"Project Jawbreaker"

Should be called "Project Lockjaw" from all the puss she's going to be eating.

Also the irony is this is what all guys wanted I'm sure at one point or another, hot Laura on hot girl action, but I'm sure CD will find a way to mess it up.

Probably a non binary explorer who had corrective surgery and ended up looking for ancient artifacts to take her mind off the fact it was just a phase and she cant go back and change it.

In all seriousness why does this stuff have to invade everything nowadays. This inclusion bollocks needs to blow over. As soon as this type of shit gets announced they lose a sale with me, I dont support this crap in any way shape or form.

And for any Resterans who lurk here, I have no issue with anyones gender choices, doesnt make any difference to my life if you believe you were born in the wrong body, just dont ram the shit down everybodys throat every chance you get.

I’m torn on this announcement

On the one hand I LOVE at how triggered some of you get at even the slightest mention of a gay in the village.

But on the other hand, this sounds so utterly shit and as someone who grew up with the TR games and really loves the franchise and the character, I just despair at what square, CD and the Montreal studio have done with it….

The older I get, the more I see my favorite franchises and characters from my childhood go down in flames.

I used to the the physical aspects of getting older was the worst part, and maybe it is maybe it isn't. But I never considered the pain of watching the world go to shit before you croak.

Exactly. I'm fucking tired devs going the lazy route and using romance, of any kind, to be the core part of the story, or substitute it entirely, instead of a good fucking story.

Make Tomb Raider find dinossaurs and find out why they are alive, make her find an ancient alien civilization and the reason why they were on earth. A real story, instead of this novela shit.

Same reason they shoehorn it in everything else (TV, movies, books, etc.), is to appeal to a wider audience.

They probably know that if they include it in a new entry it won't alienate that many people from the core audience. I mean how big of a loss is it if they lose a small fraction of the core fan base, but are able to reel in more new people as a result.

I assume that's the mentality a lot of these companies have. It's definitely risky, but it must work, since companies keep doing it over and over again with their franchises.

They have to force lesbians, gays and trans in every media. Can't they just make a game that has a good gameplay and interesting story without any sexual relationship with another cast member (homosexual or heterosexual)?
What does "forced" mean in this situation?

Could you give me some examples of forced heterosexual relationships in media and unforced heterosexual relationships.

Guess she’s gonna have to knock the cobwebs off of that.

This is getting ridiculous, I feel like way more time is being put into a convoluted storyline (why?????) then any kind of game design or mechanics these days with games.

Just let me explore a hand full of tombs around the planet while chasing down some dude trying to take the treasures and selling them on the black market, there’s your fucking story.

Why do you assume Lara’s pronouns are she/her? This is problematic thinking.

I could not care less what sexual orientation a fictional character has, but it always bothers me that publishers feel the need to drive that point home early on, as if to get sympathy accolades for being progressive. Work on improving your franchise mechanics, push the envelop in terms of tech, art and story, and players will follow.

A grave cataclysm happens - all men on earth die under inexplicable reasons. It is now up to strong powerful lesbian Lara Croft to find the cause of this mystery and lead a group of female explorers into reshaping a better and diverse Earth.

Sorry for leaking the rest of the plot guys.

A couple of games featuring lesbians in the endless sea of hetero couples in games for decades and you all malding like motherfuckers. Holy shit.
It's not the non-hetero couples thats the issue. It's the *WHY* they're being put into things. It's not for good story telling, it's for diversity points and "inclusivity" so that the twitter mob doesn't explode and get you cancelled. Doesn't help when they start changing established characters as well.
Make up a brand new strong lesbian hero, all for it, dont just change current ones because they're already popular.

You mean like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Halo Infinite, Far Cry 6, RE Village, Outriders, and the vast majority of other games just released in the past year or so that have nothing to do with romantic relationships?

Like besides TLOU2 I am struggling to think of any recently that made it an actual story point and not completely player optional like Cyberpunk.
They remake one franchise that had her sexuality not explored in the previous iterations, so why now? The problem is not if a character is lesbian or not, the problem is that they want to push their bullshit to everyone and rewrite everything from the beginning with a agenda in mind. They can easily create a tomb explorer that is lesbian or whatever and call it Ema Johnson instead of ruining a established character.

Woke Lara being a lesbian would not surprise me at all. Would explain not caring too much about the death of the white nerd guy in the Reboot and how Jonah is always her voice of reason for all her poor life choices. And would make her friendship with Sam very different I guess.

Lara more often then not in the Reboot has a messiah complex and tends to cause all these calamities to happen by ironically being just as bad as Dr. Whitman.

The thing that disgusts me with these hacks they call "writers" is that they try and make characters "gay" or "lesbian" and make that "the character". Instead of fleshing out the character with just being gay, lesbian or wants to fuck a tree as just a very small factor of what the character is.

There isn't anything wrong with the sexual orientation, it has everything to do with a character being poorly written and pretending to be something they aren't.

Lara I feel functions much better as a character who is too obsessed with the next adventure and the next great treasure then to have time to worry about sexuality. Actual independent girl too busy for romanticism.

There are not forced hetero relationship just forced gay relationship down to our throat with every game, show or movie.
You want an example, then I give you one: I saw recently the resident evil show on Netflix. Why was the boss of ambrela lesbian? Did it add anything to the story? Or was just because they had to have one lesbian couple ?

I don't care if she's gay/ bi.
I just want Lara Croft back...
Not this psychotic wreck in the reboot and boring frumpy character.

I want the fun and larger than life femme fatale adventurer back.
You can make her gay and trans I don't care if we could just get back the real Lara Croft again.

I mostly enjoyed the RE show tbh but
yeah the guy having two moms was a checklist ingredient to score political points. Wasn’t as strange as black Wesker though, I thought they would explain it by rebuilding him from some mixed DNA or something but they never did.

endless sea of hetero couples in games for decades
Can you list a few?
I only know about Nathan and Elena.

There is no morality in this world.

We live in a hypersexualised society that also seems to want to infest the mind's of children with such hypersexualisation.

Frankly I'm just bothered by the fact everything LGBT is now at the forefront of everything. No one gave a shit about the gender or sexual orientation of video game characters 10 years ago.
Hate to break it to it, but being gay is normal just as being straight. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it morally.

The gender issue is another topic entirely and one that I don’t care enough about to even comment on.

These threads always remind me the collective age of this forum is like 49...but idc what her sexual preference is long as the story is good. The last trilogy was really good just missing out on great. I hope they can improve the vision with next gen only tech and continued improvements to the writing.
