I usually try and not play demos too much if I know I'm getting the game day 1 so I don't get burnt out. But I can't stop playing it. Just love the gunplay, it's so fun and so satisfying. Can see myself playing the full game many times if it stays consistently great, which it seems to going by all the reviews and GAF impressions.

Same here. I keep telling myself I should stop but I can't. I just love going through without HUD and crosshairs. I've never done that in a FPS before and it's just so satisfying.

All games have input lag. For example....

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3725/measuring_responsiveness_in_video_.php?page=3

Games that run at 60 fps:

•PS3 System menus: 3/60ths
•Guitar Hero III (Xbox 360): 3/60th
•Ridge Racer 7: 4/60ths
•Virtua Tennis 3: 4/60ths
•Ninja Gaiden Sigma: 4/60ths
•PixelJunk Racers: 4/60ths
Games that run at 30 fps:

•Genji: Days of the Blade: 6/60ths
•Tony Hawk's Proving Ground: 8/60ths
•BlackSite: Area 51: 8/60ths
•Halo 3 (Xbox 360) : 8-10/60ths
•Skate: 10/60ths
•GTAIV: 10/60ths
•Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: 10-14/60ths
•Heavenly Sword: 7-18/60ths

Easily the best part of KZ2 right there, I loved the Magnum in HL and HL2, but in this game it feels even better when I pull the trigger.

Retail test of input lag

First I reduced the sensitivity back to its default settings.

1. I then tapped R1 to take shots. There is no lag. None. As soon as I click the trigger, there is a shot - not even I minute delay.

2. I then tried spinning around. No lag here either. Like the video I just tapped the stick left and right - I got immediate recognition of the movements.

3. I tried aiming at objects in quick succession. No problems here either.

Conclusion:

a. Any talk of input lag is not anything to do with GG's decision to add weight to the characters. Their want for realism has NOT impacted the controls or the accuracy of the shooting.

b. This is most likely a bug in the demo.

Hope that helps - deep.

slo-mo video or it didn't happen

Posted by Lord_Error a couple of pages back. But yeah, that article speaks the truth.

Ah, thank god we've finally moved on from the input lag criticism to the "generic shooter not living up to the hype" criticism. I knew we could do it!

Next I predict the even vaguer "KZ is JUST a game" complaint. You can't dispute it because you know it's true!!

The Magnum is actually pretty awesome for both short and medium-range (and even long-range, to a limit). It's enough that it should be manageable to use something like the flamethrower or sniper rifle as the primary weapon in the full game and not screw yourself over.

The more I use the Magnum, the more I don't mind that you can't switch it out for something else. Its only real issues are a slow firing speed and a 6 round chamber, so you gotta be careful with timing and aiming your shots so you're not caught in a reload.

This is now my most replayed demo ever, right behind the Metal Gear Solid 2 and Motorstorm one :D

Yeah, this demo and the Crysis one are my two most-played demos this gen by far.

The game needs more aim assist. I can't hit shit ;)

So tired of people saying the weight controls are realistic. They aren't realistic. These guys don't have that much armor on them or anything. They, realistically, would be able to turn much faster than the game lets you.

That said, once you get used to the controls the demo is really damn fun, realistic controls or not.

That's why the cover system is awesome as well, fire six shots, reload/take cover, fire another six shots. That usually adds up to 12 kills. It's a bit tricky when they close in on you though, every shot has to count.

12 shots, 12 kills would make me feel like a pornstar

I don't think you have noticed that they are carrying a GIANT FUCKING GUN.

It is a pretty standard assault rifle... Even the magnum is slow as fuck. I don't think people should be calling it realistic.

That is also true, but KZ2 is in line with other 30FPS games from what I can tell from that youtube video posted some pages back. It appears to be 8/60 specifically.

It's never going to be fully realistic, but much like Mirror's Edge, it's a step forward in making you feel like you're that character whose eyes you're looking through, and not just a camera on a stick.

I'll feel silly if I start talking about this fiction being realistic or not. There could potentially be lots of factors.

Recent conversation with a buddy about this demo:

"My favourite part is the shanking everyone with knives part oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah that's my o-face as I shank away. I go oh yeah, Hellghast go gragalaglaaarrgrgrhrghhhhhh. "

I may have to get him to a shrink now.

