Random Question for Lego GAF:

Does anyone know where I can find the best Deal for old Bionicles? The New announcement has me wanting to increase my old collection as I never really was able to collect them(In my defense, I was under 13 until Bionicle Ended. Kind of Hard to collect when you are 4)

Craigslist?

So i just built the Eiffel Tower, a set which i would never have bought but got gifted the other day... It's actually a neat build, really comes together when you use those elastic arc wires. The end result looks nice, i recommend it for those of you that are into Architecture sets ;)

Pretty cool set yea? I really liked some of the build techniques. Now grab the monkey from Forest adventures and have him climb up holding some french bread.

I think I may have a problem.

A franchise here is doing a Get 3 pay 2 promotion

Which franchise?

Toys XL (Dutch)

They do have a rule that says you can't take 2 of one set in that 3 for 2 promotion... but not everybody was paying attention :)

WOW!

5 Death Stars (or is that 8 of them?)
4 SSDs
4 Red Five X-wings

Hold onto those for a while and you will have quite a profit.

Yeah,

5 Death Stars
4 SSDs
4 X-Wings
A LOTR Tower thing
Syndey Opera
and a Simpsons house

:) I have been, rightfully so, declared nuts by my housemates and friends :)

Thanks. I'm Dutch, but checking ToysXL online it looks like you bought everything ;). Only Opera Houses left, and three of those is too rich for my blood (and it doesn't even work online).

I wanna say this was my actual first one

886_Space_Buggy.jpg

(funnily enough it apparently came out in my year of birth)

but the first actual "big" one I remember vividly was this one

6392_Airport.jpg

I loved everything about it and played with it day and night.

Get 3 pay 2... I want that deal. Two years out of my dark ages and I've yet to see such a deal here in the states.

We used to get much better deals on the big sets, but LEGO put an end to that early last year.

A lot of my collection was formed from the old BOGO and BOGO 50% sales.

Build two normal star destroyers, combine two others into one huge one. Make a fleet. Combine four death stars into one huge awesome sized Death Star.

You know you want to.

This is the oldest set I remember my family having. When I looked it up on brickset, it came out the year my oldest sister was born. I think my dad was excited to have an excuse to buy toys.

These next 2 I remember being "mine" but since they came out the same year I don't know which one I would have gotten first. I was only 5 at the time. And browsing the other years on brickset, I went into my dark ages at around 10 years old. I always thought I was older than that.

Same here, got it when I was about 6 - and I still have it all. Plan to put it together with my son when he is the same age as I was.

My earliest legos were a blend of some small sets in one bin with some generic bricks. There were parts for some underwater things, some castle things, and some snowy things. I don't know which were hand-me-downs and which were sets I was too young to remember getting. I cannot remember a time without that box of toys.

First one I remember getting as a kid was probably some part of those Lego Adventure sets in ancient egypt.

Well, I'm a little tight on cash till next month so I passed on the SpongeBob set, and I'm glad I did because today at work I got this bad boy:

for the cool cool price of $15.

Really stoked too because this is the ONLY LotR set I've ever actually wanted, and I figured that I'd wind up never getting it.

:D

Yes you do! You are missing a whole bunch of other sets that go with those. You need to get all the good original trilogy Star Wars sets before they go out of production. Not sure why you need multiple Best Stars, but that's a nice start.

That's a great deal. When I was Bricklinking Ringwraiths to get to 9, I paid about $10 per minifig.

Do you guys think it's possible to add power functions to the UCS Tumbler? I personally wouldn't have a clue where to start but I'm sure somebody here could do it right?

Oh good lord, there are nine of them? We had 3 of the sets for sale, I seriously considered grabbing two of them for four Ringwraiths, (and for some reason I really want a second carrot) since they are the entire reason I've always wanted this set. I was lucky to snag the single set I got though. Guess I'll just be content with the two, it's not like I'm going for any kind of concistancy with the books/movies anyway. I'll just have them be Wraith Bros.

After telling myself that I was good on the bricklink orders for a bit (not that I was), I put in 5 more orders today that added up to over 100 dollars total. It's a disease I tell you. This Orthanc is going to be epic both in size and cost. At least I found a bunch of brown frogs for pretty cheap, I got 28 of them, they make excellent old fashioned table legs.

I only got 8 of them because the 9th (their leader) is going to be in an upcoming Hobbit set:

But I may end up buying another Ringwraith because the Hobbit minifig looks too different from the others.

Take a Ringwraith body, with cape, stick on the Necromancer head from set 79014, and the sweet crown from the set you have pictured above. Curious as to what that would look like...

Meanwhile, in Sweden, Weathertop is on clerance for $70. :D

LEGO Movie set 70806 is extremely shitty. It has what I would call illegal connections (because they don't work) and is just generally a really boring build. I figure the alternate build is much better but I don't care for Castle so ... I would rate both this and 70162 as the worst sets I have built since my dark ages.

I love Castle and even I didn't buy that set. Maybe if I spotted for around $20 as a parts pack.

Hmmm, it looks pretty good to me. Maybe a bit boring. I just stayed away from all those "two seconds of screen time" sets since they would add up to be quite expensive.

Wait...why 70162? Is it because if the front wheels? Other than that, the set is pretty good IMO.

I managed to pick up all Friends Animals Series 5 sets at Toys R Us. They also had the Bricktober Theater on the shelf for $19.99. I tried to purchase it, but the register refused the sale. It's dated for 10/4.

Cool grats, the store where I got mine earlier this month already sold out of their allotment. Took them just 3 or 4 days. Glad I snagged them... Even if I didn't get a second bear :p I'll be on the lookout when they restock.

The front wheels are incredibad. They look stylish but they don't work at all, the whole car is just sliding on two upside down transparent pieces on the bottom. And the non-working eject seat function makes the thing much more clunky than it has to be for no reason.

I had to pass on an incredibly sweet deal for some castle-themed stuff that included a bunch of castles, viking ships and dragons (green and black)... :( It was $450 but included a lot of discontinued stuff.

Need the money for some new games coming out. MAN! That was a tough choice... but I have to keep in mind that nice deals on LEGO come around quite often.

I tried wiring one of the chandeliers slightly modified from the grand emporiun set and it works awesome. I will definitely be using it in my orthanc
