Lindsay Graham minces no words. Firing Sessions will be the end of Trump Presidency

In this case he's not beating around the bush. This week is the pivot for a few folks. A little bird told me to expect something on Friday that will seal the deal for SOME politicians, but I would have considered any other oppo droppo to have done the same, yet here we are.

However, the mere fact that the dialog has switched from 'Troubling" to "end" is significant.

Little bird? Since when do 343 employees have insider access to the shenanigans in Washington? I would like to hear more. :)

Can't they kick him out regardless if they have Mueller or not?

Also what is the Mueller bill I keep reading here in this thread?

They can but the right hate accepting blame for their actions. I hadn't heard of the bill either...but I'd welcome protection.

So you are preparing a bill so your president doesn't fire the person investigating the president's campaign and yet you still support him?

Fuck off republicans.

The GOP still has to deal with the monster they made with Fox News and the Trump base. That someone like Graham is navigating the Fox News narrative to get to potential end of the Trump presidency, even with all the caveats, is really saying something.

"Technically, Trump didn't fire Mueller. AG Vince McMahon did that!"

Jesus. That joke actually makes me uncomfortable.

I can hear Jeff Lord saying "The President values loyalty, and Mr McMahon has been nothing but loyal to the Trump family over the past 30 years."

Literally a person in DC who works close to govt and hears the same gossip as reporters. Has no better insight than your average DC reporter, but has been right on the nose a couple of times.

PS not Priebus.

Hear, hear. Regardless of this current outcome, it's a welcome sign.

I actually could see Trump firing Sessions causing a huge rift with the GOP. Sessions may be a POS, but he's a POS that has a lot of backing from the GOP. Not to mention, a lot of Trump's base is also from Sessions.

Its pretty evident that there are enough rumblings to know that Trump is planning on firing Sessions. Not if, but when, with a path to try to fire Mueller.

Are you Louise Mensching me?

Probably, but on the other hand [raises eyebrows], we know they all know something. They wouldn't be in lockstep on curtailing presidential power to lift sanctions if the GOP truly believed there was no reason to do so. It all looks like nesting to prepare for the reality to come. This is Graham talking "tough" before it hits the fan so he can try to save face later.

John Barron?

If nothing drops tomorrow, I swear I will forever put your posts in the same tier as Louise Mensch and her stupid probiotics blog.

You guys (The GOP) have done nothing about Trump, so more cheap talk.
They did limit his ability to conduct a war without Congressional approval, and they look set to stop him from reducing sanctions on Russia. This isn't huge or anything, but it is signs that the Congressional GOP has completely capitulated their responsibly to be a check on the executive.

Presumably they're talking about reauthorizing the Independent Counsel, meaning Mueller could be rehired and continue his work under Congressional authority rather than being under the Department of Justice as he is now.

Yep yep. Graham said something that anyone who has heard Trump speak for more than 5 seconds would know he'd interpret as a threat. I don't have to have faith in Graham having a spine to infer that he's bat-signaling here. He knows there's no future in this whole Trump thing and he's positioning himself as one of the (R)s who was able to see the forest for the trees. Inviting others onto a lifeboat that he hopes doesn't capsize in the storm.

This comes off as provocation to me. I mean, a Republican Senator just, essentially, said about a Republican president "I wish a mother fucker would."

Just watched the Graham interview and he's definitely saying all of the right things. Let's hope hes a man of his word. I have my doubts.

Paul Ryan struck that amendment from the defense bill, and the sanctions haven't been passed.

You have my curiosity.

From a Constitutional Art 2 v. Art 1 standpoint, I'm not sure a bill can be passed to insulate Mueller from Trump.

Mueller was appointed under Art. 2 (Executive) branch. That is a pretty tough separation of powers issue there.

You what you can do Lindsey? Start talking impeachment if he does this. That's putting your money where your mouth is.

Yes, talk is cheap, but it looks like we've gotten to the long predicted point where Trump and his team are starting to become damaging to the Republicans and they're beginning to measure their options.

Watching Trump stomp around my government like spoiled toddler, ruining all progress is horrific. I would hate for him to get something else he wants.

On the other hand, Sessions is about as bad an AG as he could hire, so i guess I'm conflicted?

Literally just a person in DC...?

You have my curiosity.

Again, to recalibrate - this person knows about the same stuff as any DC reporter. No more, no less. This person was right about timing of a couple (three or four really) serious drops.

For all I know, tomorrow could be a detail about a person, or a decision made by someone else, or a bombshell, but it could also be a nothingburger. However I have faith.

Well no, lol. Someone in a position to hear the buzz. Anyway, you guys are overthinking it. At this stage I'd be surprised if something DIDN'T drop tomorrow, because something has dropped just about every Friday. But like I said, I trust them.

Appreciate the clarification. Expectations set accordingly.

...we certainly live in interesting times.
