Legend of Zelda Wii U Gameplay Demo

Have long been waiting for another Zelda game with a big huge empty overworld that bores the fuck out of me.

Skyward Sword did a lot of stuff wrong including the controls and the backtracking. The streamlined overworld was a good thing though.

What part of it wasn't real? It was an in-engine trailer. Even the horse vaulting thing at the end that SO MANY people said wasn't possible, despite Aonuma saying it was, ACTUALLY IS POSSIBLE

The point wasn't that the E3 footage wasn't real, but that the new one looks worse than that. And speaking of Aonuma talk, didn't he say that the game looks much better now, just recently? It really doesn't.

What's with all this "empty world" BS?
Why would they reveal all of the new enemies, stuff to do, etc in the middle of development?

Should've just made one of those typical "gameplay" trailers and called it a day,
people will always find something to harp on.

Yup. I don't even have a Wii U anymore but the fact that the sail cloth is in it then that probably means other more modern systems such as crafting are in it also. Miyamoto even said that there were apples on the trees last time he saw it. I have a feeling that the world will have a lot more life as well as collectibles in the finished product. Also the shield kinda points to more crafting considering it wasn't the more traditional shield.

It looks awesome. I trust that it will not just be a huge open plain. Especially because you can see all the changes as they skip around.

People just like to hate or just don't like open worlds period.

Play wind waker people. Lots of open space.

By the way when they say that the horse will dodge trees automatically it makes me think it will be similar to sailing in ease of traversal. I'm confident they will make it interesting to play during those times too.

Imagine all the little secrets they could hide around with so much space to play with.

Still looks okay, but this certainly is a downgrade for now. They better get their shit together.

What downgrade? The only issue I see is that the demo is off screen and angled (nice gif despite that), taking away a lot of detail.

Since when did off screen footage ever look better then direct feed footage of the same game.

the world in Skyward Sword was small, linear, annoying to traverse, offered little in the way of exploration and on top of that they still managed to make it boring

There been crafting in zelda for awhile now, so it would be shocking if zedla U didnt have it

Edge of sigh reduced.
No more flowers and butterflyes all around.
Empty world.

This is the downgrade I expected from the last E3 so I'm not disappointed.
What I don't like is that "aiming/moving the cam" moving that stupid pad.

Oh please let me fish anywhere there's water in this game!!

Let me fish from horseback and this will be the best zelda game ever!

Right? Some people in this thread act like the game is coming out tomorrow and not still in development lol.

The nitpicking at GAF is ridiculous sometimes.

Still in development for an entire year most likely considering they'll probably release this for the holiday season.

It does not look worse in any way. It's actually looking grander. The fact that it's off screen vs direct footage is the only thing worse in the demo.

Also, not sure if anyone noticed, but there are jump skips throughout the showing. We don't see a lot of the traveling they do (we don't even see Link land or get to the way point they made). For all we know they went through several towns, past wondering travels, enemies, monsters and dungeons/mini-dungeons. For crying out loud guys, he jumps off a cliff and ends up on a cliff that looks nothing like the one he just jumped off.

Rewatched the trailer again and I must reiterate how Nintendo really nailed good lighting in their Wii U games: it makes up for the lack in specs spectacularly. Their art design is also top notch and helps bridging the technological gap.

The new demo didn't do much for me.

I was expecting something more lively and bright but this looked really barren and dark.

I'm sure the final game will be great but I didn't like this footage. It lacked that Zelda like wonder the series has.

Dark? What are you talking about? lol

Don't forget the different times of day shown in the game. It doesn't stay sunset.

Well, it's kinda sunset time...

I know this is nitpicking and probably reading too much into it, but considering the changes made in this Zelda entry the phrase "So we must be looking to the west" seems more significant than just a statement about bearings.

Probably just weird translation or Miyamoto rambling, though.

That grass...

The world seemed a little empty to me but this is of course a demo and the final game will no doubt feature plenty of enemies when you make your way through the world map.

these days, with the amount of analysis which is given to these videos, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut out a lot of potential story and world related things; enemies, landmarks, NPC's etc

Looked pretty good but god why do they show off-screen stuff instead of proper direct feed high quality footage we can pour over :(

Looks cool. I hope there is no fast travel.
I am honestly bewildered people are saying it looks like a downgrade. How can you even possibly tell? It's off screen footage. It's not even like the camera is close enough to make out much detail.

In any case I still don't believe it's coming 2015.
