Leaked Trailer for The Batman

The new art is awesome but the red colouring is very Daredevil like.
Black and grey seems more Batman to me but I think it looks awesome either way.

New promo art. I really like that font they are using.

So what's the deal with this next Fandome? Are there more trailers to be released or is it a smaller scale presentation this time?

Didn’t see this discussed here yet, but the film is reportedly going to be a “graphic, horror film” - if test audiences are to be believed (and a growing number of reports).

Thoughts?
I’m ok with this, but I for one hope they don’t abandoned PG-13 Batman films either. Children love the Bat, and we are seeing a serious push into R rated cape films. This will be a cool foray, I just hope there is going to still be content for younger viewers in the future as well. I know that isn’t always a popular take, but Batman symbolically represents something kids today need IMO.

The movie looks extremely edgy in a very cheesy way, but I am still interested.
At least it's something different ( as far as superhero movies go ).

Softest looking Batman I have ever seen.

this seems like terrible casting.

Cedric Diggery is dead.

Congrats. This is a dumb post.

Pattinson has proved over and over again that he’s a fantastic actor, and Reeves is a very talented director. Their previous projects speak for themselves.

Were you a big fan of Snyder’s fat murdering idiot? I bet you were 😂

Ben Aflac dad bod Batman. I was not. The Snyder movies are not that good. I was a fan of Nolan’s, “swear to me”.

Patterson is a great actor, he doesn’t look good as Batman.

didn’t know I woke up the Patterson fan club. 😀

this is exactly the direction id go if i were making a batman movie

this info has been out for a couple weeks already

very pleased

I can't wait to see Paul Dano's Riddler performance, and hope he gets an oscar win. That would be 2 villian characters from batman that have won oscars!

Any of those good villains would be great.
Actually they really need to lean into more 'comic-booky' fun of the 60's comics and have outrageous villains rather than the dark, gritty, dour...same crap over and over and over again.

Lee Pace would be a great Batman

Not at this point in Batman's career. This isn't supposed to be an older Batman. It's not Year One but it's more like Year Two where his parents are already dead but he's still not the invincible Batman people expect.

they miscast Batman terribly. he would be a good Robin maybe

what is with the emo eye shadow?

Reeves is going for an ultra grounded ‘realistic’ take on the character. And he’d wear that eye shadow under the cowl because it lets him blend into the darkness more. Look at how makeshift and basic the batsuit is. Same philosophy.

Also, some of you philistines need to stop watching so much Marvel, and start watching some A24. Pattinson is a fantastic actor.

Yes, because grounded and realistic has been such a failure recently for the Batman franchise…

people loved it as an alternative to the endless cgi ridden superhero bullshit.

Oh, I hate that brain dead crap as well.

And as they prove, commercial success is no marker of quality...The Joker was a 'critics' film. Anytime 'critics' praise a film like this, it's only because they think they're being smarter than the plebs who flock to the MCU films.

..it was boring, pretentious, art house crap.

Ok, well, have fun not liking stuff, I guess?

I love the Joker movie. It was a fresh take on a character I love. It wasn’t afraid to try something new with the character and captured a completely different tone than other comic adaptions.

It’s one of those movies, where even if you didn’t like it, the success it has garnered will probably open doors for a movie to be made that you do like. It’s success is a win-win.

I love the tone they are going for with this new Batman. To be derivative, it has some of that “The Crow” atmosphere, which is potent and effective. It looks to be grounded like Nolan, yet stylized a bit differently, leaning more into the gothic side.

If they were to go “lighter” with the Batman movies, I’d love to see them adapt Morrison’s Batman… which can actually be pretty dark, but has a quirkiness to it, which would also feel completely fresh in a Batman movie.
I’m not saying it would be the easiest thing to adapt. And adapting it 1 for 1, is a pretty dull idea, but I’d love to see some of those elements incorporated into the movies one day.

i actually kinda agree

i dont think todd phillips had a complete grip on the story he wanted to tell

i think if the story were more straight up leading to the talk show it would have much more punch

the whole talkshow sequence was A+

i wish the rest of the movie was as compelling without being so mopey

i dream of a joker film created by darren aronofsky

lol what? Were you under a rock when the initial Joker reviews came out?

Critics were hating on it with wild abandon, claiming it was inciting violence from white supremacists, toxic masculinity and incels. All the buzzwords.
Audiences for the most part loved it, and critics were panning it. It was by no means a "critics" film.

I'm just saying that DC and Warner needs to lean a bit more into what made these characters popular. Comics were fun and campy. The Joker, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and JLA were all a slog and dour. Only Suicide Squad was a bit more like the comics.

What comics do you read exactly? Because Batman hasn’t been camp for decades.

It’s not about tone. It’s about quality. The Dark Knight is one of the greatest movies ever made, Batman V Superman is a fucking turd. Both ‘dark’.

You are right but it would be nice to have a 'fun' Batman movie ...and Superman.

This already looks 1000x better than that Dark Night trash.
“Dark Knight trash” what the fuck ever.

The movie is not trash. What the hell is wrong with people? Either it’s winning picture of the year or it’s trash. Look I can’t stand the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies but I wouldn’t even say those are trash except maybe the 4th one.

if that movie is trash then what the fuck are straight to DVD Steven Segal movies to you?

Yes to everything you said, except "art house" - this is just a rip-off of Taxi Driver made over 40 years later without adding anything new and even taking place at the same time period.

Crazy. The two films I'm actually excited to see in the theater (and I ain't been out to the theater in quite a long time) are the two films that seem to be getting shat upon the most -- this one and the new Ghostbusters. They both look like good entertainment I'm very much looking forward to.

Joker had the most fascinating gauntlet to get through up until release.
You had both sides of the media claiming it was dangerous before anyone even knew what the movie was about.

Essentially the movie was little Anakin Skywalker - a powerful young lad who was too powerful/dangerous to fall into the others hands. I remember both sides of the fence calling the film dangerous for practically opposite reasons. People were scared of the power and influence the film was going to have, potentially against their “side”, before even knowing what it stood for. So you had people trying to dismantle it from every angle up until release. Then it sort of settled into having the “incel” reputation… for the most part.

weird shit. Fuck critics.
