What's the current status of Ray Gigant? Yes/No/Maybe?

I really want Ray Gigant

Wait, this is a possibility?? I'll buy that thing so hard it will crash their website by all my F5'ing. I was pretty bummed when Ray Gigant was announced as a digital-only release.

well it was requested a lot and I think Acttil was contacted, but I forgot of anything came from that.

Don't get your hopes up yet!

Ray Giant would be awesome but I think the chances are pretty slim. Bandai Namco didn't even bother making an Asian release, although they are one of the strongest Vita supporters.

Considering they are selling out in seconds even with the one per person limit, I think that's what it should be, as unfortunate as that may be for some.

As I already said in the upcoming Vita games thread, I am NOT missing out on Octodad lol. It was like my most anticipated indie to get picked up, really keen for it!

Realistically, my wallet can't take the hit of buying both Oddworld and Octodad from eBay :(

Octodad is one I've always thought looked kinda fun. Father's day release is gonna be a tough swing for me though... I think we're going on vacation that week.

Seems a tick higher than usual. Though like Oddworld it's a "bigger" name I suppose.
Oddworld was 5000 PS4 and 2500 Vita.

Thanks. It seemed higher than Oddworld which I wasn't expecting, since Oddworld has the brand name behind it.

Also didn't realise there was such a discrepancy between Vita and PS4 on that title. Hopefully I've got a better shot this time!

SO IN for Octodad... just... which platform!!! All my purchases have been for the Vita so far but I feel like Octodad might be more fun on the big screen

I think a max of 2 copies would be nice, so you can keep one sealed for your collection and open one to play.

They are allowing two copies per platform again. At least for Octodad.

To be honest, I’d prefer they kept it at one. There just have been too many times where copies have sold out within just a few minutes. And there is still the issue with the shopping software telling us they still have copies in stock, where they really aren’t because of the overload.

It seems like there was a good balance of copies for Oddworld at 5000 and only one copy allowed.

Maybe because they don’t anticipate Octodad to sell out as fast.

nvm I should learn to read

Not sure why they would allow 2 copies for Octodad from the start, makes no sense.

I’m guessing because maybe Octodad isn’t a big title (like Oddworld) and still has a good amount of copies allocated.

I’m hoping for the EAS titles that they go back down to one.

With the last titles, the limit was moved up to 2 if it didn't sell out or am I remembering wrong?

That seems like the better approach.

Yes, that is what had happened with the last sale of Oddworld. The second batch was still around until the next day, so they opened it up to 2 copies a person.

And I agree, that is a much better approach.

Let everyone get at least one copy first, and if it’s still around, then they can open it up for an additional copy.

Edit: Also, this makes it easier again for scalpers. They keep one, sell the other. Or, just sell both. Sure, they could do the same with one copy, but at least it’s only one, not two. I’d rather have that second copy go to someone purchasing the game for themselves.

Count me in for the "only one copy per person" crowd. If anyone wants two, just get a digital copy.

Agreed. Limit one copy per person was working no need to change the formula now. Yes, there are more copies but this is all still in it's trail phases... Limit one for now and if by some chance the game doesn't sell out in a day... allow the purchase of a second copy.

There's no way these games aren't going to sell out regardless.

That was only the "formula" because they didn't have the financial means to press more of the last couple of releases. I see no problem with letting people buy two of each, especially given the increased press run for something that isn't exactly a particularly new or big name game.

Octodad was finally officially announced to go on sale on June 19th. It'll be $24.99, USD, for either Vita or PS4 at LRG.
Worst kept secret finally unveiled! I was admittedly starting to worry whether it had somehow slipped to next month since we were able two weeks away from the speculative release date. I'll be down for a PS4 copy on the chance that I can manage.

VA11 HA11A pls lol
Amen to that! It's the main reason I purchased a Vita in hopes that LRG could make a potential release happen, but I've been enjoying the handheld enough from the few games that I own. It has been a worthwhile grab regardless of whether it actually comes to fruition.

I preferred the usual one copy per customer limit, too. If they happen to still be sitting on copies after a whole day, Limited Run can open the flood gates to burn out their stock similar to their treatment of "Oddworld". Limiting the initial release windows at least put potential scalpers in a dilemma of either flipping their copy or keeping it for resale value down the line on the chance it sells out. Most importantly, diehard fans at least have an opportunity to grab their own disc.

So, this is probably a good time to ask: how are the console versions of Octodad in comparison with their PC counterpart? Especially the Vita one. I know it doesn't use Unity, so at least the performance should be good/decent.

Yeah, I also support the "one copy per person" logic. If you need two, buy it digitally.

I've never played Octodad, but I'm in for both platforms. Damn my completionist tendencies.

What if you already own it digital and want two, so you need three? ;)

One per person until sales stall seems like it works fine so far.

We are doing the 2 limit this time because Oddworld took awhile. We also noticed that the first round seems to go a lot faster then the second round. So we are trying to allocate more for the first round to keep the site from crashing. Also most people that show up when the limit is lifted tend to be scalpers and it's hard to justify canceling their orders if we said the limit is lifted.

A lot of people seem to forget that there are two rounds also, we noticed a HUGE influx of traffic during the first round. By putting more stock and setting a limit of 2 for the entire launch we can identify people who abused the system much easier. Also if we set the limit to 2, people only have to pay shipping once. We won't be lifting the limit so there is no risk of people getting more than 4 total. Saves us a lot of headaches and makes it easier to find fraudulent orders.

As always we will be watching to see how the store handles itself and how happy customers are.
