Lords of the Fallen Developer CI Games Boss Claims He Has Data That Proves “‘Modern Audience’ Is A False Myth”

You're not wrong. You're actually correct here. But this developer seems to not want to have that conversation.
I don't think the two are unrelated. I think a lot of the developers who are pushing that message are mediocre at best, who wouldn't survive a meritocracy. So they push their shit messages into games AND they are bad at making games.
Even more than that. That type of thinking that seeps into the game design also seeps into hiring -or rather the other way around -, you'll never get the best developers if you're always trying to hit a quota. If 90/100 of the best game developers are men and you go out of your way to recruit 50/50 women/men you'll automatically lose out on better talent. If you're more conerned with hiring a sexual minority than a good writer you too miss out on the actual talent. The games are shit and woke because of hiring practiced, it does not lend itself to good products.

How many companies that we know of have actually done this?

A lot of his messaging generally does feel like pander-y marketing. I mean, I understand the game made improvements, but I feel like the type A/B thing got much more attention as opposed to the game actually receiving gameplay related improvements. I wanna know more about how the game improved across the board and why I should play it now. Not all this other nonsense, lmao.

I wonder where this "data" resides. Is it gathered from X? If so, that's really not saying much.

I assume he means his game getting a good bump in sales after removing some woke-ish stuff, certain non-woke games selling very well combined with many woke games tanking in sales.

Obviously being woke or not isn't the only factor affecting sales, but it's true that the 'go woke, go broke' seems to be a thing in gaming for many cases. Specially in game genres/types where over 80-90% of its demographics are adult, white (NA/EU), heterosexual males or from regions non-woke friendly (most Eastern EU, MEA, most Asia).

Other game genres instead have very different demogaphics, which are more open to wokeness.

@WellSheet said it best above. It's just marketing. I'm not hating on him. Do what you gotta do to sell the game and yourself (His Point of View of content creation), but I just wanted to state that it is just marketing (or Pandering....depending on your POV).
And hey fair enough. It may be just that.

Regardless, it helps to have someone show the water's safe.
