You're absolutely right

Bernie is much stronger on gay rights and pretty much every issue that is important to me personally so I voted for him and wish for him to become the nominee

but he isn't going to win - Its getting damn near impossible for him to get the nomination -- so it looks like the best we can hope for is Bernie and his supporters to push Clinton further to the left because all the special interests that she is so beholden to will just push her to the right

I'd very much like to know why Clinton has so much support in the gay community though when she is very clearly much weaker on gay rights -- There are other issues of course -- but it seems that there is little depth to her support

I imagine she's a gay icon in the same way a Beyonce or Gaga is? Gay men tend to admire headstrong women who know what they want. We relate to people who defy the binary code, and she's a woman running a boy's club. Also, her endurance and drive are pretty much legendary.

Politicians have to toe the line between reflecting your constituents' opinions and going sovereign with your own principles. Voters are never quite sure which one they prefer. Sadly, most people (in political office or otherwise) were against gay marriage until very recently. People need to evolve. The point is that she did, and after doing so became a major advocate. So did Barack, the Democratic Party, my own parents and likely yours too. And I'm sure we'll need to evolve on some issues years down the road as well. No one's perfect, but if you learn and open yourself up to new waves, then you get my respect.

Anyway, just ma little defense to thinking someone needs to be pro-gay from birth to be considered a real advocate. lol

Oh no, I totally agree about the changing of opinions. But the point is that when asked, she claims she's been fighting or supporting for a while, which isn't true. Just woman up, admit you changed your mind, and spin it positively instead of changing your personal history.

I gave her access to my bank account because she's been making payments on a computer that I sold her and she saw that I made a donation to the Trevor Project cause of the fiasco on the show and she asked me about it

I used it for the first few months on my phone but never used to lock my phone anyway so I just turned it off. Might go back to it.

Question for the topic: Has anyone had any horrid experiences recently from the world at large's response when it came to PDA with a partner of the same sex? Whether that be hand holding all the way to kissing? I'm currently searching for dates with other guys and am pretty affectionate when it comes to dating women. Just don't know if the climate around gay PDA has changed a lot and being a Texan, I'm doubly wary of verbal or physical assaults by bigots.

I did kiss guys in public before. I live in Austria where you still get a looooot of bigots. Being gay is still a scandal here for most and people are hush-hush about it.

My boyfriend that I had for two weeks wanted to hold my hand in public, and I let him. It was so annoying. 🙄Nothing happened to us here in lovely Michigan.

Soulscribe lives in Texas iirc, maybe he'll chime in.

Seattle is reasonably progressive, so we've never had any issues in public - just the opposite, actually. People have occasionally stopped to say we look very happy, are cute together, etc. I always had far more problems with homophobia when I'm by myself, which is funny since I'm one of the most nondescript people around.
