But it might as well be, with all the times we've pulled out the master sword and stuff. I think it's about wanting fans to not grow tired of the franchise being too predictable. Sure a lot of the Zelda staples are still in there probably, we've already seen a few, like the fact that there are still dungeons and horseback riding and a grassy overworld akin to the ocean from Wind Waker amongst more, but I think the might as well do something interesting story-wise by not giving us the green tunic at all. Maybe we're not even playing as Link? Okay, that's enough crackpot theory from me today :-S

Right. Aonuma distinctly said he's been doing it wrong. He keeps trying to recapture "magic" by emulating OoT. When in fact OoT was magical because it felt so new. He's trying to capture the feeling people had when they experienced OoT instead of straight up following OoT.

I think this could be good...assuming he understands what made OoT so dang special in the first place.

What if the green tunic is an end-game armor?
I can see it being like the Hylian Shield in SS.

Bonus item. :P

I'm sure it being the first 3D Zelda had something to do with the magic. Hard to recapture that.

OoT made people lose there minds in the possibility of...anything!

They're trying to recapture the feeling of having no clue what you're diving into. Recapturing the feeling of not knowing if there was a secret Unicorn Fountain in Zora's Domain or if there was another way into the Sacred Realm.

It ignited curiosity...and hype. It was a very special time. :P

I see this game doing the same thing. I look at the map and wonder...how many freakin' secrets are they going to hide in this world?

That's the problem. I'm almost certain that Aonuma doesn't know what people liked so much about Oot. If he did I'm sure he would antecipate Wind Waker backslash.

Wind Waker was his baby. He didn't care what people wanted. It also turned into a rush job.

But, yeah...I'm nervous about it, but I think he's attempting to recapture the feeling of actually being on an adventure.

Just making my first post in this thread to say that I've been lurking and reading and generally unable to think about anything else all week.

I know that many other games have been released in the past that have delivered a crazy open world fraught with secrets and adventure and interesting stories, but I mean they've nearly all had a primary combat focus. They're focused on a wide array of weapon/skill options and things boil down to how efficiently you deal with combat situations, and some level of specing your character as good/evil.

This game is going to feel quite different. This seems like a game I've been dreaming about for more than twenty years. After E3 I was almost in some shocked disbelief, but by this point I am full on obsessed.

This will be the most difficult media blackout of my entire life. I <3 you all

On the other hand, this seems to be the first 3D Zelda whose world/traversal design isn't based on or hamstrung by the technical limitations of the console. Although it may be a little early to say that.

Maybe it changes the dialogue. Like Pajamas in TWW or the masks in OoT/MM.

Or, maybe it's the strongest defensive armor. :\

Or it makes Link smell so much that every NPC runs away from him and if they have quests or items he needs he has to run after them and catch them with the whip or trap arrows! :D

What if there are multiple modes of travel? You could have Epona on the ground, and a dragon or something in the sky for super fast traversal. You could ride Epona alongside the dragon and catch onto the dragon Shadow of the Colossus style.

Awwwwwyeah

Was it someone on here who made this?. The green tunic gonna look fresh

This looks awesome. Kinda like a christmas theme suit. All he needs now is a christmas cap.

Was just looking at some Twilight Princess gameplay footage and what immediately jumped out to me is just how much better Epona animates in Zelda U. I mean it should be expected since the game is 8 years old now, but still.

I never really liked how Epona moved in TP. I liked how she moved in Ocarina much better.

Yeah I always felt the same way. Epona seemed to animate better in early Twilight Princess footage than she did in the final game. The new animations seem great though.

Yeah, I'm really happy with how they're handling epona this time around. Looks like she might actually be able to compete with Agro for best horse ever in a video game. Though I doubt we'll be able to do all the tricks you could do in SotC.

Twilight Epona had too much up and down. She ran more like a dog than a horse. At least they didn't reverse the joints in her front legs like those poor horses in Path of Radiance.

Epona in OOT control like dogshit , I mean she is a fucking tank.
Also there going to be a green tunic in this game, That the most iconic thing in the series.

Man,the grass and trees make such a difference in the feel of the overworld.

Also, it's easy to guess why Link's in blue in this one instead of green. In green, he would blend in, which is probably something Nintendo doesn't want.

Looking at this reminds me how long it has been since we had a "gritty" Zelda game. I personally love the more vibrant style the series has used in recent years, though, so it's not a problem for me. But at the same time, there's something I... kinda like about those Twilight Princess pics (bar the terrible horse animation, that is), even more so now than on its release. Maybe I'm going insane.

Me too...but SS's motivation was through rewarding the player through cutscenes...not by rewarding the player with...better or new gameplay.

I dunno, I think the motivations and narrative and everything about SS was off. Left a terrible taste in my mouth.
You just have an extreme imagination that already have pre-made expectations that cant be met.

Never once playing SS did I feel rewarded with cutscenes this aint no smash bros subspace emissary come on now.

Remember in Zelda how you're always walking through miles of and miles of featureless grass plains? Can't wait!

Remember when that other guy repeated the same joke for the millionth time? What a classic! Sarcasm aside, this has already been said and in a more intelligent manner too.

Me too. I didn't think cutscenes were the reward. But then again, I defend this game, so I don't know. I might be a tad biased.

I was actually thinking that if this game takes place not too long after Skyward Sword like some people have mentioned, we might see a return of the Loftwings.

But, I'm gonna try hard to go on a black out too, so I guess I'll find out when the game comes out.

Spirit Tracks Link never wore a green tunic.

Link was told to disguise himself by becoming a castle guard, in order to help Zelda get out of Castle Town. The Castle guards all wore green tunics and hats, in honour of the hero from Wind Waker.
