So, what will you classify games costing 200-300 million?I dunno, a $40 million budget leans more towards AAA to me, not AA. Right?
Control was made on a $35m budget and that's pretty much an AAA game.
AAAA?

Cool, and AAA ought to have much higher production value and finesse. It doesn't matter what impresses you or not. AA developers aren't reaching this scale.

AAAA?
But it's the scope and result of the product that decides not the money spent no?

Indiana Jones probably had lower budget than this. Same for Hellblade 2.
I presume they must be profitable as well?
AAA, to me, always meant 'blockbuster' games.Yeah what is then? What are your criteria? This game is more impressive than most of the shite that has been released by AAA studios lately.
So let's say two studios produced Skyrim, one for 50 million and the other for 200 million, only the 200 million version would be deemed a AAA game?In my opinion, AA or AAA is signified by the game's budget.
I think the sales alone deems it a blockbuster game then, It's selling just as good or better than most recent blockbusters no?AAA, to me, always meant 'blockbuster' games.
Kingdom Come, to me, is more like a great arthouse movie.
But like I said, if it's considered AAA, I'm fine with it. It's not important in any way.

Current sales would put it in the AA categorie, alongside titles like Astro and Stellar Blade.I think the sales alone deems it a blockbuster game then, It's selling just as good or better than most recent blockbusters no?
This seems crazy to me too, even taking into account lower salaries in Czechland (but they are not THAT low, Prague is most expensive city here and studio must offer competitive wages to prevent people from leaving). Can someone please explain how spider man 2 cost 300 million and this cost 40. I really don't understand.
Solution , hire people in different states if in the US. Setup a game studio in Ohio , Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Florida, etc..Tbh, there's a big difference between Central European salaries and US West Coast salaries.
I know, same with poland where i live in, but for our western gaf-bros, anything behind former iron curtain(basically east of berlin) is eastern europe, so i simply didnt want to confuse them xDCzechia is in Central, not Eastern Europe.
Spiderman is of higher quality and has higher production value. Can someone please explain how spider man 2 cost 300 million and this cost 40. I really don't understand.
Isn't the Hans guy 15? Maybe he's older later in the game.Bruh, where did you hear that? Stop listening to every clickbait article / video on the internet.
And wages while lower aren’t 4-5x lower, but still even if it’s “just” half (closer to 1/3 most likely) that’s a big chunk of change.Czechia is in Central, not Eastern Europe.
Age is not explicitly mentioned in the game. I think the real guy died in his very early 20s thoughIsn't the Hans guy 15? Maybe he's older later in the game.
they achieved alot with only 40 million , mocap , voice acting , travels for terrain scanning etc.
Spiderman is of higher quality
No way, Indiana must be at least 100 mil, Hellblade maybe but it wasn't full priceIndiana Jones probably had lower budget than this. Same for Hellblade 2.

i believe the only things that are better in spider man are texture quality ( but only is some area ) and facial animationsSpiderman is of higher quality and has higher production value.
Whether or not Spiderman is better is subjective.
Edit:
Plus marketing.
No.Is it true that you can romance a 15-year old boy in this game? Sounds very sketchy if true.

To be fair in those days 15 years old is considered middle aged given the life expectancyNo.
Where did you hear such stupid shit?
Then Sony PlayStation’s Concord must have been AAAA.In my opinion, AA or AAA is signified by the game's budget.
No.

If it's set in 1403 and Hans is based on Jan Ptáček of Pirkštejn then that'd make him 15 in the game. But maybe there are time jumps in the game or Warhorse is just loosely basing it on Jan.
I think you have to set aside your prepositions on what a grown up are today. In the pre-modern era children as young as 4-5 years old was seen as not children but small adults. Having a 15-year old doing something as responsible, important and grown up as what they're doing in the game is absolutely in character for the time. If your listen to how people speak about Hans though you hear how they all think he's immature and so on, that's because he really is a teenager, so is Henry. But again, people "grew up" earlier back then. The sanctity of the child is something modern which came to be part of western culture only the past 100 years. If it's set in 1403 and Hans is based on Jan Ptáček of Pirkštejn then that'd make him 15 in the game. The difference between AA and AAA graphic blurred in the past years, robocop look better than sp2 when you go down in the streets in both games, ue5 enabled indie\aa developers to rival AAA games.Does it look like one?
So then it's not an indicator. Concord is a AAA game but its shite right? I think KCD2 does more than most AAA releases the past 5 years. The difference between AA and AAA graphic blurred in the past years, robocop look better than sp2 when you go down in the streets in both games, ue5 enabled indie\aa developers to rival AAA games.
Just look at expeditions 33.
Take it up with the dev. Here’s your 200M game, bro
I'm just talking about graphic here.So then it's not an indicator. Concord is a AAA game but its shite right? I think KCD2 does more than most AAA releases the past 5 years.
Now, just imagine how much more they could have made if it was a live service game!
Obviously he is aged up in the games. They hired 23 year old actor (now 30) for a reason. Both Hans and Henry are supposed to be around 20, although exact age is not (intentionally) specified. If it's set in 1403 and Hans is based on Jan Ptáček of Pirkštejn then that'd make him 15 in the game. How much did bg3 costed?Probably the best RPG this year "only" cost 40M, proving (again) that you don't need to waste +100M to make great games, as the media and CEOs love to parrot.
Nice, Zanger Bob!
