First thing I thought of when I saw the cover was the Dedede mech from the trailer for the unreleased Gamecube game. Here's hoping it finally sees the light of day.
Guess someone never played Returnt to DreamLand:

Or Mass Attack's Kirby Quest:
latest

Are you sure this isn't just the same thing as the Waddle Dee trains in Triple Deluxe that you could derail as Supernova Kirby? I would guess Kirby just decided to hit the Waddle Dees as they drove by because Kirby's a monster.
Given the background of the picture that seems to be the case.

  • Need a quick fix? Take on challenges in a 3D space and aim for a high score in Kirby 3D Rumble.
  • Use the mysterious Robobot Armor to scan enemies and shape-shift into powerful Modes.
  • Employ new and improved Copy Abilities including:
    - Doctor: Use clip boards, throw pills, and mix concoctions.
    - ESP: Wear a cool hat and use psychic abilities.
    - Poison: Spray toxic mists and other noxious abilities.
    - Super Smash Bros.: Gain Kirby's updated Super Smash Bros.™ move set.
  • Enjoy a selection of additional game modes, including Meta Knightmare Returns (time trial mode), Kirby 3D Rumble (score attack game), and The Arena.
  • Collect hidden code cubes and stickers in every level and use the stickers to decorate your Robobot Armor.

Poison, ESP, and Meta Knightmare Returns? Awwww yeeeeeee

Still irrationally salty about Smash being changed to Smash Bros. tho

Footage on the Japanese site stuff seems to indicate that 1. the mech segments work like the hypernova sections where there's some puzzles involved and not like the super abilities where it's just pointless god mode and 2. If the picture on the main page and box art is an indication the game is made up of at least 6 worlds. You can see that metal sphere that's probably the final world sticking into 5 different areas, three of which are the plains, desert, and ocean.

High score part pleases me greatly

Wasn't RtD built from the remnants of the cancelled Gamecube game?

There are a few different cancelled games between Kirby 64 and Kirby Wii but they're apparently unconnected despite seeming extremely similar from the outside.
.
Kirby Mass Attack has references to eeeeeeeverything--every Kirby game, characters from the cartoon, obscure HAL games--and that DDD robot design made its first official appearance in the RPG minigame from Mass Attack as a direct reference to the cancelled Gamecube game.

Meh, another mainline Kirby game. I want spin-offs like Canvas Curse and Mass Attack not extremely easy platformers.
The main hook also doesn't look interesting; get overpowered and destroy everything in your path. Yawn, that's never fun.

After this it's time for the next iteration of the best Kirby Spin Off: Dream Course 2 Wii U or NX please.

This looks nice! I'm a little bit behind, still have to finish the 4 player Wii one.

Yes. I would love Dream Course 2!

Dunno why there's complaints about UFO being locked behind an amiibo. It's always been a powerup that shows up once, maybe twice in a game and is completely overpowered until you're forced to ditch it at the end of the level. Not really missing out on much,

But.. But... It's so cute.

UFO kirby >>>>

I remember those days when you actually could die in a kirby game; Nightmare in dreamland, superstar, amazing mirror...

The only thing that's remotely difficult in Kirby games is the True Arena, which is something only the post-Superstar Ultra games have.

Eeeh, doesn't really interest me at all, but then newer Kirby games haven't really interested me for quite a few years now. The main game just kinda looked like Triple Deluxe with a robot suit tacked on top.

Even if this game is half as good as Triple Deluxe, it'll be great. Looking forward to it.

And those amiibo are fucking awesome.

Was triple deluxe that good? I think that's the only one I haven't played.

It's really good. Gameplay wise it's a direct sequel to Return to Dreamland and it's just as good if not a little better. The "gimmick" in TD, the supernova ability, feels better utilized than the mega abilities in RtD.
