Liveblog thread for 3DS new Nintendo IP announcement (Code Name STEAM)

Monolith Soft is still making a 3DS game, right? (Or am I totally not recalling things right?) Any chance it might be something from them?

nope, earthbound = mother.
Earthbound is just the west name, in jp it was always mother.
Maybe father?

"New IP for Nintendo 3DS."

But... Metroid hasn't been on 3DS yet as a new game, right? RIGHT!? That must be what they mean!
I don't know if I'm serious.

miyamoto??? its going to be some garbage tech demo shit like those games he was showing on wii u....

Considering they need 90 minutes to explain it, yeah, probably. To be fair, that Project Giant Robot game was explained much better today on the Treehouse stream when Miyamoto wasn't around.

I think things in general would be better for Nintendo if Miyamoto wasn't around...

Wtf is this real life? First we have people shitting on this just because it's a new IP, and now people are shitting on it for being announced by Miyamoto

If it's Miyamoto I'd guess it will be something they hope will have mainstream appeal...so I'd rule out S.T.E.A.M.,an RPG or anything M rated.

I'm confused, because it says it's an original IP, not a new IP...

Where does it say new IP? Not that I have anything against a new IP, but I think people got it wrong.

Edit:

Nevermind. :P

This is what I am wondering though...I believe it was that guy that said Reggie told him it was an "Original" IP...now he is saying "New IP"...so could Original mean it is a current IP?

Was hoping for Majora's Mask 3D but this looks like something much bigger. Hopefully it isn't like the gameplay concepts Miyamoto had earlier.

Project Giant and Project Guard look great in terms of gameplay potential, but hopefully this 3DS project looks a bit more interesting from a visual standpoint. I want to see a fleshed-out world with wonderful new characters like the sort Pikmin gave me.

Hopefully it's more Pikmin than Wii Music or Nintendogs. Also hopeuflly it's not some unfinished tech demo stuff like his Wii U stuff is right now.

But considering he is also working on StarFox Wii U and those...welp.

I don't think most people have a problem with the announcement being a new IP, they're complaining that there's no new Metroid game.
In an E3 that had 2 Zelda titles, a new starfox, super smash bros (+ tournament), a new shooter ip, Xenoblade sequel, pokemon game, etc. We should be grateful for what we did get. This really does come across as ungrateful when we're complaining that our dream game didnt get anounced given the wide amount of variety and content. Dont get me wrong I would've loved a new Metroid and Majors remake as much as the next guy but this E3 Nintendo blew away what everyone has done the past 5 E3's

You guys are unbelievable lol We're getting something new, and you are seriously telling me you prefer a remake? oh my.

Anyway, I hope we have some trailer or something up on the YT channel after this thing's over. It's been long since we got high-profile new IPs like Splatoon and presumably this.

Miyamoto made a bunch of tech demos just to show off the Wii U's GamePad. He doesn't really need to do that for a handheld that's been around for four years and probably has two years left at best.

And even if it is a tech demo or casual thing, that's probably why it's a roundtable a day after Nintendo's main show, because they wanted to show it off without making people upset during the main video thing.

I'm assuming the fact that they're having a roundtable for this game means it is an actual game and not still in the early prototype stages like Giant Robot and Escape were.