The multiplayer will be epic. Very much looking forward to it.

COD Modern Warfare 2 multi in the same year too.

Happy days.

i have not been keeping up with this thread but why are we comparing COD4 to this.

COD4 had awful brain dead single player. ZERO AI and just moving forward to trigger the next scripted event. It was a very shallow experience no substance on flash.

KZ2 has WAY better AI and it seems like the fire fights are really dynamic.

I am starting to love the gameplay now, all I had to do was play it as Guerilla wants me to play it.

I set it back to DEFAULT control layout, not the "CoD" layout, and I set it to DEFAULT sensitivity. Things are great now, even the cover system works great.

Hopefully others can learn from my mistake, don't change a thing and just play it at the developers defaults!

The Magnum is sweet, and I even got that high powered gun from the guy on the roof in the warehouse. Good stuff!

Can I haz some attention? :(
Because it's a KZ2 wallpaper there's a delay from the time you post it until the time we see it.. don't worry it'll be any minute now.

This thread is a disaster. I take back what I said. A week from now this thread should be erased from existence in place of a new, official thread.

Yeah, I think the official thread should also have a quick ban hammer.

Ok, that was awesome. From now on i will call you Sir Burn-a-lot. :lol

EDIT: What happened with this thread ?
Please mods, take a close look to the official KZ2 thread.

Heh!
Now this thread is like the first Killzone game threads!
Whine..whine...whine.. :p

Is like some people are like "I need to find something to complain!!!!"
Visuals? Length? Set-up? Input lag?

This list is a fraud! sir. There are no mentions of FarCry Instincts: Predator for Xbox 360, or Metal Slug Anthology for the PSP.

These are the crown jewels of input lag. Play them. Experience them.

Then arrest the developers and beat them with their own game boxes.

I've played this demo 50+ times easily...No I'm not exaggerating. Easily beat Uncharted as my most played game demo.

Holy crap. I played both demos at least half a dozen times each and thought that was excessive.

True. Dying in COD4 was so frustrating because every scene played the same when you replayed it. That probably won't be the case for KZ2 seeing as so many different actions can affect the AI.

Wait, so KZ2 has less input lag than any other 30fps game ?

omg :lol

I kid you not I really think I've probably spent a good 8 hours on this demo now, I've completed many decent games in less than that time.

The more I play it the more I enjoy it, the controls get better every time, really is quite revolutionary.

I had the same experience, but for my personal tastes, the game is at its best with the sensitivities of the axes set a single notch higher than the default setting.

It also helps if you just play the game as it is meant to be played. You can't play it like Halo, i.e. jumping around nine feet in the air while drawing a bead on some grunts head.

You've got to treat it like you are an actual soldier in an actual war with actual guns. In other words, you have to take cover strategically, be defensive, and deal with weapons with significant recoil.

The 'sloppiness' of the guns here make it even more satisfying when you finally take down the Helghast with a spray of bullets to the head or legs, whatever.

Everything feels really realistic and physical, and I must say I think the 'feel' of the game is one of its biggest 'innovations'. It's one of the first FPS games I have played where I actually feel present in the world, instead of being a disembodied gun gliding around.

It may not be instantly fun or accessible, but it's definitely different. Can't wait to see what the full game has to offer.

P.S - does anyone else love how the Helghan Rifle handles compared to the ISA one? It is just awesomely tactile.

Killzone 2 - The Official Thread of lulz the first killzone sucked, CG trailer Sony deceives public once again, too grey, no colors, lipsyncing sucks, low res textures, AI sucks Ballz, Gears looks better, Halo 3 best of show Killzone 2 worst of show, hello?! did everybody forget Guerrilla's track record???, CG trailer looks better, blur hides low res textures, AI still sucks, generic leveldesign, no variety, controls are crap, COD4 with no colors lulz, why don't ISA need masks lol ULTRA-FAIL, guys stop praising this game so much, I don't like this game and I just need to let you all know, DS3 doesn't fit in my hands, OMGWTFBBQ militant sony fanboys, HAPPLES!, HYPE/RAGE/HYPE/RAGE, nothing special, 6 hours too short, I NEED CROUCH TOGGLE, character models worse than Oblivion, Samey, Gamey, Input lag - look at my slow-mo youtube vid, TREY 4 LI4E!!
