So I selectively rewatched the Sun/Jin flash, and it put rain in my eye again.

Also, how great is the scene where they meet Sawyer? They know who he is, and Jin obviously gets a rise out of him being a detective, but Sawyer doesnt remember them yet.

That scene had me smiling ear to ear.

Hell, just about every scene last night had that effect on me.

I cant remember, but did ben enter the church? If not: what does that mean, in the end?

Ah btw:
Omg. This is so unbelievably good. i cried bitter man tears. <3
He didn't. He was waiting for Alex and Danielle/waiting to come to terms with his death.

"LOOOOOOOOCKE!"

The entire battle scene was fairly amazing.

Jack's superman punch is something that could have and really should have been corny, and yet, it was epic. That word actually deserves to be used in this case.

Look at that fucker. Give him a sword and he's some ancient warrior. ;)

He's still not ready yet? He's hasn't found his inner peace. But I'm sure that'll happen after he spends more time with Alice and Danielle.

Ben: "I dont think you need that chair anymore"
And then Locke rises LIKE A BOSS

Does anyone have a non-reverse gif of that epicness?

It gave me a perfect amount of closure and I loved it in every way. I don't think celebrating every event that's happened on the show and delivering the message that even beyond life there is love is a "fuck you."

I sure as hell am glad I didn't give a fuck about those mysteries anymore once the Island-moving, time-bending bullshit started. Poor LOST fans. :lol

And that's also why I liked the ending and would happily call this one of the better episodes of the last 3 seasons. On a whole, though... you just can't look past how badly plotted it was and how the writers just made it up as they went along with only an inkling of an idea on how to tie it all together and eventually finish it.

I still have absolutely no clue what Dogen was about.

In every response to the finale I've read, no one has made the connection of the bright light in the church to the bright light at the heart of the island. IMHO, that's the key to the whole thing. That's the answer to what the island is.

If you need it spelled out, the island is the very engine of life, death and rebirth for the entire planet. That's why it needs protecting, and that's why we all "go to hell" if anything happens to it.

this is obviously going to be the point where the pro and con arguments for the purgatory explanation come to a head.

you look at that reunion and say that it shows that the alt timeline means something.

I look at that reunion at the exact point where the alt timeline meant nothing.

once they explained that they were all dead, any previous resolutions and flashes meant nothing to me. it was all just running in circles till their souls could find peace.

meh.

I was much more strongly affected by the very real sacrifice Jack made on the Island to save his friends than the resolution of his daddy issues in a fantasy world before he could go to heaven.

I’m just thankful they ended the show in the real world with Jack’s eye closing instead of in this church.

Jack to Sawyer in the Incident: "See you in LA"

I guess they did afterall ;_;

:lol :lol :lol

Still the greatest BURN in Lost History.

Didn't even actually happen. Pretty much said: "See you in Hell, bitch"

the scene should have been cut earlier though, we kinda saw that he was actually going to miss the punch and hit the ground or something.

They weren't all guaranteed to move on. It was hardly some foregone conclusion.

Notice how Michael remained stuck on the island, as a ghostly whisper.

I'm stll amazed at how fans of every character should be happy with the outcome. Everyone got their moment to shine, everyone got a great ending.

Funny, because most people complaining about the finale said that it was too much fan service and not good enough to stand on its own :lol

Anyone who gave a damn about the characters loved it.

What we need is a spin-off series starting Dogen, made of 5 minute episodes where he explains some bullshit plot-hole every episode using pseudo-science BS, but in a semi-comic fashion.

Kind of like the Nadia omakes "Hey, how did the Nautlius escape being sunk to the bottom of the ocean?" "Magic underwater tunnels!" /nerd reference.

Seriously. I only really cared about Sayid+Nadia and Juliet+Sawyer, but the finale had me in tears over every goddamn relationship.

That and Hurley seeing Charlie. It felt like the big guy was trying to hold himself back from hugging him :lol

So based on what Hurley said to Sayid, can we assume that Dogen didn't know shit about shit and his Evil Detector was likewise a load of shit?

Fits thematically with the rest of the show.

Terrible.

I watched the Ashes to Ashes finale on Friday, and it did what Lost tried to do and was successful on every level where Lost wasn't.

If you look at A2A, the series introduced a limited number of elements - most of them this series except for the time travel, brought them up repeatedly to remind the viewer of them, and pretty clearly (for the most part) explained what they were and why there were there.

This is structured, well thought out writing.

Lost threw the kitchen sink in, introduced elements that they had no idea what they meant or how they would be solved, left a bunch hanging and introduced elements in the last ten minutes that had nothing to do with the rest of the show that had been built up so far.

It was piss-poor, ill thought out writing.

I wasn't happy with the evangelical nature of either, but A2A at least seems to have had a semblance of a plan that actually was thought out before hand and made sense.

