Quite possibly the worst lyrics ever

Franz Ferdinand - Michael

This is where I'll be
So heavenly
So come and Dance with me Michael

So Sexy, I'm sexy
so come and dance with me Michael

I'm all that you see, you want to see
came and dance with me Michael

So close now your so close now
come and dance with me
come and dance with me
So come and dance with me

Michael you're the boy with all the leather hips
Stucky hair, sticky hips stubble on my sticky lips
Michael your the only one I ever want only one I ever want only one I ever want
Beautiful boys on a beautiful dance floor
Michael your dancing like a beautiful dance-whore
Michael waiting on a Silver platter now
and nothing matters now

This is what I am I am a man so come and dance with me Michael

So strong now it's strong now
so come and dance with me Michael

I'm all that you'll be you'll ever see
So come and dance with me Michael

So close now You're close now
Come and dance with me come and dance with me So come and dance with me!

Michael you're the boy with the leather hips sticky hair sticky lips stubble on my sticky hips
Beautiful boys on a beautiful dance floor Michael you're dancing like a beautiful dance whore
Michael waiting on a silver platter now
and nothing matters now!
nothing matters now nothing matters now and nothing matters now

Michael you're the boy with the leather hips sticky hair sticky lips stubble on my sticky lips Beautiful boys on a beautiful dance floor
Michael you're dancing like a beautiful dance whore
Michael waiting on a silver platter now...
and nothing matters now!

Pfffft Michael is great, especially when you're out in a bar or something and it comes on.

yep, thats the first tune that sorta sticks with you. then "reggie", "like a lady" and the other tracks slowly catch on.

ok as for the killers, "somebody told me" is obviously not meant to be taken seriously! come on! i thought it was a take on that early 90's blur hit "girls and boys" (which i like a lot as well). i think "jenny was a friend of mine" has good lyrics, it tells a story, kinda reminds me of that noir novel, "they shoot horses, dont they?" and also "the stranger"...because, "there's no motive for this crime". existentialism! :p

anyway, i think you guys are taking innovation too seriously, in that case we should just listen to the talking heads all day (they rock), i think the rapture has a pretty unique sound among these new bands, if that turns you on. but then, they are pretty much disco.
also i know you guys dont listen to a lot of mainstream rock but back in the days i thought collective soul had a very unique sound, i liked them a lot. of course they pretty much vanished off the face of the earth since then.
A TAKE ON BLUR'S BLISSFULLY CHEESY HIT? No fucking way. Girls and Boys is an awesome song.

That song The Killers have got on the radio is extremely forgettable. I sometimes wonder what sends people's attention to certain songs.

The Killers are musical confectionary. Hot Fuss is definitely all about hitting play and not thinking about the music all that much. I have no idea how somebody could mistake them for being innovative. This style has been the predominant song and dance for at least the past 3 years. . .and it hasn't been near original or innovative for at least 20 years.

I agree with you 100%, The Killers provide nothing new to the pop music landscape. It is extremely produced "tune-in, turn-off, rock out" music, but I'm loving it.

alright alright...jesus. did i say girls and boys isnt an awesome song?
you gotta understand though...i dont watch tv (at all) or listen to the radio (even less than at all). so im not really at all in sync with whats going on with the pop culture/entertainment area aside from foreign flicks and major motion pictures and literature.
hell sometimes i get weirded out by turning on the radio because i dont recognize anything that they play.
on that note, if z100 and mtv (oh wait mtv doesnt play music since 1997...) has been rotating "somebody told me" about 100 times a day, i can understand it becoming sickening.
for me it was a breath of fresh air amongst the puddle of mud and whatever other stuff the kiddies are listening to nowadays.

The Rapture sound exactly like Gang of Four.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Well, except for a certain music site naming it album of the year. Yes, a certain site. The same one that gave the equally ultra-derivative Interpol album of the year in the previous year.

And fuck the haters, "Heaven" (by The Rapture) is a cool song.

Yeah, I like both The Rapture and Gang of Four. Someone had just posted something previously how they thought The Rapture was innovative.

I would totally be wearing a white robe and worshipping esoteric demons if Devendra Banhart started a cult. Just LOOK at him.

The more and more I listen to this album the harder it rocks.

I just can't look it's killing me
and taking control
jealousy, turning saints into the sea
swimming through sick lullabies
choking on your alibis
but its just the price I pay
destiny is calling me
open up my eager eyes
cause I'm Mr. Brightside

So I listened to more Interpol, and yeah I gotta say I really don't like them. My main issue is with their lead singer, he hits everything flat and with an awkward vibrato. It makes me wonder if he really sucks or if he has some sort of degenerative nerve disorder that gives him a weak voice, either way he sounds like a singing zombie. Then the rhythms are equally flat and crappy, seems to just be constant downstrokes on their guitars in every song.

Overall they are just very musically blah. I mean it's not like I require a really produced sound (I like MBV's Loveless) but I need something to at least feel right, and Interpol just feels stunted and flat. Even older stuff from Modest Mouse, as whacky as it is, has a nice motion to it that trancscents it's unconventional means (a means which just ends up giving it character), but I don't know how anyone could enjoy Interpol, let alone start comparing them to The Killers. They are totally different.

Does. . .not. . .compute. You do know how long that album took to record and why? It's the epitome of really produced. The mountains of distortion don't mean it's unproduced.

I never really thought Interpol was anything to go crazy over, but I definitely liked them a lot for a period. They haven't done much for me in a while, but I'm sure listening to Turn on the Bright Lights wouldn't affect me too horribly should I choose to ever try it again.

I never understood the hype -- but I typically never understand any hype. The bands I love seem to be overlooked year after year, while the ho-hum guys get all the fame.

Someone though, please tell me where the comparisons between Interpol and British Sea Power come from. Not only does BSP not sound a thing like Interpol, they totally kick Interpol's ass.

Since we're recommending some bands, anyone interested in Franz Ferdinand should check out Bloc Party. They've got six songs which are "available", these being:-

"Banquet"
"Little Thoughts"
"Staying Fat"
"The Answer"
"The Marshalls Are Dead"
"She's Hearing Voices"

I recommend them and they are a better band than Franz Ferdinand in my opinion.

Albums being released pretty soon as well. :)

More people need to listen to British Sea Power. That's good stuff. The Decline of British Sea Power was overlooked far too often.

i remember downloading The Decline of... and then REALLY wanting to buy it, so i deleted it off my computer

a month later I downloaded it again and just didn't enjoy it anymore. it was really weird.

"Carrion" is such a great song. I think I could listen to it daily.

But if that were the case, I would listen to it daily. Why do people say such banal things?
