So this post is going through lots of transformation. I've written what I wanted to write, and then editing things in and out as I skim what people have already written in the many thousands of posts before this.
So there are still gaps left from the series as a whole, but the resolution to the flash sideways stuff wrapped up that major season 6 element really well. As an afterlife it easily enough explained things like:
*Eloise's special knowledge makes sense (unlike her initial appearance in Desmond's past)
*Since time doesn't exist in the same way there, apparent inconsistencies like Locke and Sun arriving at the hospital really aren't. Also that for the last half of the season this concert has been _tonight_.
*People living out slightly twisted versions of things that really happened to them mostly make sense as something their minds would create, rather than just as a fun writing trick. Like, Sayid feeling he was too bad to deserve Nadia led to her marrying his brother in this place.
*What happened happened. Still just one set timeline after all, no branching.
However, it does open up a new set of questions. (I know people have proposed some answers to these.)
*Why Sayid and Shannon?
*So the church people and some others like Eloise and Ana-Lucia were definitely meant to be real, but what about people like Keamy?
*What does it mean for someone like Keamy to DIE in purgatory, if he was real?
*David is completely fictitious? Sayid's nieces and nephews have no objective existence?
*And what the hell about afterlife baby Aaron? Either a future-dead Aaron stuck in a baby's body, or just another completely imaginary creation that people are pretending like it matters?
*How does this connect with the ghosts seen throughout the show? Like Charlie appearing to Hurley. Did Charlie do that
before heading to "X", or is it from afterward since time doesn't work the same way in the afterlife?
Unrelated to that element, the way Desmond was able to survive the light made me think: If he'd been at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, his face wouldn't have melted.
I'm also amazed that of all the (living) endings, BEN LINUS got one of the better ones. After a life of disappointment at not being special, he gets to be the right-hand man to the island's latest protector. The bit earlier when he risked his life to save Hurley actually got a "NO WAY!" from me, for being something we don't usually see him doing.

why did eloise not want faraday to go?
In life she shot him and then fucked up his life to preserve destiny. I took it she just wanted as much time with him in this place as possible without things getting all weird and him remembering who killed him.

I mean, if they're already dead, who cares if Locke can walk? Dude's just a spirit.
It's not important that he can walk. It's important that he can work through his emotional hangups that stopped him from seeking the surgery.

Thought it was kind of funny/interesting in addition to the Oceanic 6, there was also the Ajira 6.
And I really wonder what kind of story they'll tell the world. Hurley might have more trouble to deal with if people start to think there's something really weird they should be investigating.

Dude, did you see the size of that Dharma Ranch Composite?
