Sure there wasn't an exciting trailer put together, and the over world seems early in terms of barren with enemies.

However, confirming that it's a GamePad / Pro Controller game was quite substantial. The art style is also gorgeous.

This has to be intentional. Those glorious bastards

It is early footage, and aren't details and such added much later into development?

Yep. Details such as foliage and visuals are often added at the end. Can even be added during bug testing phases (esp things like small plants that won't cause collision problems)

People complaining about visual details should realize this.

They likely are implementing the dungeons and towns first (to iron out bugs) and then near the end will do a huge pass detailing the overworld. Populating it with enemies and decorations.

Cool Facts: Game of War has been a hit since July 2013
I figured out that the most zoomed out map that they showed in the video shows about 23 square miles of the game world. Should I make a thread explaining how I got that, or should I just post it here?

I really hope they reach that quality in the end product. Shown footage from today looks much less detailed, but impossible to really tell from off-screen.

That region probably already looks like that and was focused on early in development to show off the game at E3.

That's how it works, normally.

Maybe this Link is a wanderer and doesnt live in a town? Or maybe hes from a small village without any real borders and stuff.
Well maybe, I mean there might be a plot reason for it. I mean there is a rumor from September that sorta called the slowdown thing, that mentions that both Link and Zelda were exiled but I think that's just more of a coincidence.
Since when has Hyrule had a beach? If anything, this is Termina or Koholint
Well to be fair, we've never seen what was to the east of Death Mountain in a 3D Zelda, and in a few games, namely Zelda 1 and 2 there are beaches. Plus the largest lake on the map matches the shape of Lake Hylia from TP, and it's placement, along with the volcano from E3 and the castle like thing to the west of it are traditional Hyrule things.

Out of everything posted on GAF every day, you're calling THAT out? Yes, I think it's funny how defensive some Nintendo fans are to any criticism.

...this is exactly what he is talking about bro.

One of your comments was "Oh I wish I could have this child like enthusiasm over games again..."

that is some passive aggressive condescending shit son. It gives off this weird air of superiority..unintended I am sure.

You mean fanboys in general? Because trust me, in all my years on the internet that ultra defensive type of behavior doesn't just come from Nintendo fanboys. I mean just look at the thread for the latest The Order gameplay for some examples.

Based on the map layout....

I think this is secretly a remake of the original Legend of Zelda
That... is a really good point. Maybe that's why we didn't get a title, because it's just going to be "The Legend of Zelda".

This probably isn't the case but that would be so cool.

looks so good except for those motion controls (which look fucking terrible)... hopefully thats completely optional and we can just use the gamepad joysticks.

Not worried it doesn't look very populated. The game looks really far along and they can still address that. Either way, I'm excited it's not a hub world. I'm imagining LttP but in 3D and that is very exciting.

Given how large the actual area is, even though the ocean seems small its actually fairly large if it took epona around 10 minutes to travel that small distance. I wonder if there will be some under water secrets or maybe secret islands but that might just be me dreaming. I hope the combat does become more action packed at least for bosses where its not really easy but still takes a bit of skill too. The new jump addition doesn't seem to add much unless ur new to gaming.

Notice how Link is right-handed even though there's no motion control for the sword?

Maybe there's multiple control themes. Plus there's also this which while from ZI, managed to nail the slowdown thing (kinda a safe bet), along with maybe the green bar by the hearts. Plus the rumor states that they're experimenting with co-op, via a wii remote with the second person being Zelda, and considering it's Nintendo, you'd most likely be able to switch who's using which controller.

Hopefully they can just keep the name as "the legend of zelda", no subtitle.

If the game turns out to be great... this could possibly be the best remake of all time. Definitely the biggest.

I find it amazing that after all these years these guys still don't speak English.

Also the dubbing was hilariously bad.

Buuuuut, looks good. I have not played a Zelda since Ocarina and Majora so maybe I will get a Wii console finally.

The game likely needs to be done in about 10 months. Can we stop calling this "early" footage?

After how Super Mario 3D World was received at E3 2013, then had a huge opinion turnaround in October of the same year, I don't think people are quite aware of what Nintendo's capable of, or they're just underrating them for the sake of "underration", if I can put it in such context (or if such a term exist).

Relax. It may not be "early" footage, but it is still early to think that any of what was shown was any bit final.

I made some images based on a few people's reactions to the gameplay footage.

If those were in a video game they would be bland and sparse. How pretty/realistic something looks doesn't mean jack if all you're doing is holding up on the control stick, or in this case, letting the game play itself.
