Don't know about the other Beta testers but for me this was the only online shooter where I really gave a damn about my place on the rankings. During the Beta I would just leave my PS3 on the KZ2 menu screen, or the stats screen because I knew in an hour or so I'd be back to play again. KZ2 was my operating system for those two months :p

So I took a capture of the the top 10 and top 15 (just to make sure mr_nothing was there way down in 15th :p) I wish I took more detailed screens actually rather than just the standard stats rankings. but anyway, here they are:

TOP 10

TOP 15

Watch out for those players! ;)

That list is definitely solid. However, Power_Rangers is a cheater (I hope they fixed the out of map crap), and T-E-X only used assault (and funny enough, I only ever ran into him on Blood Gracht as well). Crystal is probably the best Sab I ran into. She was always coming from the appropriate direction, and seemed to know when she was spotted. Plus she was a really good shot in a standoff - never seemed to rely too much on C4 though . . . Mx_Beaner earned his position. It seems that he was playing as a different class everytime I saw him, and everytime he kicked my ass! Terror was a really good sniper and, other than FF, one of the only ones on that list that used Scout almost exclusively.

The highest I got was top 10% (I think I made it to about 112 or so), and that was only in points. My KDR sucked throughout the entire demo, but I never got frustrated with dying because the game was so much fun.

Geez - Power_Rangers teamkilled about 20% of his kills! MemoryCure - you were up there as well! I hope you aren't on my team! And I hope that teamkills defaults to "on".

Complaints about the AI demonstrate either a lack of playtime with the game, personal agenda, or an elevated skill level playing at too low a difficulty level - paired with an inability to see how the existing AI will scale up. The same battles play out differently everytime as a product of an unpredictable (and intelligent) AI, lending itself to multiple play-throughs. If you find fault in the AI here I'd really love to know what other games you are playing so I can get in on the fun. In my eyes, the AI contained here (in this 20 minute demo alone) sits in the upper tier of AI's right alongside the other greats.

:lol

Alot of the time it would be me getting rushed and them standing in the way not doing anything. What am I suppose to do? Die along with them? If I dont shoot then I'll get killed too. The guy I team kill will die for a better cause though! Because I am TACTICIAN! He'll be able to get a better spawn point...all because he died in the name of *insert whatever team im on*.

:D

I hated when people would just run in front on me while I was shooting at an enemy.

Yeah. The only problem is they come into the level scripted so you always have a general idea of were to be looking. The do react pretty well though. I can't really think of a game were everytime you played the section the layout of enemies was different so it's not big deal. I'm definitely playing on veteran though. I prefer a challenge.

Not really a Killzone 2 or PS3 fan, but I just wanted to pop my head in here and thank Crushdance for calling out Frillen.

If you can't beat its metacritic than beat it in NeoGAF thread views.

Both comparisons are equally stupid.

I hated when people would just run in front on me while I was shooting at an enemy.

I think the worst was being an HGH Scout in Radec - aiming down the halls. Then just as an ISA meatbag runs in front of my crosshairs an HGH fuckwit decides to hunker down in front of me and shoot at the guy with the AR. The one hit kill is pretty sweet, but it definitely means you are going to take out some teammates if they aren't communicating with you. :D

Worse still is going through the trouble of trapping a door or hallway with C4 only to have someone on your team run through as the enemy comes upon it. 241 I guess . . .

Gawd, all this talk is making me yearn for the 27th. I seem to remember MP being a bit faster than the demo though. TTP or someone else - is this a correct memory? Is this still the case?

God.

You're so fucking annoying.
Can you just go back to the NPD threads and sit there drooling like a retarded dog barking about how Killzone 2 will fail to sell any copies? First you were bitching in NPD threads about how everyone who owns a PS3 is retarded and hanging onto KZ2 to save them. Then you went on acting all high and mighty after reviews started coming in, saying that none of us could talk because we hadn't played the game.

