A member of rapper 50 Cent's entourage was shot Monday night outside the studios of radio station Hot 97 in the West Village, police said.
The rapper was not hurt in the 10 p.m. shooting, which occurred at the scene of a 2001 shooting involving rapper Lil' Kim's entourage.
Police said members of 50 Cent's entourage were leaving the building when they encountered a group of what were described as fans of 50 Cent outside the studio. An argument broke out, and the assailant was among those who were waiting outside, police said.
The victim, who is from Los Angeles and is in his 20s, was shot in the left leg. No arrests had been made.
At the time of the shooting, 50 Cent was being interviewed by DJ Funkmaster Flex. 50 Cent is promoting his new album, The Massacre, which comes out on Thursday.
Michael Lemma, 22, of Fordham, was listening to the interview on the car radio near the station when the shooting broke out. "There were a lot of people out there. All of a sudden I hear a bunch of shots."
