Killzone Shadowfall MP Screenshots (Sexy)

Character model improvements, even without the super sampling.

KILLZONESHADOWFALLCHARACTERMODELS.jpg~original

Not sure that's a good example from the reveal video, since it's optic camouflage and intentionally fucked up and glitchy.

probably at TGS. Should look better by TGS with dat blur and doF :P

..What? :O

No way..they said it was playable at GC >:(

Regardless, GG should be showing us a lot of stuff. The game is like 2 months away. I'm so desperate :'(

I mean, at least keep at pace with BF and COD's reveals

The camo'd Helghast uses and identical character model to the other VSA guys in the Feb build. The characters are a massive improvement.

Maybe not TGS but probably by October. I don't think Japan cares much about Killzone.

I think the best thing to come out of these screenshots is that it seems to confirm that bots are in the game again. Look at the second picture of the OP... [BOT] Wong. Killzone games have always had bots in them so I'm pretty pumped if Shadowfall is in fact having bots.

It may have been confirmed by Guerrilla or someone before, but that was nice to see for me.

Great graphics but this series does nothing for me. I remember trying the 2nd one on my PS3 and feeling nauseous throughout the whole demo :(

Based on the multiplayer video and these screens, I'd say absolutely not true. There's some form of AA here, it's actually doing a pretty good job. But it's not aliasing free.
its looks like some postprocessing AA implementation hence not appearing in captures bit its there in video

I dunno, KZ2's multiplayer with 32 players is really awesome. It's a clusterf*** but it's awesome!

Yeah, KZ2 had 32 players right? Why the hell did they lower the player count?

I am so sick of this crap.

IT seems like players counts in MP games are going down when they should be going up!

Because more isn't always better.

32 players KZ2 was a complete and utter clusterfuck.

I would rather play a game which has more thought behind it as opposed to throwing as many people in a game as possible without any regard to gameplay.

I for one am happy they've put a limit to 24. Killzone 2 really did shine at the lower player counts - think 12-24. The team-based objective-orientated gameplay was simply unmatched, but became a spawn camping grenade fest at 32. Sure, Radec Academy 32 players TDM may have been fun at times, but the novelty quickly wore off.

If you want to play a game with tons of players, then go play Planetside 2. I think you will quickly realise having an endless number of players per match isn't exactly fun.

I was so sick of games thinking the most players thrown into a match the better.

So I'm glad developers are starting to ratchet it down and get back to the sweat spot for fun online multiplayer.

I'll say it a million times. If you prefer games with lower player counts. Then just play in servers with lower player limits.

DONT ruin the fun for those of us who wants bigger battles!

They probably figured most Killzone players didn't care.
I know I definitely preferred 24 player matches over 32.

I really home custom games are treated just like KZ2, as in you could still level up like a normal match would.

GG does whatever the fuck they want. Stop acting like people in this thread have any effect on the development direction of the game. It's fucking ludicrous that you think because people disagree with you that they are "ruining the game". Get a grip.

KZ2 was sublime at 16. Anything more and the matches went to absolute chaos.

Well some of us loved the chaos so why not have higher count and give users the control to play with lower count. I think they already have taken care of that part with creating custom warzones with custom player count. So that argument doesn't work.

As I said earlier its better to design with higher player count because it can always scale down to lower count with smaller maps. Its a shame that they cut it down to 24 players as this engine would have handled the game fine with 32 too.

went ahead and repreordered Shadow fall along with infamous now that it has a february 2014 date. can't wait. hopefully i can make time between this and BF4

You fuck the balance big time unless you make it a separate mode ala BTB in Halo.

That's unfortunate but I would prefer if GG created the best possible MP experience with a target player count in mind.

The previous KZ games were all over the places in terms of map design and player counts, and it got boring quick.

Pretty much this. We seen what they did with KZ3. They just threw all these new ideas into it, whilst even increasing the effectiveness of the annoying things in KZ2. And the game went to hell.

I don't know what's going to happen here. The KZ2 player base was split because of the custom games. Some wanted 32 players/rockets/bots, some didn't. But a split community is better than none at all, and that is what KZ3 became. Struggle to even find games on that now.

Maybe this time they will not just do whatever the fuck they want. Maybe they have listened, and will cater to fans of KZ/KZ2, and make it customisable (in proper ranked games), so new and old players can play something they like. If they get the multiplayer right this time, the franchise could become massive.

So I don't understand, is KZ at gamescom or not? Are we getting any MP footage at all?

I'm not sure if this means anything, but the Gamescom Info thread says that August 21st is for trade visitors, then it opens to the public on August 22nd.

Maybe that is the reason? And we'll get footage starting tomorrow? Just a guess.

Really loving the look of this game.

I knew the game was going to look amazing, but I am realizing I was not prepared for just how amazing it will indeed look.

And to think, I will be playing this, DualShock 4 in hand, in a little under 3 months.

Where the hell is this game?

Day 1 of GamesCom and we have no proper footage of a match? All we have is some crappy off screen vids during the initial press conference.

WTF GG, fix this shit NOW!

Is it even on the show floor?

I thought it was going to be demo'd for an hour?

These new screens definitely look nice. I really wish this game was running at 60fps though. I just think more developers need to make that their target on these new consoles. I was super happy to hear 343 made that a priority going forward.

Let's see how that ends up looking. Right now, KZS is right up there for best looking game on next gen with Infamous Second Son.

You wouldn't think it's a launch title. We probably know more about Infamous SS at this point and that's 4 more months down the line.

Player count in this kind of game doesn't matter if the maps are done well. If the maps are freaking big (relatively speaking), then yeah, the count should be 32, but if it's done well, it can be 24.

(I still am a "more the merrier" person though!)

So the gamespot guy says the controls feel "sluggish" aka Killzone controls.

Also, R2 is shoot, but you can easily swap that around which is good to hear. He says that he feels it should still be R1 to shoot with the DS4.

Warzone is customisable. It makes no difference if they allow 32 or 24 since you can choose or make maps that have 24 players. Obviously to a lot of people 32 players is fun so they should allow that option.

They already screwed up with KZ3 making a lot of changes no-one wanted so I think it'd be wise of them to listen to what fans want. Hope people get on twitter/Facebook and nag them about this.

Also want to know if they are having server lists again. Much preferred KZ2's server lists to KZ3's matchmaking.

Maps need to be designed to accommodate player counts. Lot easier to make good maps for a 12-24 player standard count versus a 12-32 standard player count.

Sony offers huge battles with Planetside 2. Battlefield 4 gives a middle ground. Killzone: SF is clearly focused on people who like the intimacy of a smaller match.

It does make a difference. A huge one, in fact.

In KZ2 since 32 players was an option, every single lobby was 32 players. People assumed "more=better", but it was a giant clusterfuck and you could never find a well balanced game.

It was off putting to a lot of new comers as well...they'd see nothing but 32 player lobbies, get in a clusterfuck match, and quit.

There was no quality control. By limiting to 24 players, at least Guerilla is making sure that the maximum player count is well balanced and playable, and you can scale down even more from there.

Good decision on their part.
