I did some further correcting on a few screens, sorry for the weird crop.

Port: Same game on another platform. Can have fixes or some minor things added. But usually it's the same as the source.

Enhanced Port: Same game on another plaform, but with added content, retooled graphics (not too significant) and other fixes and additions.
Example: Link's Awakening DX.

Remake: When the game is remade from scratch. Everythings gets remade and redrawn: graphics, music, sprites, textures, etc.
Example: Resident Evil for the Gamecube.

Re-imagining: This one is rarely used, but it is when you take a source game and remake it, but at the same time so many changes are made to it that it becomes its own stand alone game with minor ties to the original game.
Example: Silent Hill Shattered Memories (reimagining of Silent Hill 1)

Remaster: Pretty much a mixture of port and enhanced port. It is when you take the source game and "clean up" the graphics by using higher quality textures, yet maintaining the same polygon count. Basically, it's applying a new coat of paint over the old one. Usually has fixes or minor changes here and there. It has been used a lot lately for HD versions of older 3D games.

Thanks!

To be fair, they aren't nice doggies. You also beat up hippies, salary men, and living stop signs.

Dawn Rivers just tweeted this comparison between Link's new tunic design and Nausicaa's dress:

So cool.

Holy cow, yeah! I am loving this new Ghibli style anime graphics going on.

I'm excited for the new Wii U Zelda, but a part of me (and I know this will be an unpopular opinion) was hoping to see a top-down Zelda. Like how the Mario 3D Land engine was used for Mario 3D World, I would have loved to see the LBW style brought up to HD standards.

I know this is a bit outside the realm of this thread, but does anyone think we will see a LBW sequel (on 3DS or otherwise)? Seems a shame to have built the engine and assets and not use them again. I would have much preferred a sequel rather than the Majora's Mask port that is on deck. But maybe it is still to come.

Alternatively, I think it would be awesome if they made a downloadable remake of the original Zelda using the LBW engine. I love the original Zelda, but the controls are a bit rough. Updating it to have the smooth controls of LBW would be amazing!

Doubt it. ALBW is already the sequel. Miyamoto wanted to do a ALttP remake, but they ended up doing a new game. Sort of like how Capcom wanted to make a LoZ remake and ended doing a new game (the Oracle series).

I really hope the 2D style isn't a one time thing. I agree with the common complaint that the dungeons were a little too simple due to the rental mechanic, but the game was still really great thanks to the snappy combat and pacing. That said, there was no way the first HD Zelda wasn't going to be a huge, beautiful world like they're doing.

And there have been exactly 0 Zelda games with horse riding since then. So... :P
Twilight Princess, technically.

I'll be seriously shocked if Nintendo doesn't produce another 2D Zelda using ALBW's tools. It's cheaper and easier to develop than a 3D title. I'd like them to create new assets and a new aesthetic, though.

Question:

You think this game will have save points or menu saves?

I feel like after Twilight Princess's game breaking glitch, they've gone with save points only. And I hate save points. :|

Don't you mean Skyward Sword's game breaking glitch? The one with the dedicated patch channel?

I have a feeling Link will be able to make camp and thus save anywhere in the environment.

Twilight Princess had one game-breaking save glitch and two more game-breaking save problems (I wouldn't call them "glitches," exactly, but they broke the game all the same).

I doubt that they will never go back to a free save system after ONE bug in a game 8 years ago.

As big as the world seems to get and the comments from Aonuma and Miyamoto about playing the game in small sessions, I think you can save wherever and whenever you want.

Back-in-time?

TP had a channel update for a game breaking save glitch involving saving & quiting at the wrong place (in a cave in Kakariko Village and then won't let you teleport something to progress further iirc);
SS had one bug involving talking to Gorons in a particular order for the same game breaking result, even if there was little chance to proceede this way. To me knowledege Nintendo only released a tips on their website but no proper fix.

Anyway, GC/Wii hadn't a way to properly patch games.
But I don't believe saving anywhere will be possible, they will probably stick with particular respawn spots and a way to teleport, as usual.

No, they were:

1. Saving in the underground room you get the cannon from to reach City in the Sky with causes Rusl to become invisible and intangible, so you can't ask him to leave, meaning Midna can teleport the cannon. Can't progress.

2. Saving after the Eldin Bridge is destroyed but before entering the Lanayru Province Twilight Realm causes Link to spawn upon reload next to the Kakariko exit, but the bridge will still be destroyed, meaning there's no way across. Can't progress.

3. Entering a specific room in City in the Sky and leaving causes the boss to destroy a bridge and cut off access to that room. He still does this even if you left without getting the required key in there. Can't progress.

I wouldn't technically call #2 and #3 "glitches," (more like the game is working properly but the developers didn't consider the ramifications of their spawn points and event triggers), but any of these will break Twilight Princess and force you to start over from scratch.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm really just hoping for auto save. No need to manually save. That kind of thing just takes consequences away, a la Skyrim.

Luckily, they don't have to worry about glitches like that as much because they can always be fixed now.

Nah, I'd rather have both consoles do different things. 3D World felt too familiar/homogenized imo

Nope you got TP and SS mixed up. SS got the channel download from the Wii Shop.

have you heard of photoshop? :D

I pulled the images from the japanese version of the video which was the highest quality...and paused the video at times when there was the least amount of blur possible....then I used the selective color tool to bring out the correct colors within the screen...the levels have also been slightly adjusted.

I think this might be what ALBW was to ALttP. Alternative take on the same world or something like a reboot, simply called TLoZ.

Except it doesn't work like that. At all. In ALBW it was literally the exact same world geographically. Here you have a gigantic three dimensional space versus, what, the flat and limited 8-bit map from TLoZ? Don't overthink this or apply logic from other devs.

They could still base it roughly on the same world map, with similar landmark positions, etc. Obviously I didn't mean a direct translation from the original one^^ More like a reimagination.
We'll see.

And remember how the original Zelda-world was just a small part of the world in Zelda 2? Imagine if that is the world they are going for - that is my dream if they are up for some reimagining!

I see what you mean

The image posted before, gave me that sort of idea.

Not an exact replica of the TLoZ's map but ideas taken from the concept art etc.

Yea we've been over this, like, 100 pages ago. Extensively. :D

Yeah, I thought so, to be honest :D
I'm not that active here even though I'm a huge Zelda fan. Somehow I wasn't excited as much about the footage as I expected I would be. FFXV has my full attention and hype, right now^^

Skimming through the first 50 pages or so you will find LOOOOTS of map analyses, etc. All that good stuff.

So I had a random thought, but on the idea of optional motion controls akin to SS, could Nintendo not just have the same scripting for enemies regardless of which control method you're using? Like say, for example you're playing with the gamepad, and Links regular attacks are the same as say TP, where there's two horizontal slashes followed by a vertical slash, could the enemies still not just have the same blocking AI that they do in SS regardless of whether or not you're using the TP controls or the SS controls? All you as the player would have to do is pay attention to which direction the enemy is blocking, and wait akin to SS, and there's even reason to suggest that the enemies can actually block in this, as in the gameplay demo, one of the enemies actually uses an animation that looks like it is blocking its front, as if to block from a forward stab (^+B in TP controls), and the existence of optional motion controls would not only be heavily precedented considering how many recent Wii U games use a ton of control options, and it explains right hand Link. Lol, sorry if this has been brought up before, just had a random thought.
