Any GAF in the Thousand Oaks area?
did i read this correctly? a korean bbq meetup in LA? I ... I might just make the drive. I found a good place near me that I enjoy, but it's nothing like the places I ate it in Hawaii. If LA-GAF can convince me of a good place there.. I'm down to meet up with you. I'm in.
Well if Korea Town isn't good enough for you then you might as well wait for a Korea-GAF meetup.
Los Angeles is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the absolute worst place I have ever been in my entire life and the fact that anyone is there because they want to be and not through some horrible twist of fate is kind of mind boggling to me.
That is all.
*leaves thread forever*
i dont live in LA. i live in costa mesa.
edit: nm. you mean hawaii. of course it wont be like hawaii. but i havent had good korean bbq in a decade.
there's gotta be another member of LA girlgaf who wants to go. is it weird that i don't want to be the only girl in the group?
I mentally assume everyone that calls la a cesspool and all other insults somehow arrived during the rodney king riots. I for the life of me can't figure out where all the hate comes from. What part of L.A. did you find so bad?
I've been in West LA, North LA, live in East LA and love it, and I've personally walked through about 30 streets of South Central L.A and enjoyed meeting the people that live in it.
I love this city. What you went through musta been random.
makes sense, what with all the meat that's going to be there

Since we are on the subject of LA. LAX is the filthiest and most ghetto airport I have ever been to. It's so bad that this is how most people are "welcomed" to southern California.

But the sun, it's gone. The sky is leaking and I'm cold.I am not scared. Not even a Earthquake gets me scared. LA either breaks a person or gets a person use to natural disasters. lol

Let's be honest, LA is a shit hole with small pockets of decent city life. If you want a good experience in LA, you basically have to stick to your box: never go east of the 405, never go north of the 101.
Problem is that box is the most expensive and most crowded part of the city. There's a reason you never meet LA natives: they were smart enough to get the hell out when they had the chance.
LA native here. Sounds like you got that all wrong.
LA is an amazing city with small pockets of shitty life.

West LA, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Los Feliz, a small part of downtown, Silver Lake, Little Tokyo, Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, West Hollywood, La Brea, Studio City and Santa Monica are all great areas. Just as with any place, there are good areas and bad. I think the immediacy of how quickly LA can go from beautiful to grungy is what throws many off.
I dunno. I grew up in Orange County and when I think L.A. I think of extreme poverty, graffiti everywhere, gang bloodbaths, and homeless people scattered everywhere. LA is like New York was in the 70s.
Pretty much. Just in Pasadena alone you have super nice areas, Old Town, etc. Then you go north up Altadena past the 210...

Jesus nobody ever told me this and I was looking at a potential new house for my family and then I look around and knew why it was so cheap. Ugh I got out of there fast.
2) homeless people scattered everywhere/extreme poverty really only applies to the area of downtown immediately surrounding skid row.

Are OC people allowed to pretend to be in LA?
As long as they don't bring up why they think or feel OC is better.
Damn. Why so many moves? Must be great to have experienced so many different states.Whooo-hooo! There are a couple of cats that live right around the block from me posting in here. It's kind of weird.
The greater LA area is the best place I've lived in the US by far, and I've lived in more than a dozen states. I hope to never move again.

Parents were nomads, and I just sort of carried on the tradition. It's been fun, and I feel I have a pretty interesting overview on how the US works, but I've found the place I want to call home. NorCal or maybe Portland for vacations (TREES MAN) but that's about it.
