Looks like Assassin’s Creed Red’s protagonist is an African Samurai

On one hand it's a really, really interesting figure to base a game on.

On the other, come on guys... it's obviously loaded and they want to avoid the XVI effect.
Wait to see the game and its content first?

But why would they want to avoid the XVI effect? That sold well.

I'm not the kid one who is crying about someone not liking the design of one of his toys so i wonder who can tie his shoelaces
You've been crying for 3 pages about a game without any info other than "they picked a black samurai" lmao.

What effect, that Japanese people aren't allowed to be in a game based in Japan if they made it centered around a ethnically Asian Japanese guy?

Because I would love to see the woketards cry about that one.

Isn't AC Red going to be like the previous 3 titles in style?

I'm only interested in Mirage and whatever future titles are of the older AC in gameplay and design.

Yeah, but that's not the point. This is the same argument we see when
No, it isn't, this is a historical figure in a game franchise about historical figures/events
You have thousands of other japanese samurai games to choose from if you don't want to see Yasuke, since there's apparently only:
That has him playable, you can't just go on to cry whatever ridiculous argument you think you had when this (yasuke) hasn't really been done before, and doesn't affect the hundreds of upcoming japanese samurai games where there's no yasuke.
We're not talking about gameplay here
You're like, super racist; or maybe just supremely stupid, either or take your pick.

What is true about this game being an online game? And if true, online as in we see other real players as assassin's in the game world?

Could be cool, the character is certainly interesting and I think they also needed something to set themselves apart of Ghost of Tsushima (2).
Shame they can't just tell his story and have to instead focus on the boring templar plot and aliens.

The idiots are the ones who can't see woke in this game

Try to use your brain

I think you are mistaking what woke is.
This isn't any more woke than Nioh or The last Samurai (movie) being loosely based on real white guys is "racist" or a form of "white supremacy".
What IS woke is that the same publications and individuals that whined about Nioh and The Last Samurai will probably praise this. What is is woke is the mentality of "it's ok for this game set in japan to have a non japanese main character...as long as they aren't white".

If you were upset about Nioh and are also upset about this I guess I can see your point.
If you weren't upset about Nioh but are upset about this then maybe you are just racist.

Saudi = arab

Arab = Saudi

We are 90% of Arabian peninsula

I'm explaining 101 geography here

Aren't you conflating geography and demography though? Doesn't Yemen have nearly as many people as Saudi Arabia? And then there are the populations of Qatar, UAE, Yemen, Bahrain and Oman. Not sure how you come to the conclusion that "Saudi = Arab, Arab = Saudi".

Oh no, not at all. The comedy would be deliciously fun.

I mean, we know they're intellectually stunted when it came to FF16 and they were projecting their bigotry and racism all over the place, even the same with Ghost of Tsushima dev studio with the manufactured retardism, but I do not think this is a response to that.

Do I think the current year we live in possibly paved the way for someone to have that little light bulb go off, sure, maybe, possibly, but it's still a historically unique figure that does exist and has not had many works done. So I am down to see what they do.

There are a lot of Arabs. Iranians, Jordanians, Egyptians, Sudanese, Yemeni, Bahraini, Kuwaiti, Libyan, Moroccan, Algerian, etc..

Which one do you want me to pick?

I'm half Libyan so I'm allowed to use this gif. It's our greatest moment in the entertainment industry.

Right. Just one of the many Japanese historical figures with such a rich history and background that deserves to be the main fucking character of a game that takes place in a culturally homogenous place like Japan.

Ok, dude was banned. Can we now talk about why this game isn't going to be a ninja assassin game? Why in the world make a samurai game when there have been so many recently?

Assassin's Creed games don't star major historical figures, they star someone who can be placed in the vicinity of them.

It's not like historical Japanese figures have been starved nor non-romanticized in media, from Japan to the the US of A.

No thanks, I want to play as a Japanese samurai.

BTW for woke points - it feels like asian protagonists are way less common than black.

Exactly and it works way better this way. The assassins are meant to operate in the shadows but present during major historical events. The game will feature many major historical japanese figures that will be central to the main plot, 100%.

In western games they certainly are.

Iranians are Persian/Aryans, Egyptians are Egyptian.

Iranians are Persians/Azeris/Arabs/Afgani/Balosh, only around 60% of Iranians are Persians, Iranian isn't a Race, it's a national identity encompassing millions of non Persians and Persians as well. While Egyptians are mostly descendents from a Myriad of colonizers from Romans to Greeks, Arabs, Mamluks, Nubeans and Ottomans but modern Egypt is a leader of Arab nationalism and has the greatest contribution to modern day Arabic literature.

..like Nioh?
Also, sure why not? What exactly is wrong with that when all the other figures have had their stories told a million-fold, telling the story of yasuke is not going to kill your parents and burn your house down.

So, we're supposed to see "woke" in NioH, where Team Ninja, out of all the famous Japanese Ninja folklore, chose a white Dutchman (Irish in the game's lore) named William Adams, and not because of the merits he brought to the game's narrative the team wanted to tell their story, as a character?

Both, William and Yasuke, are important parts of the Sengoku/Edo periods of Japanese history, serving two of the most popular Shogunates, under Tokugawa and Nobunaga.

Game devs flock to these characters, not because they're "woke", but because of what they ended up doing for their Shogunates/Daimyo, which would later influence not just Japan but it's surrounding regions as well. Actions speak louder than words.

It's not their fault that they were born black and white, and we're immigrants to Japan.

Try to count your total functional braincells next time, on one hand, and use them, to not look like a clown on the internet, for the world to see.

Yea I was gonna say wasn't there an actual African Samurai, is there a film based on him as well or am I thinking of the Tom Cruise film?
Don't think there's a movie based on him, there's an anime however. If I remember correctly it sucked.

To be honest is anyone expecting a game from ubisoft to be good anyway, it just been downhill for me with there assassins games, its gonna have a hard time anyway if it ends up coming out same time as got2 or even rise of the ronin game

Before Persia was renamed to mean "Resting place of the Aryan", it was called Persia, the homeland for Persians.

Egypt is a bit different, but there is still a distinction between Egyptians and Arabs.

Yes, I am aware of pan-arab nationalism and the Baath party.

I'm down for it. It'll give an interesting side to his story.

Otherwise I'm really in for the kneejerk reactions of calling something an agenda when a black character is introduced along with those who suddenly turn a blind eye to their usual "cultural appropriation" rhetoric.

Oh, and yeah, hope the game is fun.

Honestly last Ubisoft game I really enjoyed were Rainbow Six Raven Shield and Ghost Recon 1, 2 and GRAW and Far Cry 2 is probably the best written game to every come out of Ubisoft. AC always felt like a chore to play and complete, but I loved the historical set pieces so suffered through them.

The term wokeness has ruined everything and the term is so overused now its becoming cringe. Here you a genuinely interesting character that would have been intriguing as a main character an like the early 2010s of gaming. However, because of all this woke anti woke bullshit that has infested the industry he's automatically dismissed because he's a black character in feudal Japan.

It's an interesting enough premise, but will probably be a wasted opportunity seeing as it's a modern AssCreed game. I'd rather play an action game like Nioh (yes I know they have that guy in it already) game with said figure/character than open world slop.
