LittleBigPlanet 2 |OT| A Platform For Games

I'm guessing the Move pack will be out on the 23rd at the earliest, after they get the other 2 Toy Story costume packs out, which I assume they'll do one at a time.

I hope we hear something soon about "game changers" like new gameplay mechanics and stuff; Move is something 10% of players will get use of (if that).

I want melee weapons (Sword&Shield/Axe/Hammer/Bow&Arrow); climbable materials and climbable ladders/ropes; fans/turbines that create air columns that you can float on and that push/pull you in/out of layers -- there's so much potential!

Another thing: when I (or another player) am(is) controlling a Sackbot, let that Sackbot do EVERYTHING I can normally do -- that means swimming and grappling, dammit!

I'd also like to be able to change the look of the Grapple Hook/Grabinators to something not so futuristic; let me choose between a wooden Grapple with a rope tether, a metal one with a chain tether and what we have now, like with the checkpoints.

Wow, no gold trophies!? I guess that is fine for free DLC but that isn't going to help me much when my trophy level is so high.

Also, they haven't added swords/weapons yet? I thought that would be perfect to introduce with Squall from the Final Fantasy pack. So is his sword just decoration?

DLC has a fixed amount of trophies, IIRC. You'll get the same from this as any other DLC, they just wanted more trophies so they used more bronze.

Ha, this is what we're getting this week:

Pretty cool.

Though, I'm getting tired of their staggered releases for DLC, now we have to wait another two weeks to buy the unlock codes for the costumes that we already have...

Hey guys, started playing again this week. Do the two tron outfits that just came out light up? Like the suits and stuff? Because I remember the Clu one didn't.

I'm a sucker for outfits.

I'm going to get back into this soon. Question though, have they released anything official for making top down levels? If not, is there any copyable template I could look for to help me out? I tried for days to make a minigame that I've wanted to do since the first game but I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted and got frustrated. Do you still have to make an antigravity vehicle for Sackboy, or can he just walk in a top down manner? Thanks for any help.

This would work awesome for some sci-fi stages.

EDIT: Anyone know how to make a cutscene occur once and only once?

I generally have something like a counter that is ANDed to whatever starts your scene (probably a sequencer). When the cut scene is about done, increment/decrement the counter.

I'm not sure if it makes it any easier to visualize but you could do pretty much the same thing in LBP1 with magnetic keys on dissolvable material and a piston-based AND gate.

Does anyone know where I can get the Playstation Move trailer that was posted on the store today?

Google was no help :(

It looks bloody fantastic and I hope the mini Move controller is a prize bubble :)

Do you guys think they will do some kind of "re-release" at a lower price when the Move patch is done? I still haven't bought this yet, and I'd like to buy a new copy for MM, but I just don't have $60 for games anymore. I know it's $47 on Amazon, but even that is a bit pricey for me with a backlog like I have.

Move Pack has:

- 66 stickers
- 41 decorations
- 32 sounds
- 18 materials
- 17 sequencer instruments
- 13 meshes (whatever that means)
- 8 sequencer tracks
- 6 costumes
- 4 interactive music tracks
- Paint tool
- Motion recorder
- Slice & Dice tool
- Brain Crane
- New sensors

I hope it's Sept. 6th, I'm tired of waiting for good content.

How much is this going to cost?? I am psyched!!!

No price is announced yet, but it won't be free.

It will be as much or more than the usual Level Packs (Like the Paintinator (Metal Gear Solid ) and Water (Pirates of The Caribbean) ones) So probably between $5.99 & $8.99

New free tools in update 1.06 as well as some changes

you can expect to see the following in Update 1.06

Angle Sensor
Speed Sensor
Rotation Sensor
Multipler Tweak for Score Giver
Player Number Recommendation Controls for Levels
Slice and Dice tool
Updated Water Bullets
Updated Bounce Pads
Triplets for sequencer

all free

Now that I've bought the game, is there any DLC that is consensually good? I have the Marvel, Metal Gear, and Pirates level packs already from LBP1.

You have the two main packs worth picking up. I couldn't really recommend any others, they are the same price as the MGS and PotC ones but you don't get as much content or quality wise IMO. You can play the level packs if a friend owns them (You just don't get to keep the prizes) so you can 'demo' them and see if you want them.

The Move pack will probably be worth getting in a few weeks when it comes out if you have move.

Other than that just get any costume packs you like.

