Well, I don't see it as her being on the verge of tears or anything like that. To me it looks like she's utterly intrigued and fascinated by her magical powers. She's having a personal moment as she gets dressed which would be one of the prime times for her to do anything like this as she's confidant she's alone. But then she remembers what she has to do, how she has to hide this and has her "welp, time to get the day started" moment, puts herself together and goes out into the open to lead her people.
I don't think any of the shorts were made to go "beyond" what the character's story is. They're studies in the character's psyche that can't be shown very clearly in the game more than anything. The closest to telling a story beyond anything would be MF I'd assume. Zed's was just "I fight real good ..." and Darius was just a look into his philosophy on fear and the nature of things and MF's was mainly looking into her personality in a world were she's not a sexy Halloween joke.
As for Glean, you may not know the name but you know his work. He invented the Disney Princess art style. But that's neither here nor there so w/e
I personally loved it. Just edges out MF's IMO.

like i said, i think it's fine for her to have like an emotional struggle but not at the expense of the payoff of that struggle which is the bright, cheerful personality that's the signature, recognizable trait of her character
in the 3 stories involving lux and this video she hasn't smiled or said anything positive once

i think i personally hated the mf one cos i hate the whole "this woman is strong cos she fought off her rapist" style thing. it's the same thing with the new tomb raider game, i think it's meant to say "look how strong she is" but all it does is put a weird sex price to her strength that male characters wouldn't have to pay. it's also lame cos it has like 3 seconds screen time and it's never gonna be explored so it's just pretty fucking pointless
the short stories paint such a better and more compelling picture of mf, of her planning and enacting her revenge in spectacular fashion, of her commanding a crew of mercenaries (or some such) with authority and their respect and loyalty to her, she's such a fucking badass in those stories but of course here she has to get groped to just barely get a shot off and break free
it's trying to tell a point in mf's story where she hadn't reached full badass status and the sacrifices she made along the way to get there but i would enjoy it better if it didn't always have to come with an unnecessary sexual element
if anything it's just creepy

I really love the idea of this. Having another opportunity for major regions to face each other is already really cool, but the framing of it being around rivals is awesome. And increased pressure to perform internationally seems like it'd really help teams improve.
Adds a little more prestige to getting inside those first four places of a regional split too. Generally just super exciting.
