Meteos, Yoshi, Wario, Mr. Driller, Metroid= Che's Shit list??
I 100% Agree
Lets give this handheld race a few more months until we start with the (oh yeah bannable if you dont get paid to be an Xbox fan) Nitnendo DS is doomed-chespace quotes. Thanks
chespace said:Up against the PSP in the long haul, the DS will continue to slide... and as a result, Nintendo will continue to lose mindshare in the handheld market. It's not good. Thanks.
Flynn said:Isn't this a given, whether you think the DS is a great handheld or not?
Nintendo had an effective lock on the handheld market. Sony entered the handheld market. Nintendo loses mindshare.
This loss of mindshare/marketshare is altogether unavoidable regardless of game quality, etc. It's simple mathematics.
Now how much mindshare Nintendo loses is another story.

Yet you still manage time for snappy nicknames. Hey, shouldn't you be riding another publication into oblivion or something?chespace said:Argh, too much shit to do at work to respond to a sashimitroll and the president of the Nintendo handheld defense force.
Then why say June?chespace said:I wasn't talking about June.
So in essence, the DS drought ends when the PSP drought starts.chespace said:I'm talking about the drought. June obviously ISN'T the drought. The drought months begin in Jan and effectively end in June.
Wait are we talking "triple A" or "worth buying"?chespace said:So why don't we take a look at the bullshit in between Jan. and June. If you take the "triple A" releases in that time period, you get Yoshi, Wario, Polarium, Pac-Pix, and Egg Monster Hero.
What about Puyo Fever or NFSU2? Both look like pretty decent interpretations actually, Puyo being the best handheld version even.chespace said:So okay, maybe 4 worthy games at most -- two of which lack legs; one of which is yet ANOTHER puzzle game, and... one that's an X factor.![]()
Game Gear did rather well, selling about 9-10 million units. Compared to Game Boy's 50 million or so, it was proportionately a more significant competitior than Xbox or GameCube have proven this generation.chespace said:You seem to forget a whole line of would-be competitors to the Game Boy dynasty that did squat to Nintendo's mindshare, even on a pure mathematic level.

My point is, they're fucked now because it's Sony and because it's the PlayStation brand.

I'd certainly agree that the touch screen is more important... but since getting the DS it seems more to me that the dual screen is more an obvious thing. They seem to have decided that a flipping system for screen protection is the way to go, so if they decide to make a wide system there's going to be plenty of extra space to work with on the flipped-up portion... and there are fewer ways that extra space could be better used than to double the amount of screen you have.GaimeGuy said:I still think the dual screens part of the DS is basically useless. The touch screen is the true innovation.

Not that any sort of justification should really be demanded from anyone for the time they spend on this board. What have you contributed "to life" recently?

Bebpo said:In Japan if they dropped the DS software prices to $30-35 I'd like the system a bit more. But it never happened with GBA games and I doubt it'll happen here.
Bebpo said:While Kirby and Yoshi are really great games that every DS owner needs to have, it doesn't change my feelings that the DS is a waste of money (mainly in all this crappy software) and the worst system I've ever bought. When you spend $50 on a DS game and you're bored of it within 2 hours and never play it again...well it sucks. Especially when it keeps happening with each release. When PSP games cost less and on average lasts 15+ hours with great visuals and audio, it just makes getting let down by DS releases even worse.

Right now I can't find a game to hold my attention for DS or PSP.
Is there a special Nintendo tax in your area or something? DS games are usually 4800 (or 4320 with the usual reductions) while PSP games are 5040 (4500) The only remotely expensive DS games are third party titles that cost the same as PSP games.Bebpo said:Usually closer to the $40-45 price point vs. DS's constant $50 for every game.

Well on PSP, give MGA a try (~24 hours for main story + good replay value), Lumines lasts for quite a while, Ridge Racers will take you about 10-15 hours to beat all the courses. When Hot Shots Golf hits the US, that's like 20-30 hours easily if you want all the courses/items.

I do agree completely that all the PSP games have much more volume than the DS games, but that is something I really don't mind because I like short, sharp games these days.
chespace said:I'm nearing the 30 hour mark on MGA and I still haven't beaten it. But that's because I've been trying to get S grades (no kills, no alerts, and fast) on all the levels. Very very very very hard. I think it might actually be impossible on some of them to not get seen and not kill guards.
This might be a side effect of your location, I don't know. I'm really surprised the shops are discounting PSP software but not Nintendo software - maybe it's just because they can get away with it. Don't you have stores like Bic Camera or Sakuraya? They usually discount everything, not just PSP games.Bebpo said:Well I don't have any really nice discount stores up here. All my DS games run up at the register as 4800, whereas the PSP games like Dynasty Warriors/Popolocrois are 4500.
Jonnyram said:Don't you have stores like Bic Camera or Sakuraya?
Bebpo said:One of the usual gamefaqs posters put 99 hours into the import since he went for a complete card collection and all S ranks.
Personally I never went for ratings on my first run through. I took the easier, kill every enemy in the area and then search for card packs, route. I think I killed every enemy in the game actually![]()
There's a few actually.Bebpo said:Not too mention PSP has it's share of lower priced releases with Mojipittan, Namco Museum, and Lumines all running under 4000yen. Where are the cheaper 4000yen DS games?
