Likely GOP hopeful Ben Carson call Obama a psychopath

It's sad to see Dr. Ben Carson, obviously a smart man, pimp himself out to the right like this.

Jesus, man, you're better than this.

I'm not sure it's that obvious. You can be academically gifted in a field and still be an ignorant, uninformed, religious zealot who promotes abhorrent social ideals and shitty, demonstrably bad economic policies.

I've seen this first hand. Ideology can make otherwise smart people into something else completely.

I remember I read Carson's autobiography "Gifted Hands" in HS and thought he was crazy.

He thought God put 20 bucks on the street for him to find so he could afford the application fee to college.

For better or worse, Carson is unelectable. The Republicans know that. He's really smart, but he doesn't seem to understand that you can't say anything you want in public.

The only real potential contenders are Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Rick Perry, & Scott Walker. Every one else is wasting time and money, as they will never get anywhere near enough GOP support to win.

Jeb wins, taps Rubio as running mate to secure Florida. But Hilldawg wh0ops em in the general

Remember, the RNC changed the delegate rules last RNC to favor the establishment after Romney barely scraped together a majority in the primaries. Ironically, it may make it much harder for Bush in the unlikely event a more strident candidates runs away with a majority of the states early on.

Paul is mostly establishment despite his reputation.

Hillary won't be an instant win, honestly. The entire Haiti debacle is going to be a major hurdle for her. It'll also be interesting to see how she handles her ties to Obama. Jeb has a shot, I think.

Andrew Jackson may not have been a cannibal but he sure was a genocidal eugenicist
I would not refer to Jackson as a eugenicist, and in my eyes that term isn't as dirty as some would like to make it out to be. I've spoken at lengths before about how the biggest problem with eugenics is how it has been perverted throughout history by people like Hitler and Woodrow Wilson to support their agendas.

They only way Hilary loses is if they find something sinister to make a scandal out of in her emails. No Republican carries the weight that she does. Plus she has the female + minority vote sown up come the general election. Can't see Republicans competing with that.

I think the Haiti scandal is absolutely huge, and Jeb would be a fool not to use it as ammunition.

Why do Republican candidates all seem like shit-heads? Sure, the democrats can be pretty stupid, but it's not usually about denying people basic human rights.

Because the Tea Party faction is composed of absolute lunatics, and people like Jeb, Perry, Paul, Huntsman, Romney, etc. all have to go to the right during primaries to win their support. This ends up making them look like morons.

I remember I read Carson's autobiography "Gifted Hands" in HS and thought he was crazy.

He thought God put 20 bucks on the street for him to find so he could afford the application fee to college.

God also helped him cheat on a chemistry test:

http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Ben_Carson_Principles_+_Values.htm

[In college] I wasn't doing well in freshman chemistry, which was a prerequisite for medical school. The night before the exam I poured out my heart to God, asking forgiveness for squandering such a wonderful educational opportunity. I asked him to show me what he really wanted me to do with my life, since I obviously wasn't going to get into medical school. Preferably, I asked him to work a miracle.

As I tried futilely to memorize my entire chemistry textbook, I fell asleep and entered a dream: I was the only student in a large auditorium, and a nebulous figure was writing out chemistry problems on the chalkboard. I awakened with the dream vivid in my mind. When I opened the test booklet during the chemistry final exam, I was flabbergasted when I recognized each of the problems in the booklet as one of the problems that the nebulous figure was working out in my dream.

I knew that God had granted me my miracle.
I promised God I would become a diligent student and make him proud of me.

I'm stunned that Carson's people would greenlight a GQ piece. Talk about not protecting your candidate...I won't call it a hit piece but Carson's comments throughout the article make him look like a complete idiot.

Hes a doctor. You can trust him.
I always hate how I can feel so unintelligent by not being a doctor but can also feel like he's an idiot for his opinions.

It's confusing.

If he's good enough to be a doctor, maybe he's right and I'm the stupid one for disagreeing with him?

In the end, in no world could I ever consider Obama to be a psychopath. And my friend recently said Obama's presidency is a "tragedy." Same thing. I cannot even fathom what it takes for someone to find their way to that opinion.

This, pretty much. In order to win the Republican primary, you have to pander to the chunk of the far-right that is pretty much literally lunatics. Doing that makes you say things that reasonable people can look back on during the general election and think "what the fuck?"

i believe that almost every politician fits a few of the criteria to be considered a psychopath

so sure i guess hes probably not lying

he means it in an insulting "crazy" way though so whatever though

It's sad, really. About 1/3rd of the Republican Party has hijacked the entire party, basically, and there's nothing anyone can really do about it.

Holy shit. Some people.

People who are highly educated in technical or scientific fields often have little training elsewhere, but enter those fields with the assumption that "I'm very smart, I'm sure my ideas are sound", so they find it unable to learn from anyone else.

For example, mechanics often express annoyance with doctors because they think they know everything and argue with the mechanic when they're completely in the wrong.

The more intelligent you are the harder it can be to understand that you know jack shit about a topic. Flipping the switch from "knowing" to "learning" is extremely difficult.

A: Obama is a psychopath.
B: Well, he looks pretty normal to me.
A: That's just what a psychopath would want you to think!

My friend's parents love this gu, has his stickers all over their cars. Time to never bring up politics again.

So does my mom. But if you've seen me talk about my mom here before, that's not very surprising. She also loved Allen West.

Have you told her why Allen West "retired" from the Army?

Though I've found a lot of Republicans to see that as how more soldiers should be acting.

Oh if Hilary is elected you'll have the same bullshit just switched from racial lines to gender lines.

To some extent sure, but everybody has a woman in their family even bigots. The same can't be said for a mixed/black man.

If you look at the checklist almost every human in history meets at least a few of the criteria.

Carson's comments are so ridiculous, I had to drill down on this story. The GQ article linked to in the CNN post is quite entertaining. Check it.out, guys. Ben Carson is an interesting fellow.

I'm a little sad about not being able to vote in the primary.

Well since Hillary is gonna nap the nomination you could be like my devious friend and change your affiliation to vote in the biggest nutjob. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but he cited examples the right has done it so who knows maybe it's fair game.

Yep. Her response was "He should have actually shot him."

My mom is a very hateful person.
