Lego or no, the level packs for £26.99 for a reported hour of gameplay is insane

But you also get Minifigs and Microscale stuff. As any Lego Thread visitor could tell you, some people would spend way more than that if they'd be exclusive
Seriously though, you're mostly paying for the Lego part, not the game part.
Amazing OT! Just got home with mine, 5.5 GB patch on PS4 yikes.

Edit: What exactly do you guys mean when you mention the "open world" of a respective character, and what's the difference between that and it's "level"?
I really want to play the Portal, Ghostbusters, BTTF and Scooby levels. But it's so expensive.
Holy sweet mother of....how much did that set you back?
Please tell me your dog is named Mogwai
If they don't go rare they could be fun to pick up once in a while for a $30 hit. I don't want to be running around spending hundred on everything at once due to fear they will be sold out.
I really hope it doesn't turn out like Amiibos. I doubt it since they've been making Lego forever, they have the factories to turn them out like hot cakes.
Also,NoA artifically creates demand
Did anyone else's starter pack not show how to build the Batmobile? I has instructions for portal and figures but ummmmm... I'm not seeing for the vehicle.

Think you get the instructions in game. Could be wrong, don't have the game....
Book says instructions are in the game to build. IDK why.Did anyone else's starter pack not show how to build the Batmobile? I has instructions for portal and figures but ummmmm... I'm not seeing for the vehicle.

Watch the video I linked a few posts back. Every franchise has a small open world representing it. You gain access to it with a mini fig from that franchise. This is separate to the story mode and any levels in level packs. There are challenges, races, mini missions and stuff in these small open worlds that try to offer a distilled down 'best of' version of that franchise's world.
The video of Oz gives you a good idea of the scale of one of them. They're a decent size, though far from the size of open worlds we expect to see in any given game these days.
The level in a level pack, is a regular sized Lego game level, with a short story focused on whichever minifig comes with the level pack.

For those that don't want to spend a ton on this stuff, you can just buy the Starter pack, which does allow you to complete the game with everything that comes with it. Yeah, there are open worlds that you may not be able to access, but those other figs can be bought later.
I did splurge a bit and bought close to $280.00 worth of stuff. I bought my stuff at Toys R Us since they were offering a $10.00 gift card for the starter set and when you spend $35 or more on figures you also get a $10.00 gift card, so was able to get $50.00 in gift card when it was all said and done.

This is pretty much like any other Lego games except that now you actually have to purchase each individual Lego action figure. I kinda feel ripped purchasing the Portal playset for $30. Didn't seem to have enough game in it...
OT might be helped by the reminder that the instructions for most building is in the game. Which means unless you know lego it will be a bit before you can do much because the game has to install.
Our Best Buy had so many people returning it(and the level packs) in anger that they started having a special phone greeting. Makes sense when many players would be installing the game while thinking they can put things together beforehand. Just a combo of bad timing for most.
The LEDs are pretty...
Well, the actual portal thing from the starter pack has the instructions. If people are just buying this stuff for the figures and not the game I am sure instructions will find their way online in good time.
Honestly, sitting down here and putting together some Lego is the most soothing thing ever. I get why adults are into it. It's no different than doing a jigsaw puzzle. It's relaxing.
I would rather help people than arbitrarily have data not available and from the looks of both the facebook and twitter and other forums. Its a huge issue. No problem with adding relevant data to an OT.
Indeed, it made the patch go by pretty quick. It's not like there is nothing to do while the game is installing though. The actual portal thing takes some time to build.
Dammit GAF...

Have you finished the playset then? Much replay value?
This isn't amiibo i doubt you will have to worry about any of these sets being scaled. At this point, I'm waiting (and hoping) for a Black Friday markdown. Hope the Doctor Who pack doesn't get scalped to hell.
Watching a live twitch feed and I'm really impressed. It's way less "kids oriented" gameplay than I though.
Considering that their whole design plan is "patch later" (unlike Disney Infinity, they'll patch in support for the next few years of sets instead of selling you a new disc annually), I'm not surprised. They're just starting early, is all.My retail friend did tell me that they had the starter packs for over 3 weeks now, so if you consider manufacturing, packing and shipping, they must of had these starter pack ready almost 2 months ago, so another one of those "ship that fucker as is, we will patch in the rest of the game by launch" scenarios.
