LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

It's been over a year since I logged into my new(er) PSN account. Not sure if the "wrong username/password" error is accurate, or a result of the attack.

I suppose I'll wait to play my new 20th Anniversary system :(

I'm wondering why I can do anything on PS3 but nothing on PS4.

On PS3 I was automatically logging in, but with PS4 I have to manually enter my PW.

Is that why I've never been able to sign in on PS4 for days?

or is it the continued DDOS attacks?

or my area (Chicago)?

or because PS4 and PS3 use different PSN servers?

A combination of or all of the above?

This whole thing does emphasize for me the issue with the need all store purchases need to be verified online each time you start them in order to play. Though I understand they want some fraud protection there must be a different way to handle this? Such as once every 30 days or something? This makes me want to buy less digital stuff really.

Seriously. Pretty ridiculous that even if I just want to play single player on some games, I can't.

At least PS4 does not have that all my digital games work offline

First off I never demanded compensation so feel free to read back and verify that. Second again I DISAGREE and it's okay that I disagree because people form different opinions I'm sure I don't have to explain it to you but I can if need be. I disagree with your assessment that the ONLY thing that would result in compensation is IF Sony was negligent. Sony comps people all the time and most times don't even have to be asked but this is getting off track. My main argument is Sony has a responsibility to their customers and they should be held accountable despite the fact this in all likelihood wasn't their fault it is still Sonys service not performing and this argument isn't limited to just Sony but MS too. The bottom line is we pay for a service that isn't available as advertised that's it that's the end of the road. And to keep kicking a dead horse again and again and again I never asked for compensation i did however say and still believe Sony and MS do have to answer to their customers if they want to stay in business and taking people's money and lapsing on service is not okay and I will not agree with you under any circumstances to the contrary.

That's it that's the end of the road.

Wrap it up folks, we are done here.

You make it sound like the employees are always tripping over cables and knocking the service off. They're down from attacks, which are becoming more and more common.

Doesn't matter. It's not the consumer's problem. They shouldn't continue to charge for a service they know is unreliable. And if we're being honest we know this isn't limited to "attacks".

I don't think this is true.

If Sony is fulfilling it's obligation to provide service to the best of their ability and some outside force interferes with that ability to provide service, what in the world makes you think that Sony should be held accountable?

And how exactly would one "hold them accountable" without receiving compensation (whether that be in the form of free product or credited premium service time)?

They ARE accountable because it is Sonys service that's why. We pay to play now on PS4 maybe you've heard? Well anyway since we do pay to play on Sonys service Sony is absolutely responsible for it performing up to the standards were paying for it's really that simple.

i think he is talking about Xbox as on the PS4 this is not true, only time it will verify if you try to use your account on some else PS4.

The thing that sucks is regardless of when these guys stop, this will probably keep on happening due to copy cats and such unless and until there's a way of preventing it.

Imagine Comcast in it's death throes getting desperate and taking down services like Netflix and then spreading fud about the online future. Yikes!

If Sony gives away any nice freebies for an attack like this it will just be incentive to do it again.

The more they do it the more they'll risk getting caught and the more they'll have to rent the botnet etc.

Also this isn't winning them any points outside their small community. Kim reneged the mega passes. They keep this up they'll be marginalized and/or caught

Finally got signed in to PSN on the PS4 but getting a "Destiny servers are unavailable' error in Destiny. Haven't tried any other games yet.

The 2 times I was actually able to sign into PSN within the last 3 days Destiny wouldn't connect for me either. I tried for an hour and kept getting the "you must be connected to PSN" error on Destiny and yeah it sucks.

All they should do is add the days to our subscriptions that we weren't able to use the service.
Its not really as simple as that though, a lot of people have holiday time at the moment and want to game during it, simply giving an extra couple of days is no compensation at all and insulting really. If they go the compensation route it probably would need to be at least a month.
I'd be more worried about it affecting future holiday purchases. If this starts to happen every year ut might put people off buying consoles for Christmas day and being disappointed.

How do you know that ?, if these "hackers" knew the users would get anything "free" over their BS attack, then they mightn't of done it at all. And i cant see any real gamers doing another one of these attacks in the chances of getting some free game they may already own.

On what system are you referring to? I bought Halo MCC digitally on Xbox One, and Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 and both played fine being in offline mode.

PS4 in this case, all my digital purchases do not launch at this time..including black flag which I had upgraded from a ps3 hard copy to ps4 .

Though now I am thinking of it, I am trying on my second ps4 I got recently , though not for the first time, could this not work because it is not my "primary"?? If so I stand corrected.

I think Destiny checks the plus authentication servers on start up which is causing the problems

I am pretty sure that is why.

Please provide evidence that Sony is behaving negligently in regards to this situation. I'll be waiting. Until then continue with your temper tantrum and wanting compensation for something that hasn't actually happened.

They are only accountable if it's their fault in some way. I don't understand how you fail to grasp that concept. It doesn't matter if we pay for service or not.

The concept that because you pay for something, that entitles you to service no matter what is horribly flawed.

Thats a fair point but I still think it would be just encouraging this kind of behavior if compensation outside of reimbursement for lost subscription time is givin.

See that's another thing last night I managed to get online with my kids sub accounts but since my primary was signed out I had to manually sign in which didn't works so while I'm on one of the sub accounts I tried performing the Internet test and it failed at PSN even though I was logged in and friends list worked and everything it was basically saying you're online but not online and the game didn't get past the sign in.

Tried restarting my PS4 and it actually signed in and Ground Zeroes immediately started downloading, so I guess we're getting somewhere.

how ironic that the platform where online is free is working, while the one that has paywall is down. sony being sony i guess.

GabeN is Santa and keeps us Steam gamers safe from all evil.
And that for a price of € 0.00.

What a fucking dick.
Coming from the guy (in the interview, not you lol) ignored by his parents who turned to computers for escapism. Did he forget that sometimes getting together with family to game is a thing during the holidays... in 2014?

Feel ashamed, but I called Sony regarding the outage to see if I could get some type of compensation for the days lost.
Hey Uni is tough and it doesn't hurt to try

Just got transferred twice until I got to someone "higher-up" named Albert.

They said they couldn't offer any information, but they said that they are aware of the outage and are aware of what those with Plus are experiencing,
duh
. He also said that they would be giving a statement regarding the outage and some sort of compensation soon.

I wouldn't get my hopes up though, this is CS, where everyone is the higher-up when they want to be. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sony statement thing wasn't a lie though.

And I disagree obviously. I don't understand why you don't understand what I'm saying so we're in the same boat you're just choosing to jump out and swim.

What a fucking dick. If you're trying to punish those companies fine but to punish the consumers is fucking dumb.
Yeah, it's funny what these people are capable of yet their cause is plain stupid.
