CGMagazine - Chris De Hoog - 10 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land's Switch 2 Edition is the best paid upgrade yet, and a worthy addition to one of the Switch's finest platformers.
COGconnected - James Paley - 70 / 100

The game looks and performs just as it did back in 2022. I hesitate to recommend something so expensive, but the game is still a lot of fun. Returning fans won't want to miss this one, however. Star-Crossed World is a delightful addition to an already excellent Kirby game.
Cerealkillerz - Steve Brieller - German - 8.6 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + The Star Shard World for the Switch 2 is still one of the best games in the series and now even comes with a bit of extra content. However, The Star Shard World doesn't reinvent the wheel; instead, it offers a very well-made level pack that's fair enough as a €20 upgrade version. But offering the complete package in the eShop for €80, in our opinion, goes beyond what a game should cost three years after its release.
Checkpoint Gaming - Tom Quirk - 8.5 / 10

Overall, Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World brings a decent amount of new content to the table. The new Mouthful Mode abilities are great and work well in the new Starry Stages. While the lack of new Copy Abilities and a large number of reskinned familiar enemies might be a bit disappointing, the new content overall is certainly worth the cost of an upgrade pack for existing owners of the base game. For those who missed the original, the new content and performance improvements make it the best version of a fantastic platformer by far, and easily worth recommending to Switch 2 owners looking for a memorable experience.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 8 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World should not be missed. Not only does it upgrade the base game for the Switch 2, which is one of the best Kirby games already, but it also adds a fun and out-of-this-world expansion filled with fun powers and tons of Kirby charm. The Star-Crossed World expansion adds new and exciting levels filled with new enemies and new items Kirby can use to save the world from the encroaching darkness. It also looks incredible on the Switch 2, propping the latest Nintendo console against a stable of back-to-back incredible launch titles.
Digitec Magazine - Kevin Hofer - German - 5 / 5

This delightful upgrade more than justifies the extra cost of the Switch 2 Edition.
Everyeye.it - Italian - 8.5 / 10

Kirby and the Lost Land returns to Nintendo Switch 2 in an improved and expanded version. For those who have never explored the post-apocalyptic landscapes explored by HAL Laboratory's little pink sphere, this is the perfect opportunity to revisit a fun, colorful platformer with brilliant art direction.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 82%

At roughly three to four hours long, depending on your playstyle and skill level, the scope of the new content is also appropriate. Therefore, we're giving it a slightly higher rating than the original Switch version. It remains a truly enjoyable, feel-good platformer—but ultimately, the Switch 2 version doesn't quite deliver a massive leap forward in gameplay.
Hobby Consolas - Spanish - 85 / 100

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + The Astral World is the definitive version of one of the most creative platformers of recent years. New levels, much-needed technical improvements, and more additions bolster an already well-rounded game. No matter how much you gulp, Kirby never gets sick.
IGN - Tom Marks - 7 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land's Star-Crossed World add-on throws a handful of fun new levels into the mix, but isn't the kind of substantial upgrade that will irresistibly suck you in like one of Kirby's mouthfuls.
IGN Spain - Alex Verdía - Spanish - 9 / 10

Brilliant level design that reimagines the base game: astral flowers and new transformations elevate the pace and verticality. Some sections with Cartel get stuck, but the smile doesn't fade.
Nintendo Life - PJ O'Reilly - 9 / 10

Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World gives you the base Forgotten Land experience at a delicious 60fps with a whole big bunch of new content thrown in for good measure. The 12 remixed areas that make up the DLC are uniformly delightful, the new transformations are excellent, and there's even new challenges for hardcore Kirby fans to get stuck into. One of the best games on Switch, and one of my favourite 3D platformers in years, polished to a sparkly sheen and packing some meaningful new content? That's a very easy recommendation and a truly excellent addition to the Switch 2's early lineup.
Quest Daily - Mark Santomartino - 9 / 10

If you're a Kirby fan or a parent with kids, this one's a no brainer.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 9 / 10

