Yes. Yes. No.

Add me to the pot. I'll change my avatar to whatever you like azula.

...oh god what have I just done.

Wow, another person betting 3 times. And this is some serious stuff, you NEVER change your Avatar (unlike me who is bipolar and changes it constantly).

I mean, if you love Book 2...that's awesome. I don't want to make you feel bad for liking it. You have to understand, I was pretty shocked myself that I hated it so much. I really liked Book 1, despite knowing a lot of people that hated it (oh boy, it was a massacre after Book 1's shitty ending). BUT, because I really liked Book 1 for what it was (and what the series was going for), I was super optimistic going into Book 2. But I just found every single episode as it came out, to be so disappointing and bad (for the reasons I stated in my earlier post).

It was a really strange feeling for me, just because I'm pretty passionate about Avatar, and thus a lot more forgiving then some. Anyways, for me Book 2 is strange. Because on the surface level, it should be great. While I personally didn't dislike Republic City, it got kind of repetitive (in that, they didn't do a good job exploring the different areas of the city). So moving the show back to the Water tribe, and getting things back to being outside was great (so the overall setting/swap was a big improvement). The Harmonic Convergence plot tied in with the Origin of the Avatar was...amazing. Again, on the surface..I would say it might even be the best plot the show has ever come up with (including ATLA).

So Book 2 on the surface IS great. But for me, it just fails on each episode level, and how it executes plot. It's such a drop in writing quality, that I can only theorize that it was a result of the production being hell (the creators said in an interview that Book 2 production was the worst time of their life. That it was hell. Whereas they said Book 3 was a great time, and that everyone felt very good about making it.) I don't know what happened, but I know Book 2 they brought back ATLA writers (whereas Book 1 was written completely by the creators). Maybe it was hard transitioning back to a team of writers (and also not having enough time to get things in order).

Yes, slowly we are getting more and more tidbits about what Book 2 LOK production was like, and it seems that there were many "bumps", as Bryan put it. And you can tell that a lot of those problems weren't present in Book 3 and 4, which were apparently done at the same time, so I have high hopes to how the series will wrap up by the end of Book 4.

Main reason I don't like avatar bets is because there's nothing to gain from them, only something to lose. Seems silly unless there is something in the winning side to counterbalance the losing side.

Still, I'll get in this, I suppose.

I will wear a Korra avatar for a month if the finale manages to not have a deus ex machina.

In my case, the DEM is defined as Korra's victory being significantly contributed to by some random new power (either emphasized (like Jesus Jinora's Divine Intervention) or not (like Korra hulking out of her chains when the avatar state never suggested super strength before)) or knowledge (like Jinora randomly knowing what mercury is) to whichever character. The mechanics of how Korra wins have to be established beforehand atleast 2 episodes before the climactic battle. Also, while not necessarily required, I would prefer that even if the powers are established, I'd rather they are utilized in a believable way. We established that Suyin can metalbend and that mercury is metal, for instance, but seperating it from Korra on a molecular level seems like it'd be pretty impossible no matter how skilled a metal bender you are. But I can't predict what they'll do on that level of specificity and how believable something is is subjective, so I'm not making it a requirement.

Wow, that's a lot of parenthesis.

I'm surprised Book 1 is so low on everybody's lists.

The Book 1 finale will always have a special place in my heart for its excellent use of color.

I almost didn't click on this thread because I was sure the next season would be next year. Now I am so glad I did. October 3rd? Now I'll have something to watch while I download Smash onto my 3DS.

I'll make a bet. I bet that AT LEAST one of the things below will happen by the end of the series.

1. There will be no need for an avatar at all. This will be fulfilled by a character saying "we have achieved peace, the avatar isn't needed anymore" or something like it.

2. Korra will lose her avatar abilities permanently. No, "Oh, just kidding!" shit.

If at least one of these things happen, I win. If neither of them happen, Azula can pick my avatar for a month.

Avatar bets for Avatar's last season, I like it.

The series will not end with Makkorra. Opal isn't evil (when did this theory happen?). DEM is too subjective of a question for me to get in on though. Like Season 2, sure no disagreement there, but I could foresee an ending that people can have differing opinions on.

Changed until end of February, forgot to compensate for how long it takes to air. I guess three months would be the equivalent of what I said? I guess it depends on how many double episodes they do.

Oh damn, shit getting serious. Let me update the list.

Anyone else want to join in on a silly bet. :P Can be anything (any prediction lol).

I've been rewatching Book 1 since I just realized that Nick uploaded all 3 books. So now that we're approaching the final season what are everyone's favorite episodes/scenes of Korra so far:

1. Book 1- Episode 10 Changing Tides

That scene at the end with Lin is still the best for me! There was also a good mix of action as well as comedy.

2. Book 2- Beginnings

It's more the journey of it all that is pretty awesome.

3. Book 3- Stakeout

This episode just had a great mix of fun and seriousness going on. It was the first time in a long time that they actually all felt like a group.

4. Book 3- Enter the Void/ Venom of the Red Lotus
Was probably the best finale since S2.

WTF is this shit? 10 day wait?
zAcsYk1.jpg

I demand leaked press episodes.
Lemme know when the press leaks the first 2 episodes
wink.gif

BTW if anyone is still catching up from the utter garbage that was Book 2, Book 3 is starting off really strong. Decently watchable/plausible story.

It would not shock me at all if some episodes were to get leaked in someway next week as its pretty much a tradition for the show at this point.
There's also Amazon who will most likely if Book 3 was any indication be putting episodes out about 10-12 hours early.
I just want a Trailer for Book 4 please Nick.
Is this shit permanent? Like will the new avatars after Korra (if there actually are any, after that bet I just made) be able to connect with Aang and co.?

I DON'T LIKE THIS.

She's still got her avatar state which is at least something I suppose.

Yeah....

I didn't like the way they handled this moment either. I guess the argument is, she never could connect them to anyways. And something something about Korra being her own Avatar (having to stand by her own judgment).

But it's pretty shitty to just destroy the entire build up of all the past Avatar lives. It's a pretty massive moment in a mythology sense, and it didn't really feel earned to me. Felt more like, they were trying to tack on as much as they could to make the fight more tragic for Korra.

I will say, while it's technically permanent (at least up to Book 3)...I would be shocked if they don't have her re-connect by the end of the series. I expect it to happen in Book 4.

Air: And The Winner Is...

Spirits (Beginnings excluded): Light In The Darkness or A New Spiritual Age

Change: Enter the Void/Venom of the Red Lotus