The only finale I can think of that was worse, was BSG's.

This is take from another forum I read...

"The finale didn't answer (or even hint at an answer) to a single question about the island, its origins, its function, the "light", Jacob, Jacob's mother, Jacob's magic powers, etc, etc. The only mystery it did resolve definitively was the "what the heck is this alternate reality" question - something that was only introduced this season.

In other words, instead of addressing the central mysteries that have driven the show since the beginning, the writers conjured up a brand new mystery at the beginning of this season, and then used the *series* finale to resolve only that new mystery. And the resolution to that mystery - that this group had such fun times on the island that they decided to share a slice of afterlife together - is utterly unconnected to any other mystery that has ever been raised in the show. How anyone could watch this and conclude the writers totally had this planned out from the start is beyond me - there's nothing in the finale that would support that interpretation.

Seriously, if you think about it, this "they had such fun together they decided to meet up again after they all died" device could be used as a feel-good tear-jerker ending to *any* ensemble show. It's really a totally meaningless cop-out ending."

Couldnt have said it better

Poor 24. They couldnt have ended on a worse night.
I'm just going to catch up with the DVDs. I watched seasons 1-4 on DVD, seasons 5-7 live, and I completely disliked the first half of season 8. But I'll see the show through.

You're right though, there will be no discussion of it. Or at least, very little compared to lost.

Holy shit, we nuked LA X, the highwater mark for LOST threads, in under 24 hours.

Best part is: the LA X Topic was opened awhile before the actual episode!

LA X Opened from January 27th to Febuary 10th (Show came on Febuary 2nd) That's 15 days.

The End was opened for 127 post on Saturday, then opened at 1:20PM CST yesterday.

Its consistent with his character. His entire life people have been telling he was bad, from Kelvin in the US army, to MIB. He was told so many times, he even believed it eventually.

Just watched the end while having the last bit of a very precious whiskey in a glass that I got the same day as the spirit. I took the last sip the moment Christian walked through the door and the drink never tasted this bitter but silky smooth. Now I feel as empty as my whiskey bottle ... like I LOST two flawed yet precious friends. Thanks you, dear memories will remain.

I still don't get how Desmond can travel back and forth between the flash sideways... if nobodies dead yet, the flash sideways should simply not exist. That is if the theory that the sideways is where they all meet when they die stands true.

...I honestly don't know how to respond to this.

I don’t find satisfaction in the dead achieving enlightenment.

I find satisfaction in the living finding their purpose.

I loved the finale as much as any of you until those last 10 minutes in the church.

Once Hurley used the past tense with Ben, I went “uh oh” and started getting real nervous about what was coming up. sure enough, I was disappointed by the explanation of the X timeline.

I have one question, why was the island underwater in the beginning of the season

I think they needed to have a world where the island didn't exist to find each other. With the island, I imagine they'd be pulled in different directions much more. It could also have been a giant "EFF YOU, ISLAND!"

I don't get why people are having such a hard time understanding what was laid out in plain english during the show? And I really dont understand why people are so obsessed with walt? Dude is 18 years old now, he isn't gonna come back and play a 9 year old

I loved it.
At the end, my GF was crying and I couldn't speak for a minute.

As far as "answers" go, I was satisfied already before the finale (except for the ALT stuff). I don't know if it's a european vs american cultural thing but I feel we got too many answers in s06 actually. Some of them left a midiclorian feeling in my mouth even.

And for me, one of the "wow, they knew what they were doing moment" was the Christian Sheppard name. I had not really realised how much meaningful it was until the very last scene. Not to mention the title of the whole damn show. How can you be more LOST than in the purgatory ??

Funny stuff: while looking for more background about Christian Sheppard, I stumble upon this thread of 2006 about him and his significance: http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21887
excerpt: "Unless Jack's dad rises from the grave, I doubt his first name has much significance." :lol

He didnt travel there. He simply saw it.

He was pretty much in a near death experience due to the electromagnetic test.

He didn't. He's not ready to accept the reality of his life yet.

Are you sure that's the reason? I figure he's not ready to move on because he still has unresolved issues to take care of in this afterlife. He got forgiveness from Locke, but not from Danielle and Alex yet. He probably needs a lot more repentance before he can let himself go. Not betraying Alex again was probably just his first step in tying up loose ends.

Ever think about why Linus didn't go with them? Hurley wanted to be with his friends, made Linus the new successor and then died to be with the people he cared about. Hence the line about him being a terrific #2 and why he didn't go inside, because he wasn't dead and couldn't go with them.
I'm pretty sure Linus is dead too at that point. Otherwise, why would he be in the sideways-verse?

Oh God, are people still going on about not being told in explicit detail how the magical island with electromagnetic properties was created? Do you really want to bring a God character in to the show?