Is there an explanation for all those things? like what does what and what did change exactly?

Thanks, I got the impression that this was the case. I loved the Pirates and MGS level packs, and I was satisfied by the Marvel levels. I don't believe I am interested in buying costume packs.

I actually bought the game specifically because of the Move pack (and I guess because I love LBP). I can't wait for that to come out! I wish they'd make more level packs though :(

Yeah theres no need to get costume packs unless there's a character you really wanna play as, I don't buy any anymore unless friends wanna play as a certain character, I have my Kai (Heavenly Sword) costume and thats all I need.

Everyone want's more level packs =[ There's now 2-4 companies working on LBP content (Though mainly costumes) so there might be more level packs in future.

Out of the level packs you don't have there's only 2 that have 5 levels, one being Toy Story (Which is alright but not up to MGS and PotC quality), and the other being the free Creatornator Pack, though they aren't really levels just one scene for each that shows off one feature of the pack.

The rest of the level packs just have one level where you collect all the sticks, objects etc you buy with the pack. Which sucks.

I have them all bar The Incredibles Pack (Took me that long to catch on I was being conn'd by these 1 level level packs xD) If you want to go though the other packs you don't have you can add me on PSN (PSNID: Toppot) and I can take you through them.

Is there a thread with level recommendations? Preferably with youtube links. I played LB2 for the first time in months on the weekend and I'd love to play some great new levels but sadly it isn't easy to find them without playing levels I have no interest in.

We should hook up. I haven't played a whole lot of LBP 2. Mostly cause nobody will play with me. :p

On LBP2 there is the Mm picks, choice levels picked by Media Molecule themselves for their quality/fun

There is a GAF thread with community level links that you can add to your queue on LBP.me

I watched a bunch of gameplay videos before this game came out, and I can't believe how little justice they did for the grapple hook. That thing is so fun to use, and the "rubber string" feeling it produces is so satisfying. I just didn't think anything of it until I tried it out.

Now I have a reason to buy a Move. LBP2. That looks really, really fun.

Fix'd! I played the LBP2 demo today and, somehow, it felt a million times more fun than the first one. Is this the general consensus for the single player levels?

The consensus is that they are a lot better. Each world could of been spun off into its own LBP game. Where as the first game they had one mechanic really (Grab) and so all 25-30 levels had to be challenging and different based one that one ability. LPB2 has a new mechanic each world so you only get 5 levels per mechanic really. Though they are still creative and interesting and this means you get a lot of variety throughout the game. I just think there's something to be said making 25 levels using one mechanic (plus jump and jet pack of course) and having to master it to get though (Aceing The Bunker for example) So I personally didn't find LBP2 as challenging but its so well made and fun and still not over easy by any means, much more mechanics and cinematic levels. It is a big improvement over LBP1 and there's so many new mechanics that the community levels are a lot more interesting. Plus it has Clive in it! (You'll know what I mean if you play it =P)

Buy this game! =]

lol make that about 4 or 5 hours of playing this game tonight...

It's really good. I had some trouble with playing online at first (people not even knowing what was going on after they let you join, ect) but it got much better. I really like how each world introduces a new gameplay mechanic. It makes replaying the levels more fresh and exciting. I can't wait to get back into the creator.

After playing many great community levels, out of curiosity mostly, i started to play with the creation side of LBP2 and it is surprisingly fun.

I have a question though. My test level was build on one giant framework (ground/roof all connected to each other) and became too complex. Since my shape is too complex, i'm not allowed to add anything but i'm not allowed to delete anything either nor can i change / simplify curves. Basically, i can't to anything to make my shape less complex at this point. Which means i can pretty much throw away my level. Is there any solution to this endless loop other than redoing it all?

Lesson learnt if i start doing a new level i guess...

In general, are there any tips in building frameworks (ground and roof) for a level. Since the whole thing is physics based, things need to be supported in order not to fall down. Which got me in this kind of situation. Compare it to building a house or appartment. The higher levels are supported by the lower ones.

Wait for the Move pack release, there will also be a free update at that time which includes new creator tools -- most notably for you: the slice & dice tool -- which will allow you to cut any "too complex" object into pieces.

As for building tips: I hardly ever glue pieces together anymore, just slap a Gravity Tweaker with 100% Dampening onto anything you don't want to move and be done with it; that way you can select and move individual pieces around without having to worry about other parts falling off/breaking (which happened frequently in LBP1).
