Konami Conference + Website Countdown

Are we going to see Kojima's new project?

Well we pretty much have to see it this week, Famitsu promised it.

Yeah I hope we see something, we've heard pretty much nothing from Konami, I was expecting MGS 4 to be there at Sony's conference yesterday but alas no.

I think the real question is, are we gonna see a new Goemon

Pro Evo online at launch would be one of the only things that could convince me to pick up an Xbox 360 at launch right now..

First up, Konami announced that Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, would become head of a new internal developer at the publisher. Inventively called Kojima Productions, the studio currently has three projects on its plate--MGS4 and two other Metal Gear Solid titles.

According to Kojima, who was on-hand to show off the games, the concept behind MGS4 will be "nowhere to hide." Set in a future world after Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the game will see the return of all the major characters from the series, including Solid Snake, Meryl, Otacon, Ocelot. It will also sport an online battle mode.

The second title is Metal Gear Acid 2, the sequel to the PSP card-battling game featuring series hero Solid Snake. The third is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for the PlayStation 2, a compilation of Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, and MGS3, as well as eight-person online multiplayer and several new game modes.

I guess BOKTAI would fall into that Kojima Productions label? 'Cause they have a game listed as being compatible with Nintendo DS Wi-Fi...

As expected: Kojima sticks to Sony consoles for his Metal Gear games. So what was the game he was working on according to Famitsu? Surely they weren't referring to Acid 2 or "Subsistence" ?

Subsistence? That guy that made a thread yesterday was right all the long i guess. I wonder if the MGS for PS2 will be a port of Twin Snakes? Either way, damn. Looks like Konami is finally ready to milk Metal Gear.

MGS3:Substance was already a must buy for me but..

holy hell what in the dear god almighty did they come up with.. 8 players?

They've supposedly been working on an online MGS since around MGS2. They just didn't get anywhere because MGS2's engine didn't support the game right, which is a big reason for them creating the MGS3 engine which was built in mind for what they wanted out of an online MGS.

Metal Gear Online has been reduced to a compilation add-on? :(

I'll still get it, I suppose. Here's hoping for some new media tonight.

Hot. Give MGS1 some high-res textures and optional first-person shooting and <3 <3 Kojima. And keep any silicon knights code as far away from it as possible.

Guess we won't be hearing about Kojima's new project, Famitsu is probably doing a preview of MGS or something.

Maybe the "new" project was a Boktai online game for DS? Then again, we would've probably seen that one in the Nintendo conference, if it were true..
If it's more Boktai though, than the milking has indeed really started over at Konami..
Yet there is no Zone of the Enders 3 ?? Booo-urns! :)

I gotta say though that MGS 3: Substance sounds like a bit of a kick in the balls to those who bought the first version of MGS 3.

I guess I'll wait for MGS4 on the PS3 for the online mode. I can't justify buying Sub after owning two versions of MGS (PS and GC), MGS2, 3 etc... that's almost Nintendo like right there. =/ So no new MGS4 trailer? Kind of disappointing...

I haven't even gotten to my copy yet, but at least I only paid $20 to put it on the shelf. I can imagine $50 buyers might be somewhat miffed.

In the online mode, players can choose "Team Battle" or "Snake vs. Enemies" and carry out missions cooperatively or competitively. Subsistence still offers the classic "MGS" elements, such as the carboard box disguise, infiltration, sniping, and close-quarters combat (CQC).

Jesus...

I would've been happy with just a 1 on 1 mode similar to boss battles online.

"Kojima Productions" has just embarked on its newest and greatest project - "Metal Gear Solid 4." "MGS1" and "MGS2" focused on infiltrating man-made structures, whereas "MGS3" concentrated on the challenge of the jungle environment.

"MGS4" brings a totally new concept and situation, resulting in the toughest "Metal Gear" infiltration mission ever devised.

The game is set after the events of "MGS2" and players will reprise the role of top secret agent Solid Snake. The game is slated for the "PS3TM," the next generation console from Sony.

Hideo Kojima will be in charge of game design, production, and direction. Also directing this game will be promising new prospect Shuyo Murata, who debuted on "Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner." Kenichiro Imaizumi will oversee production and character design will be handled by Yoji Shinkawa.

All of the intensity and experience available within "Kojima Productions" will be used to bring this newest "MGS" to life.
