Killzone Mercenary Beta Discussion

According to reddit, not all PS+ members get in the beta? Apparently you were supposed to be emailed a code tonight.

WOW I am impressed. I can see myself putting in a TON of hours in this game. This is how you make a FPS on the Vita.

Sony needs to have Kioks running this game all over, i feel like vita isnt even advertised at all,

I never seen a Vita commercial

Just tried my Home-obtained beta voucher code and it finally worked. After hanging on the download(Sony needs to fix this!); I'm finally downloading it! I wonder if work will get mad if I'm "late due to traffic".

It might just be the servers acting up. Otherwise I would check to see if your router's firmware is up to date.

I can't change the firmware. I am using the wi-fi modem of my ISP, so it's heavily customized. Some fuctions are even locked. There is a work around, but I am delaying how much is possible to do it. If by tomorrow I still have problems, I guess will be the reason I am waiting for.

I dying of envy of everyone who is playing right now. Enjoy the game for me bastards :)

I like Warzone, but it takes a long time. I was surprised to see that Mercenary Warfare wasn't in this beta despite being in the closed one.

yeah.. I just cannot hack those vanguards and when I try I always get killed. Its frustrating and I wish there was a tutorial for that.

Wait I go this code to, had to do silly tasks
it really works?

I'll gladly pay anyone $5 via Paypal for a beta code. Shoot me a PM, please!

Its a 2008 port damn...

I'll gladly take a 2008 port of Killzone 2 for my Vita. The game plays and runs very smooth. The controls feel perfect and is sort of a mix between KZ2 and 3.

The graphics on the other hand is crazy. If something like this is done on the Vita, then a full fledge cross platform COD game needs to happen for Vita.

Didn't get a code of course. This has turned out to be the worst day ever. I guess the only good news is that I lost 5 pounds in a day! lol

Obviously this is icing on the cake and not the main reason my day was shitty but it feels like another layer of shit was just thrown on my back for me to carry. I'm sure plenty of non-Vita owners somehow got codes though!

i already have it pre-ordered but i wish they would've sent a code via email or given pre-orders early access! oh well, just a couple more weeks now so no big deal. game looks so good though!

buy a vita people!

As a die-hard KZ2 fanatic who couldn't get in to KZ3 I'm dying to get into this beta. Still haven't gotten my plus code... Anybody that can help me out with a code I'll owe you one

I downloaded and played the beta for about an hour today and here are my impressions:

Beautiful graphics for a handheld, but not quite as amazing as the screenshots would have you believe due to some pop-in and a few dips in the frame rate when using certain vanguard tech in full matches.

Graphically, Killzone edges out ahead of Uncharted as the best looking game due to the crisp native resolution and smoother average frame-rate, but it isn't quite up there with the console Killzone games, not that we can expect that.

The controls are solid, better than other Vita shooters, but certain touch screen actions like brutal melee are hit or miss and can lead to some frustration.

Shooting feels accurate and satisfying with the few weapons I tried, as does bringing down other players in a burst of gunfire from far away. But the lack of third person kill-cams is disappointing as death results in a jarring black and white, zoomed in view of low polygon geometry.

The 4v4 player cap is also a bit disappointing, but gameplay feels excellent and balanced between close quarters firefights and long range aiming duels when the game is full. The experience does diminish somewhat with just 2v2.

I think 5v5 for these maps would have been the sweet spot, where you can afford to lose two players and still have a frantic match.

Overall, I'd say Killzone Mercenary has the potential to be the best action game on Vita, but from what I've played and the trailers I've seen, the game might not hit the series plateau reached by Killzone 2. But you can't really expect that from a $40 handheld game.

I'll definitely be picking this up in two weeks.

I agree completely on this point. Really should have been at least 5v5. I would have liked even 6v6. These maps are pretty large for 8 player games.

I keep hearing the Vita Party app is responsible for the player cap, but I think it has something to do with the less than top-of-the-line CPU which can't handle having too many players at once.

Wat. That looks insanely good lol.

Will probably pick up a PS+ some time after the PS4 (dat remote play and PS+ value), so will get this at some point too.