Now everyone who gives a shit has played the game and come out with their own opinions, and you're STILL bitching. Find something better to do with yourself instead of trolling PS3 games you annoying shit. It's not even funny anymore.

:lol Get the fuck out.

Daaaaamn.

Telegraph Newspaper: Killzone 2 Review 9/10
Killzone 2 is not a revolution. It was never intended to be. However, it would be folly to disregard its importance, both to the PS3 and the console FPS. It’s a refinement of the genre, distilled to its purest and polished to a glittering shine. The phenomenal technical achievement, both visually and in AI, raises the bar for console games and, just maybe, suggests that all Sony’s claims for the ‘power of the PS3’ were more than just hot air and bluster after all.

I said good for you, dammit!! Now just enjoy the game and stand back from the chronic masturbating of "for or against" like we forum gamers always do!! You don't want to get hit in the face.

There is something about this spot that makes the Helghast love to take cover behind it.

Hehe...for a second I was actually thinking triads were an enemy in the game.:D

So will be collectables then in the single player campaign? e,g. intel and that sort of thing?

About the AI, based on my experience with the game....

There are different basic behaviors applied to the AI depending on what a given level or situation is set up for. There are situations where the AI soldiers are tossed into the environment without any constrains. They charge, retreat, follow the player, whatever. I'd call this Free AI.

Then there are situations where the AI is instructed to hold a given position. In those cases AI doesn't chase the player. Of course it does still move around to avoid being shot but doesn't try to get to you. I'd call this Defensive AI.

And then there are situations where AI is instructed to charge the player. I'd call this Charging AI (how inventive I am).

Usually game mixes these different AI behaviors, putting some Higs on Defensive mode, others on Charging mode and other on Free mode. Obviously different enemy types have different behaviors themselves (those knife equipped Hig will usually attempt to quickly get close to you for example).

So don't expect the AI to behave exactly the same throughout the game. It's tailored to create specific situations for the player to overcome. If you have to conquer a location, don't expect to be able to lure the AI out. If you have to defend, expect higher aggression levels. And so on.

There are insigna and intel to collect. Both reward with trophies. Intel seems to unlock something on the killzone.com website. No idea what it is as the link to the site doesn't work in the review code (PS3 browsers comes up, but you get an error) but I guess it's story related stuff.

I know this was silly but I was attempting to jump onto the ISA flying craft which drops off troop reinforcements.

There's a nice waist high cover stone right next to the landing point.. and it seemed ALMOST like I could jump from the top of that stone to the wings of the aircraft.

It sure would have been logged as a severe bug if you were allowed to fly off over the map.
You can.. it's really hard to do though. I can't do it.

Yup, with Killzone: Liberation on the PSP the unlockables on Killzone.com varied from extra backstory info, wallpapers to mp3 downloads. Even this:

Yes, yes it is.

To anyone with the promo code: do you have to finish it on Veteran to unlock Elite or any difficulty level will do?

Playing this game with my newer Dualshock really feels way better.
Some of you guys shouldn't play with a worn out analog sticks if you got a controller that's not worn out.

Sounds great. Makes a lot of sense, too, judging from how the A.I. behaves in the demo.

I got it once without trying, not sure how to do it again. How do you get that guy to fall down from the roof?

Usually I cannot get him to, when I do (by luck) I never find the gun.

Throw a grenade above/behind him and the explosion will knock him off.

Nope. But I play on one of those old nice Sony Super Fine Pitch HD CRT sets, which have great black levels. I think it's just that GG didn't figure on people playing on those old sets and figured the masses will be playing on contrast challenged LCDs.

When I had the triple upstairs connected to the same CRT, I had no such issues. I had to calibrate the gamma settings using the in-game option but I had no problem adjusting the settings properly. I had my set ISF'd by Greg Loewen w/ LionAV. Dude is awesome. Do you have your set adjusted for blacker than black?

Btw guys, about the controls - i've been playing with those Real Triggers and using L2 for cover (and holding it down) feels great with the attachments. Haven't tried the game without them yet tho ....
