The trailer was great, but why was EVERYONE except Buzz black xD?

I am normally not one of those people complaining about that, but even in the US they're a tiny minority even smaller in other countries it's a bit unbelievable ( people in the entertainment industry act as if they make up 50% of the population in the US ).
Are they clones?
Might actually be the case but lol.

It especially drew the attention for me when he was being dragged on the ground because it's a line of people and they're all the same so either clones or wtf?

....? 3 of the 5 people on screen during that scene were not black. I think they were just going for a diverse Military look.

So does this movie mean that the toys were created with the implanted memories of a real person? Spooky if true.

So Buzz is a toy based on a real space traveling hero? That really doesn't work for me or how they portrayed it in the other movies. They did a nice trailer though.

He is a toy in the past based on a hero in the future since the technology Buzz is using does not exist when the toy story buzz lightyear toy exist.

The technology in this trailer for the Lightyear movie, still doesn't exist.

In Toy Story Buzz is a future space man fighting for the Earth federation against the evil guy. If the Buzz toy is based off of a real person, some sort of time warp must have happened like Buck Rogers only in reverse.

It's 202,1 it is pretty much required that a certain number of the cast be a person of color and quite possible lgbtq.

They did a great job of making this trailer and skirting around the comparison for the very first trailer with the voices by Buzz only saying "and". Cause we all know that if Buzz had spoken quite a bit this trailer would have had tons of videos comparing the voice of Tim Allen and Chris Evans.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
... Nah. Small old man rant here, let me clarify - I'm sure the movie itself will be good and make a ton of money, it's a Pixar movie.

But why is it a Buzz Lightyear movie? So that they can make nods to everything from star command, to his suit, to "to infinity"... most of which they do in the trailer? It's the same reason I just have zero excitement for the new Ghostbusters, I'm sure it's going to be a fine movie, but I already know it's going to be 90 minutes of taking every single little micro detail from the source and giving it this crazy excessive reverence. It was a movie about 4 idiots hunting ghosts. Toy Story was a movie about toys, and the last movie came out two fucking years ago. Who seriously watched this trailer and went "omg it's his space suit!"

Sidenote, his sidekick is a black woman, no problem, representation and all that, but let's be clear, there's a very good reason she's specifically a black woman. How about this - make a new movie about a female black astronaut where she's not relegated to the sidekick position if that's what you were going for in the first place. Seems easy.

I dunno man, it just feels incredibly cheap but I know it's going to work on millions of people, and someone somewhere is already recording themselves crying while watching it for their vlog. It's just so tiring.

Preach. Nostalgia taken too far is just infantilizing.

Regarding the “sidekick”, how is this a problem? Pixar has a history of very well-developed and interesting sidekicks. Dory from Finding Nemo (hell, she was so well-loved they gave her her own movie), Russell from Up, Eve from Wall-E, Mike from Monsters Inc., Sadness and Bing Bong from Inside Out, Hector from Coco, etc., and of course Buzz himself in the Toy Story films. I’d be extremely surprised if Buzz’s co-pilot doesn’t have a well-defined personality and probably a character arc of her own.

And Pixar did make a movie with a black lead just recently, Soul. It’s great and has a pretty unique message about what’s truly important in making life meaningful, so give it a watch if you haven’t yet.

Won't be the same without Tim Allen, not sure if I want to see it without him. Will seem like some cheap tv show or knockoff.

The premise isn't that Buzz (toy) is based off a real person, it's that he's based off an in-universe fictional hero. Like Superman or whatever. So this is a film that exists within the world of Toy Story (that Andy probably watched or whatever).

I think it's needlessly convoluted, to be honest. Don't love the premise. Otherwise the movie looks okay I guess and I'll see it because it's Pixar.
Was Tim Allen cancelled? I guess I missed it.
Possibly, but probably not in this case specifically. He was after all playing Buzz in Toy Story 4. I imagine since this real-world Buzz is basically a different character and design, they wanted a different voice. Similar to how Mario in the movie isn't being voiced by Charles Martinet, I guess?

I'm surprised at how cool this looks, will watch day 1. Very nice animation and very curious what the actual story will entail.

And are a couple of people in here really complaining about the black woman? At first people complained that studios would change a white character to black and screamed that they should create original black characters. This film does that and people still complain. Now studios need to make whole new franchises for black characters to exist? HUH?

I'm one of those few people who thought the Toy Story movies were incredibly overrated. That's not to say I didn't find them entertaining, but there are superior animated movies out there.

Yeah the timeline here is weird. Were the Toy Story movies actually set in the future? WTF lol.
Note the colour of the crystalline material powering Buzz's ship.
Not unlike that of another experimental craft piloted by a certain Captain.
Buzz's voice actor is Chris Evans.
Pixar is owned by Disney.
As is Marvel Studios.
Weird timeline you say...

I have a feeling this is going to go the way of Incredibles II, completely forgettable.

Can't believe they pulled Tim. 🤣 Yeah I easily can. Sadly this type of crap probably has tainted every aspect of production. It will be a miracle if its any thing close to their older work.