A very unique, beautiful and rich experience gets even better. The only fault that can be leveled at it is that the slow pace is sometimes too slow.
Siliconera - Jenni Lada - 9 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World Switch 2 Edition, with its improved performance and delightful expansion, is better and more essential than the original.
Spaziogames - Italian - 8.8 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land remains a must-play platformer for Switch and Switch 2 owners. While it doesn't quite reach the heights of Super Mario Odyssey, HAL Laboratory delivers a stellar 3D reinvention of Kirby. The Star-Crossed World expansion blends seamlessly with the base game, adding variety and longevity. The only drawback is a price point that feels fair for the content, but was poorly communicated by Nintendo.
TheGamer - Jade King - 4 / 5

I can see Nintendo making these lush revivals a common occurrence on its new platform, and after Forgotten Land, that would be no bad thing.
TheSixthAxis - Steve C - 9 / 10

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World is the definitive version of one of the Switch's best games and this game in any form is practically an essential purchase. The new content is well worth the upgrade price too, but if you sold your copy of the Switch version then the full price to return is pretty steep.

$80 is total insanity. This isn't even a Switch 2 game. Unbelievable.

It is the best Kirby game but that's nuts. Nothing I saw about the additional 3-4 hour extra content, largely overlaid on existing levels, seems worth $20.

You can pick up a preowned copy for less than half of that, then pay the upgrade price. That's what I did. Only cost me £40.
Of course there are work arounds, but the retail price is still very expensive. I used CostCo and vouchers to get it down to $45 + $18, so not TOO bad, but that doesn't change the retail price of this overpriced package.

Totally, I'm agreeing with you don't worry. There's no way I'd be paying full price for this. I've never played it, so for £40 I'm happy to try it.

I want to poke fun or pushback on various review quotes for various reasons. Ignore this if you don't want to go that wormhole.

The quote where they see Nintendo making lush revivals a common occurrence. Not going to happen. They announced the S1 stuff appearing on S2 and that's it. ...this comes out of poeple's mouths too easily because Switch had a ton of Wii U ports. But Wii U didn't sell at all. And Switch did and it was a handheld as well and roughly the same power too. PLus all Switch games are b/c.

The quote where they hesitate to recommend it because it's so expensive. IT's a $60 game with $20 DLC. List price wise it's the going rate for 1st party games on Switch. PLus if you buy physical you have a substantial resale value.

The quote where they say if you sold your copy then the price is steep. Well that goes with any game you sell and rebuy. At least in terms of 1st party Nintendo titles which generally stay at list price except for sales.

The one that says the game shouldn't be £80 3 years after. Ok but again that's list price for all 1st party Nintendo Switch games plus the cost of the dlc which the same review quote says is well worth it.

That's it. Personally I played the game a few years ago and had fun but completed only maybe 1/5th of it. I had my fill and moved on. It is cute. Delightful. But also slow and relatively easy. And the experience is sort of like you're playing with your hot wheels and toy soldiers in your room ...if they were all pink.

I enjoyed the Return to Dreamland more back in the day. To the point where I was waiting to see the Switch version at a cheap pricepoint to check it out again. I resisted the urge so far... probably need to see $20 one time deal or something to get it as there is a high chance I wouldn't get aroundtuit.

I'm interested in knowing what resolution increase it got in the end.

the treehouse footage showed it running at 1080p, even tho they claimed it's 1440p.

1440p seemed to only apply to the HUD tho.

the notable upgrade is that it runs at 60fps now.

Value is subjective.

Overall, IMO it is a nice upgraded package if you have a switch 2 and have never played the game.
I spent 20 bucks to upgrade my switch 1 copy and picked up the switch 2 physical to add it to my collection.

Vote with your wallet either way.

Forgotten Land is/was one of the best surprises on the Switch 1 :messenger_smiling_with_eyes: never got into Kirby games but I loved this one.

I am a bit disappointed it not like Mario World and Bowser's Fury, where you are getting a brand new area rather than the remix's. Due to this its not top of my list right now but when the time comes it will be an upgrade, like many have said much better to get the Switch 1 and upgrade.

I'll get around to it, would've like this in early August when not much was coming out and not right now when I have Story of Seasons today and Hollow Knight next week (and then pretty consistent releases every other week until November!)

Maybe I'll just wait and double up my Kirby fun time in November.
