Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

lol im not buying a physical copy of exiles end for a chance at getting a net high localization. nope.

Yeah, it just stinks when publishers do stuff like this.

Exile's End would definitely sell, in general.

Yeah, something about this bothers me a bit. I really have no interest in Exile's End... and I don't wanna be spending £30 for a "chance" that it might lead to Net High.

I'd rather just demonstrate my interest in Net High, something entirely separate to EE. I mean, they're not really related in any way other than "both published by XSEED".

On the other hand, if you vote yes it will still sell out eventually. They always do.

I hope people don't mind if I do mono-VNs.

Picks:
1. Chaos;Head Dual (fan translation exists, but getting the rights might be tricky)
2. Himawari (existing official localisation)
3. A Clockwork Ley-Line (in-progress official localisation)

Dream picks:
1. YU-NO (although a fan translation of the original exists, I don't know how applicable it is to the remake)
2. Fate/Stay Night (good luck with that - rights issues is the only explanation why the most popular VN of all time still hasn't been released in English)
3. Robotics;Notes (eh, I'd like to play it before the sequel which is a bit more likely to get localised)

I'm sure it will. It's just one of those things - I'll feel bad not supporting it because I desperately want Net High or Uppers, but I don't really want to spend money on something I've no interest in. If it was a Japanese game, then yeah I could see it - but an indie metroidvania shouldn't really have much of an effect on an otaku visual novel or Kenka-Bancho-esque brawler.

If it does happen, I'll probably just buy it anyway just to show support (although you're right, maybe I can sit it out and it'll sell anyway).

I still believe fully that PQube is working on the Science Adventure titles since folks scream at them every day

I just had an interesting conversation with the director of Death Mark on Twitter.

LRG was mentioned.

(Mustn't spread self too thin, ha ha.)

You do have a point, it's certainly not a lack of interest on PQube's part preventing more titles from being released. I fully believe there are limitations on the Japan side of things.

I've heard implications that Chaos;Head Noah was already shot down for localization, for undisclosed reasons. Considering it was never localized to other Asia territories either I assume there may be licensing issues.

Enough to switch it from a Dream Game to Realistic Pick?

The Death Mark votes so far have been split pretty evenly between both, might be time for an edit :P

Oh gosh, who knows!

He was unaware of LRG, and of the fact they published the physical version of Ray Gigant.

He also inadvertently confirmed a PS4 version, ha ha.

Edit: Although a PS4 version was pretty obvious based on the fact it's listed as "Shiin (PSVita)" on the JP store.

Sounds good, fingers crossed!

and lol at that PS4 version confirmation, Aokage getting them scoops ;)

edit: seriously though, the Vita/PS4 combination can only mean good things for a possible localization

I'm sure a moderately-sized Exile's End limited run would do great and prove to Marvelous that Limited Run Games is a serious partner.

The one thing I worry about Bon Appetit is that it's divided in two packs and I wouldn't want a card with just one of the packs.

Truth, it's not as though Exile's End is a particularly bad game or anything.

Just... Net High! Uppers!

My picks:
(3 pts.) Shiin
(2 pts.) Uppers
(1 pt.) Stranger of Sword City Revisited

Dream Games:
(3 pts.) Ao & Zero no kiseki
(2 pts.) Shin Hayarigami
(1 pt.) Sora no Kiseki games.

Would you really want Zero and Ao from a publisher as their first localization effort? Those would be my dream picks but not in that scenario.

My picks would probably be

3 points- Chaos Rings Trilogy
2 points- Tales of Innocence R
1 point - ???

Chaos Rings might as well be on people's dream lists, since SE made it clear that they don't want to work with LRG right now :/

How ridiculous. "Money? Naaaah, screw money."

I'd love to have Mana and RomaSaga2 physical, not to mention the -fully localized- Chaos Rings pack :/

Oh, and that other fully localized thing called I Am Setsuna

Likewise. I just wish these bigger Japanese companies had more trust with western partners and their global fanbase :/

There is money to be made, but it's not enough for them to pay any mind, which is why partnerships with companies like Limited Run Games are always a win-win situation.

They brought Mana out digitally, and it must have done well enough that they're now committed to bringing RomaSaga2 out digitally as well.

The ones that baffle me completely are Chaos Rings and Setsuna...

Setsuna makes sense now because they were planning to bring the Switch version over, but I'll never understand why they didn't bring the Chaos Rings games, when there are the asian builds ready with the english script.

I wonder if they knew a year-plus ago they'd be doing Switch for Setsuna.

Hmm, probably.

But yeah, Chaos Rings is the most baffling thing ever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bunny Must Die PS Vita/PS4 has not been released in the West, correct?

I just now realized what a -massive- shame that is.

I don't expect them to actually do my dream games, so I didn't put a lot of thought into that.

You should follow them on Twitter. Or pay attention to this thread

The recent pages about japanese stuff don't make it super easy.
And even sifting through the topic everyday I missed Strafe :x

This Google Calendar thing is a great idea though ! I'll try to add it to mine.

Is the voting still going on?
It sure is! Thank you all who already voted.

LAST CALL Reminder that hat we have a GAF LRG VOTE going on right now [localization suggestions].

Ends today at the time when LRG typically put up the second batch (3PM Pacific / 6PM Eastern / 11PM BST / 7AM JST),
I'll try to put up the final results shortly after.

To be honest I don't see why a company (whether it's DotEMU, LRG or someone else) couldn't port the TiTS trilogy (XSEED's Steam releases) to ps4 and possibly Vita too. It worked for Ys Origins. Although Ys is a miniscule effort compared to even one of the Trails games - it'd be awesome if someone could do it.

I believe I mistook the criteria for "plausible" and "dream" picks! I did consider publisher, but went mostly by difficulty of localization, ha ha.

You can always edit your post, I changed one of my picks earlier today since a bunch of people voted for Shiin but only one other Gaffer voted for the game I had voted for.

I haven't checked who's winning since Saturday, at that point we had a clear front-runner in both categories, 2-3 games that were very close for 2nd place and a bunch of games with the same number of votes for 3rd place.

Hope you won't mind doing a couple more mock-ups than six games, could be 10-12 final games. Still better than 50-100 though :P

Nah, I won't change mine, I'm pretty sure I know what the list will be :3

And of course, I'd be happy to do 10 or so (I suspect I've already done four of them, ha ha).

I suspect you might be right ;)

Glad you're cool with doing a couple more mock-ups, thanks again for putting in the work!
