as a dual-purpose game/BD,DVD player ... I'd recommend against RGB Full.
Unless something changed with a recent firmware, I believe the PS3 does not pass BTB and WTW when setting movies to output RGB (regardless of whether it's limited or full). Therefore, it's recommended to output YCbCr. The problem with that, YCbCr is a video level output (like RGB limited) ... so when you switch from movies to games, you're going to have to adjust the TV's contrast and brightness if RGB is full.

Did they take the shot using composite?
it's like they're from some bizarro universe where all the major developers were bought out by the big N

I was kidding about the composite comment before, but now I'm not so sure.Keikoku said:I don't think so. But it's pretty bad :
