Linus reviews The Steam Deck

I can't watch the video due to being at work, what does he say about it?.

I'm kinda surprised people were so hyped about it with it only being a 720 screen.
Summary: It's awesome. Less than half the price of it's nearest competitor, which isn't even a competitor. Order one now.

I've learned the hard way to avoid big things over my head in bed.

God damnit...

I still don't understand who this is for.

I mean unless you're constantly traveling or you're significantly space-constrained in your apartment, you can get a more powerful conventional console with probably less money.
You can't play the same spread of games with a conventional console. PC has the best exclusive library of anything, 40 years in the making, including most previous-generation consoles.

I'm interested on what this thing will do for Linux gaming.

If it becomes popular enough... damn, even devs getting proton/wine compatibility out of the box would be a huge win. And KDE is a great desktop that's been overshadowed by Gnome, I hope this gives them momentum.
Most people use KDE anymore. Gnome 3 is trash.

Play games on the go, around the house, on a trip, give to a kid, play emulators, heck at this price probably still cheaper than building a small pc with equivelent graphics.

why do people browse the internet on mobile phones while indoors instead of their more powerful desktop or laptop? People like the flexibility and portability even within their own home.

This is big.

It will be a great entry device for PC gamers at an outstanding price.

And will catalayst an entire market of handheld PCs.

Isn't the title of this thread missleading?

It should be: Linus is SHILLING the Steam Deck. This goes basically for everyone who gets to "review" this thing before it even came out.

And even after it came out, I won't pay attention to anyone reviewing it, unless they a) have bought it themselves (with proof) and b) don't get payed to review it.

Linus is an advertisment-goon.

The most first world problem ever, well this product is for you, congrats! Enjoy slightly less money for oddball tech with meh performance.

You say this like it's a bad thing.

I don't think anyone realistically expects it to be anything other than a niche product for enthusiasts. The fact that you can only purchase it via Steam and the style of marketing already tells you that.

It's the third nipple of gaming, sure you can have fun with it, but when it comes down to it, it's fucking weird and some people might enjoy it, and you can have fun with your third nipple, but at the end of the day, you're still a freak with a third nipple.

I have a third nipple, for real.

This is the handheld to own.

Who cares about size when you're an enthusiast.

Big graphics cards, big consoles, large buttockses, cash that rules everything around us.

It's not a paid advertisement. He's required to disclose that shit. If you can't understand that he and others get access because they have big channels and are generally positive, you're naive as fuck. That said, he has been very critical of companies like Nvidia and Intel. Would he still get their stuff if he didn't have an audience his size? Maybe not. A NeoGAF audience *should be able to understand it's not straight 100% facts...it's more helpful to have the content then not though.

Or just watch Gamers Nexus and stfu

This version is not perfect but it could turn out to be really great (playing PS3 games on the go, please do). In one hand, I wanna wait for a revision, on the other, it's fuck*ng cheap, give me one!

That is a lot bigger than I expected. Might well cancel my preorder now, taking that around seems like quite an effort.

this is perfect for my work, going around factory when checking out machines and docking it if I am at my table.

Just imagine holding that BBC* with your hands while in bed. Must be tiring. I wouldn't last half an hour with it playing next to my face. Besides I am sure that thing runs really hot.

*Big black console/computer.

I don't even know what's going on this thread anymore but I'm already fondling myself. Keep going guys, I'm thinking of all of you right now.

Are you the guy who buys stuff without actually reading the description and tech specs to make sure it is the thing you want/need, and then gives the product bad reviews when you find out it's not what you wanted? They gave virtually every technical spec that anyone would need to determine if the device is right for them, including the dimensions. You shouldn't have preordered if basic measurements were too complicated to understand. No offense.

Holy shit this thing is a big bitch

thing is more broad than his shoulders

Wow it really looks huge

Size isn't an issue for me.

It is really big

That's a huge bitch.
