Meh, I went to college in Savannah Georgia, one of the most gay / liberal southern cities (outside of Atlanta and FL, but FL doesn't count). I knew a lot of club twinks that bounced from man to man, but I also have a lot of friends in normal, boring relationships.
What i've really tended to notice is that the more boring (in a good way) 'normal' gay people just aren't in the gay 'scene'. This includes any subcultures. Most of the subcultures are just fetishized hook up clubs anyway.
It's just a retarded situation where outside of personal ads, its hard to meet people. Gay, Straight, Bi, doesn't matter, online ads are probably your best bet you just have to take them with a grain of salt, make sure you e-mail a good bit before you meet and keep your expectations reasonable. Getting to know the person before you jump their bones is of course, also a good idea.
