Looking for a cheap tablet that does what I need it to do

Hey all,

So I am looking for a tablet that will play Netflix and Crunchyroll without any issues while I'm on vacation or a trip. It doesn't need to be ridiculously crisp, doesn't need to be the highest resolution. It also doesn't have to be lightning fast, neither should it be a slug.

I feel that for the things I will use it for (probably cast to tv too) I don't need a Samsung or IPad at all. I've seen tablets that go as low as 60 bucks. So absolutely go ahead and recommend me cheap ones if there are decent ones.

You can get a Kindle Fire 7 for $50 and an 8 for $90. I’m not sure about getting the apps you want on the Amazon Store, but if you buy it, you can download the apks for Google Play on the Silk browser (There’s four or five that you need to download and install).
It’s probably the cheapest way I’ve been able to get one to do what I want out of it.

Fire HD 10 (2019 version)... goes on sale for $99 regularly. It has 1080, very good speakers, USB-C, and a fairly modern CPU

Google 'Fire Toolbox' to disable Alexa/Ads and add Google Play Store

You dont want the Fire 7 (shitty screen) or the Fire 8 (CPU is 2 generations old and super slow)

I have a 3rd gen iPad (A1403) wifi/gsm model that I'm not using. If you don't mind buying used hardware.

hold your phone close enough to your face and it'll appear as big as a tablet

You can get an iPad Air 2nd gen for cheap used, that would fit all your needs and is still supported today

The problem is that Amazon doesn't sell them to The Netherlands and some stores in my country do sell them but for ridiculous prices, they take advantage of this. But even the Dutch Amazon site doesn't sell them. It's very sad.

I definitely don't, but do you happen to live in The Netherlands? :) probably not, but you never know.

At this store where they sell used stuff they had a IPad last week but it was 150 euros or something, with 3 months warranty though. But for that price I would rather go for a brand new product.

I think these Amazon tablets are garbage. But Android tablets are also a shitshow. Usually the best price to performance is some random limited tablet with weirdly mid-high end parts where the parts were likely over produced and with no marketing the tablets basically don't exist and one day they are found in some warehouse and sold at fire sale price.

I d go with older OLED tablets.
Still happily rocking Samsung S2, am afraid to check how old it is, the only bit where it stsrted showing age after all the years is battery life. Used to last for a week, now I tend to charge it every second day.

Besides being slick pice of hardware, amazing screen.

Just rip or download your tv shows/anime and use VLC to play anime on any cheapo tablet.
Fire Hd Plus or the M10 Plus Lenovo should do.

There is no such thing as a good cheap tablet , most are that cheap for a reason and have no storage , shitty screen or slow/old specs.

Best budget tab is probably a Samsung Tab A that goes for a little over $120.
You never specified what size you were looking for .

Well…

I ended up with a tablet alright, but it’s also a laptop. Very similar to Surface. I managed to buy the HP Elite X2 1012 for 140 euros. It has been used but in good condition and again…it’s 2 in 1. Awesome. Windows 10 Pro and everything, SSD etc. According to reviews it’s almost on par with a Surface Pro 4.
