Honestly there's not much to it. Ranged magic is important for the second phase but he's pretty predictable.

Every time I read TWEWY it makes me want a new one ç_ç
I cant manage to block or dodge most of his attacks. That thing where the red arm like thing is coming towards you in particular, but just about everything I can't dodge with a decent success rate. I guess i"ll load my deck up with all ranged attacks though. Right now its all melee stuff.

literally I just blocked using Riku's dark barrier with dark aura counter, I hardly attacked him, other than that just have a bunch of cure spells and or potions
had the aura Lion and Keeba tiger as my dream eaters, make sure what ever dreameaters you have have alot ot HP and Defense boosters, also make sure you get combo plus nodes done(thos are permanent and don't go away when you switch dream eaters)

Actually the last batch of bosses in rikus story where really strong... not fair strong but strong
Young Xehanort and Ventus Nightmare were both pretty fair and strong I thought. Xemnas and Ansem were kinda meh.
But the more I play for completion the more I'm realizing that Riku just has better combat options than Sora and Dark Roll is just 2gud.
Guess I'll do the exact same set up for Sora and Riku.
You might as well create a separate deck for both of them that has 5 Balloonra/Balloonga and 3 Curagas. Can't really go wrong with that.
Then another deck with commands you would actually want to use for fun encounters.

The game's more or less designed to have Riku outpace Sora in levels *and* generally get better exclusive endgame abilities. I don't think any of that is an accident at all.

Rikus combos are trash so i barely use him.
His dream eater links are 1000x better though. Fire raid destorys the final bosses.

DARKNESS doesn't control Riku, Riku controls the DARKNESS!
It fits with the theme of Riku generally knowing his shit versus Sora just winging it (and how the story gradually shifts from being focused on Sora to actually being Riku's game), it's just weird that we've got two characters in the game and the one with the larger worlds to explore never really grows beyond midgame strength.

Grabbed the Platinum in Dream Drop Distance today. Finally time to check out 0.2
How was the experience pursuing the Platinum? I'm almost to the end of the game and going back and forth on if I want to do it. I do like to complete journals in KH games so that should get me close enough to a Plat anyway.
I lost about 200 times against the red eyed dreameater with the coat. He had an attack which drains your hp to 1 and drops it as health orbs... that dont heal nearly as much as you lost.
Young Xehanort also had a few attack combos, which just dropped you from 100 to 0
Well there's plenty of that throughout the whole series, so that's kinda whatever here. DDD just has the unglamorous job of somehow tying together 10 years worth of side stories into a lead-in for the finale.

It's grindy you can't escape that. But I honestly didn't think it was too bad, I thought BBS Platinum was way worse. First of all you need to play at least on Proud for that cheeky Exp Zero ability which is needed for the "Ability Ace" trophy. Luckily when you're playing games with your Dream Eaters - the Candy Googles one can be exited out right away and you still get the Exp and what not(when doing this, mute the TV and listen to something else).
Great trophy guide as well.
Oh wow, I did not know the candy goggles trick. Everyone said to do water barrel for the most EXP and while its the most fun of the games, I couldn't imagine grinding that for hours on end. Thanks for the tip!

It might work with the other minigames too, but at least on Candy Googles you can level up affection at the same time.

What's the fastest way to get the Ability Ace trophy on NG+? Is the last trophy I need. Also, do I need to finish the game again in order for the file to update with the new Dream Eaters I got or can I just use the save data I currently have?

Secret bosses like him and Mysterious Figure are the reason I don't have too much faith in KH3's extra content.

Really enjoying exploring these wonderful locations with Flowmotion. Also liking the monster collecting aspect of the game too.

I would love for this world to return in KHIII. An amusement park would be fantastic in Unreal Engine 4, and summoning those attractions would be great too

It's your own fault if you decide to cheese your way through a game like DDD with a barrage of Balloons. No one forces you to choose such a lame tactic. The command list doesn't just automagically fill up with those, it's a choice you as a gamer make. If you want to enjoy a more challenging, engaging approach, maybe don't pick the most OTT powerful command in the game and spam that from now to eternity.
That's like whining about how easy it is to cheese through Bayonetta with dodge-offset + light-heavy-light combo (with the katana in hand). Both games give you plenty of tools that help keep it varied, fun and at least somewhat challenging or at least engaging & more involved than just spamming one overly powerful attack
(note: not comparing KH combat system to Bayonetta, just that most if not (almost) all action games have ways to cheese through battles in ways that circumvent actually learning the ins and outs of the combat system & enemy move sets to fight them the way they were "designed" to be fought against.)
Not saying KH boss designs are perfect or that they shouldn't try to balance spells like Balloon better, but bitching about Balloon/ra/ga spam is kind of dumb when you could just NOT fill your command list with them and choose other special attacks instead that require a bit more effort or leave the player a bit more vulnerable so they can't be spammed without any though.
Damn. That's right on the money.

Reveal the background events that you keep hearing about in KHUX. That was the only point of the film.
It honestly means little for people who don't care or aren't aware about that part of the canon. I enjoyed it. and seeing the revelation about the Book of Prophecies finally come to light was great after so much speculation from people.
