'Knockout King' and other crimes are scaring the hell out of me.

Guys, this doesn't seem to be "man black people sure are scary, damn am I right guys?" It's "man, this game where people assault random strangers is scary, isn't it?"

OP has somewhat of a point. I don't think drawing a comparison to police brutality is apt or even applicable really, because police are held to different standards and are supposed to protect civilians, and that's a problem that seems more widespread. The "Knockout Game" is also done by a select few morons. But, this doesn't change the fact that it is actually a scary thing.

No.

It's just obvious racist bullshit we've all seen a million times before. "The LIBERAL MEDIA is just trying to distract you with false claims of racism while DANGEROUS BLACK PEOPLE are out here preying on innocent victims, but of course THEY WON'T TELL YOU ABOUT THAT BECAUSE AGENDAS" etc.

Don't worry OP. You'll likely die from a heart attack, and not a roaming pack of black youths performing a perverse street gang game.

Most of these never got the same level of attention.

Should they?
One thing is criminals beeing criminals.
The other thing is the institution we created, pay with taxdollars and give great authority to, to protect and serve all citizens beeing incompetent and a danger to the life of citizens.

Just to put this shit in perspective.

SHARK ATTACKS

The number of shark attacks across the country is slightly above average for this time of year, and many of the incidents have occurred farther north than usual.

There have been 23 attacks in 2015, of which one in Hawaii was fatal, according to data from the International Shark Attack File at the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida.
My god the sharks are coming for us.

LIGHTNING!

U.S. Lightning Deaths in 2015: 21

Is god trying to punish us?

So just to be clear you are more likely to be struck by lightning and DIE or be attacked by a shark than to be a victim of the Knockout King game.

Pull up your panties OP, if you want to be scared of something be scared of crossing the street or driving to work on a highway. Statistically, getting hit by a bus or involved in a mangling car crash is what you need to worry about.

Yes, but statistics didn't set his stress response and emotional well-being off kilter ... I can't imagine what did ...

A good way to tell it's just racist bullshit is that the events he brought up that get attention instead of this horrifying game are Ferguson and Baltimore.

He could have said the media pays too much attention to Iran or people are too busy watching the latest Marvel movie or that it gets lost among any number of things in the news cycle.

But no, it's Ferguson and Baltimore, two events with racial overtones, and how you should REALLY be thinking about black people randomly walking up and punching you.

Its so ironic that I watched Nightcrawler last night. The OP is like the perfect audience that the movie was trying to display news too. We need stories about minorities committing crimes against white people!

You only have to look a few posts down on the same page and the OP was upset that a black person (Michael Jackson) got more press coverage for his death than other white people. Its pretty blatant.

I appreciate that you've taken the time to actually participate in the thread you created Shadownet. I usually stay out of threads that start off like yours did because the OP makes a statement and doesn't say anything else. They're shit stirrers but you're actually interested in hashing out something that actually concerns you.

I wonder after you've talked with certain people in this if you now agree while it is a something worth talking about your convinced it didn't need as much attention as the abuse and misapplication of police power?

I mean, couldn't this be look at from both point of views? I've seen video of police officers doing their job correctly and some can mistaken that for a racial attack. People act out upon it.

I do agree with you that American police kill a lot of people, but I don't think the fault rest entirely with them. There are many sides to be blame.

Is this an opinion you hold about how the riots played out or do you feel mistakes were made that led to various victims getting shot by an officer as well?

Sheesh. While I was typing this up OP gets banned before I'm even halfway through.

If you're reading this Shadownet the lesson you should take away from this is that you should ask yourself what is your motivation to bring up certain specifics. Bringing up these racially motivated attacks with the racial injustice of the police in America leaves little room for interpretation.

You make a point. Now I dunno.

OP seems to have been relatively civil in this thread so far... your move, OP?

Dang, I was gonna offer the OP a list of Dates, Times & Locations of the next 5 Knockout King events for the top 5 games on my Steam wishlist.

knockout king back in the 'news'?

For an easily verifiable urban legend with obviously racist undertones, people keep falling for it.

Jesus fuck Shadownet, what the hell? You really should have thought better than doing this thread.

Shit like the "Knockout King" are nothing more than a fucking urban legend. It's like every other idiotic newsline about "Look at this wacky dangerous challenge that is all the rage with teens today!". They are fucking hoaxes and fabrications in the first place. Usually maybe one teenager does a dumb thing(not as a challenge) and every fucking news source will publish it as the "New dangerous viral challenge that is sweeping the nation!" Of course, there is bound to be a idiot or two that actually did it(probably about hearing about the "new trendy challenge" in the news), but they are never a epidemic. You should be more scared of a shark killing you in the middle of a desert. That's how unlikely you are to be a victim of the "Knockout King". You have fucking nothing to be scared about.

Even the first link you had linked to a banned source that was from a basically white supremacist website. You will find that most of the time news sources are doing nothing more than racially-motivated fear mongering, using the knockout king "game" as way to group all seemingly random/no motive discovered assaults done by black guys as one so they can tell people :"Hey, look out! Those black kids will try to punch and knock you out randomly on the street!"

But if the thread was only about the Knockout King, I'd would give you a pass. But linking news from a racist site with the title " a white family getting beat by a group of 20-30 african-american teenagers unprovoked" and then saying that it's scary that Ferguson and Baltimore events got much more attention that the things you posted... like, WTF MAN? Is it that hard to understand that some freak iccidents that either never happened, were a hoax or used in a misinformed way, or are extremely rare don't get the same attention as events that are the result of police brutality and their treatment of black people, shit that happens repeadetly every single day and are a massive problem in the US? (The fact that you even double down on your views when confronted with the truth is even more baffling.)

You have no right to be fucking terrified to be a victim of things of shit that happens as rarely as being struck by lightning while trying to compare that with Ferguson and Baltimore. Like, how fucking blind are you? Just look at the ammount of times police kills or brutally beats black people for even the most innocuous shit ever. That yes, it's fucking terrifying.

Back to the shadows for OP I guess. Stay safe bruh. Make sure to carry a whistle and some pepper spray with you when you go out.

To the degree that this phenomena exists, the people who are most likely to be randomly beaten are the ones living in neighborhoods that have a high crime rate already (regardless of race). If the OP is living in such a neighborhood his best recourse is to move. If not, then there's little reason to worry about it.

But maybe the media is partially to blame, because I remember seeing all kinds of sensationalized stories about the knockout game.

I just thought that people should take this a bit more seriously and just talk to children who might be acting out and doing stuff like this. I have a little brother, I certainly don't want him to grow up thinking that beating up people is fun, nor do I want him to be on the recieving end.

This kind of just solidifies the idea that Shadownet didn't really understand why people are upset about the topic. I'd say everone agrees that random violence is a Bad Thing that they wouldn't want to happen to them, but focusing on the "Knockout Game," which was made notable to further a racist police policy, feels either extremely naive/vulnerable to why it became notable or an attempt to spread FUD. It's attributing entirely random crime to a racially-pointed term.
