Looks like Assassin’s Creed Red’s protagonist is an African Samurai

So this is inspired by an actual unique historical figure, in a series known for highlighting unique historical figures, and some are whining about it and already crying woke?
Thousands of feudal Japanese-inspired games where you play a conventional bad-ass Japanese samurai, god forbid you play as a black guy.

The last few entries featured playable female characters in masculine societal roles and beating up on grown men twice their size.
No problem suspending your disbelief for that.

So, out of the thousands of japanese samurai games that exists, how many of them feature a playable yasuke? 🤔

One:

Also, you can use Yasuke model on Nioh 2 (I think that in the first game too, if I remember correctly).

Coincidentally, It was also announced last month a Yasuke game:

Anyway, Yasuke had a unique and interesting life, if this is true and Ubi doesn't fuck up, this game might end up being amazing.

Out of millions of samurai they choose this

But no it's not woke lol
Out of millions that have hundreds if not thousands of entertainment works already.

IDK, this one seems more like, "this has not been done before with this unique figure," more so. And I will be the first to admit that the woke culture virus is plaguing institutions.

Like I said prior, it's not like they are pulling a Disney or Netflix with a race swap patronizing backhand to "people of color" saying they don't deserve original works, this is literally an original work based on an actual unique historical figure.

The idiots are the ones who can't see woke in this game

Try to use your brain
We should establish a baseline for you.

How woke is this situation on a scale from 1 to 10:

How about this one:

I dont care about the skin collor, but dude is supposed to be one of the few africans in the country, and you'll make him an assassin?

Someone that should blend into the crowd?

That's ... a choice. The protagonist will be as discrete as a dragon among the japanese crowd.

But AC being about silent kills is long gone, so eh

Cool. Before someone calls this woke or something, he did exist and served with Oda Nobunaga:

Yeah, but that's not the point. This is the same argument we see when there's race/gender/sexuality swapping and everybody goes to defend it being canon because in a special edition of a story in a multiverse that character was gay or black or whatever. Or because, you know, no one explicitly ever said the little marmaid wasn't black. Wink wink.

They're doing it because they fucking need to have diversity. Will that make the game bad? Not necessarily. But we are more than allowed to roll our eyes.

Can't wait to be lectured about racism in an AC game.

Don't care....as long as it has towers to unlock other areas and don't get rid of the grind - God, I love the grind.

If that is supposed to be Yasuke, I think we can narrow down the setting to 16th Century. Oda Nobunaga's time. I think it's pretty cool, but I can already see the "controvery" surrounding this miles and miles away.
Yea I was gonna say wasn't there an actual African Samurai, is there a film based on him as well or am I thinking of the Tom Cruise film?

We need a new samurai game like we need a new zombie game, but not gonna lie, the yasuke angle is pretty cool

We're talking about gameplay here
How can you call it woke when you haven't actually seen the game? Do you know if they'll be preaching about inclusivity, homosexuality, or gender equality? Then how do you know it's woke? The mere fact that they picked the black samurai is enough to make it woke to you? This train of thought tells a lot more about you than it does about the game.

No need

You should read this book

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

As for this, yeah sure I'm down, can be a cool setting. Plenty other samurai games coming out too if you feel this is not for you (despite literally nothing other than the race of the main protag being "leaked")

On one hand it's a really, really interesting figure to base a game on.

On the other, come on guys... it's obviously loaded and they want to avoid the XVI effect.
