I'm bored, so here is a little rant.
I can't believe some people are trying to downplay the textures. The textures in this game are great. People might think because there isn't any wild and crazy bump mapping with oily shiny grease everywhere, translates to bad textures. Well for one, killzone 2 does have great bump map textures, they are just in places where its needed. Like stone walls, stones and pebbles on the floor, gun textures, tanks, vehicles, uniforms etc. Your not going to pan around and see everything oiled down in a shiny oily blurry mess. The bump mapping seems to be carefully used, therefore keeping everything looking clean and sweet.
As for the controls, I can honestly say, this is something that is blown way out of proportion. Mega fucking proportions. MGS 4 which is my game of the year 2008 have a more difficult control scheme than this. I can't believe people are going on and on about the controls. I had a few friends over, and we passed the pads around, and not once did I hear someone cry out about the controls. All they did was ask what button did what, and once they were told, they went on their merry way and completed the demo with ease. Its so fucking simple its not even funny. It took me literally no time at all to adjust to the controls. I can't even argue back and forth with someone that has a problem because I cannot even see where their coming from in the first place, so I rather not even jump into that argument at all to be honest.
The AI is very good. I died a few times, and the game is only on the second difficulty level. Not saying that I can't run through the demo without dying, but a couple of my replays, I had my ass handed to me, which shows the dynamics of the AI and that they are not completely scripted. They might be scripted regarding the time they are triggered to appear, but once they show up, they do things differently every play through. I've seen the AI do things in one play through that I didn't see them do in others, and vice verse.
Regarding the story. Like someone said a few posts back. Fuck the story. We all know the gist of whats going on. ISA gets word that Helgans are planning another infiltration. Therefore, ISA gets on their horses (in this case space vehicles.) and ride out to helgan to stop the Helgast in their tracks. The rest is just complete gun porn, and all out fucking war. As for what Rico and is compadres say during the mission, I mean how else are you going to talk and or speak. Your in the middle of space somewhere on someone else planet, ducking and dodging missile fire, grenades, and machine gun turrets. What else are you expecting them to say other than, WHAT THE FUCK or LETS GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. Were you honestly hoping for some shakespear level and law school thesis type of dialouge. Its an all out fucking war my man, its killed or be killed my dude. There is nothing else to it. Just survive until the end.
Last but not least, I'll tackle the input lag. This was never, and I mean never an issue when we beta players got our hands on the Killzone 2 beta. No one, mentioned anything about input lag, and if someone did, they were drowned out because the majority didn't see it. Now that the demo is here, you have the usual suspects that are trying they best to scare people away from the game thus coming up with this input lag issue which now is trying to gather a bunch more knuckleheads to jump on the input lag issue to try and drum up some severe problem. I've played the beta, and the demo, and never did I feel there was any noticeable input lag. Now if it is there, then its probably so minuscule that the average gamer will never notice it until they read some knucklehead on a forum crying on and on about it. Anyways with that said, my TV which is a 42 inch 1080p Toshiba Regza has something called game setting. I notice when this is turned off, there is some type of blur when moving my characters in games such as Fallout 3, The Orange box, Uncharted, and basically every other PS3 game I play. I can see how this may translated into input lag in some way or form. When I turn it on, the blur is completely gone. Maybe you guys need to check within your TV settings to see if there is some type of game mode setting to see if it might help with this so-called input lag.
Well that's it. Everything thus far about the game has been amazing to me. I will be picking this up day one, and I look forward to going all out gun ho online with my fellow Gaffers. Its going to be epic. Can't wait.
