Via Domus takes something like 4 hours to finish, 5 hours to get 1000/1000 gamerscore. Controls are average, island looks good, voices are fucking awful. If you're bored and looking for a Lost fix, it's worth it.

Hey is it just me or does the music here sound incredibly similar to one of the tracks from LOST? Not sure of the name but I might be thinking of "No Place Like Home".

It's from a BBC documentary series called Wonders of the Solar System.

My brother is almost done now, and I want him to be able to watch the TIMES TALKS LIVE: LOST thing. However, YouTube no longer has it.

Anyone know any other way he can watch it? I want him to watch it before the finale.

Urrrgh...

It's not just you.

So, is anyone planning on starting a Lost marathon? I've already started mine, just saw Walkabout. It still feels fresh to me, as I've only seen every episode of the entire series just once.

Lucky you. I've seen every episode at the very least twice, a lot of them many times more. During the first few seasons rewatching random episodes was a daily habit of mine. And later on I used to often watch the latest episode again mid-way through the week before the new episode airs, and watched seasons 3 and 4 again on blu-ray.

That said, seasons 3 to 6 and much more fresh in my mind the first two, so I look forward to rewatching those.

I have S1-5 on DVD, so I'll be getting the complete set in BRD. I'll rewatch the final season, then rewatch the entire show maybe next summer/fall.

No rewatch for me until the epic box set comes out :D

I've only seen the episodes once, when they aired, and several in seasons 2-5 I didn't see at all. Only 1 & 6 I watched religiously.

So yeah I'm pumped for August.

You skipped episodes of a heavily serialized show?

I haven't watched LOST in a month, even been thinking about it until I saw the Kate thread the other day and it hit me, I miss this show.

Definitely getting the complete collection, will probably rewatch the series during the holidays.

Realistically, I suspect that's how most of the general public does it.

The people like us who wouldn't even think of skipping episodes/seasons of a heavily serialized TV show are actually pretty hardcore. Even some of my more geeky friends have no problem admitting that they skip around sometimes.

Makes no sense to me though. It's like a cardinal sin in my book :lol

Something like 24 or even Dexter I can understand(I don't agree but I undersatnd) skipping an episode here or there, but you really can't do that with LOST. Even the "filler" episodes provide important context or information to some aspect of the show.

tl;dr - bitching.

It will be a long while before I ever watch this show again.

So many questions went unanswered, and the ending of the show (despite years of planning in advance) still felt rushed. And yes, I am still bitter that Locke's only purpose in life was to give Jack faith, apparently :(

John Locke died for our sins.

I loved LOST in Season 1. I got my whole family, including my wife, hooked. But around Season 2 I got VERY busy and missed eps for that reason, plus the entire hatch storyline didn't grab me much.

At that point, I sort of faded in and out.

Ironically, it was me that insisted my wife begin watching in the first place, but in the end, she ended up carrying the torch for both of us. I watched a lot more of LOST than I would have otherwise.

I watched S1 and S6 religiously, probably saw every ep of S2, most of S3. Seasons 4 & 5 I missed big chunks. In fact I'm not sure I watched much of 5 at all, because I only vaguely remember them being in the past. I know I watched the S5 finale.

Yeah same, I was just watching some clips of the finale, mostly scenes between Jack and Locke and it just reminded me how much i fucking love this show.

Im watching the Wire right now Season 4 and while its good that shit aint nowhere near as good as lost. But while i miss it im so incredibly satisfied, it just brings a smile to my face :D

All of my friends fucking despised the finale, and some of them made points to argue with me vehemently about how horrendous it was. I wasn't even trying to convince them it was good; I was just overall pleased with the depth or way in which most of the major mysteries were answered. I disliked some of the sappiness or massive plotholes, but nothing the final season or episode did diminished how much I love the show.

That's basically been my experience. I've run across so many bitter people in my real life that felt downright betrayed by the show's outcome. I can sort of sympathize. I'd be the first to agree that the show had some pretty significant flaws, especially toward the end.

But that has had very little effect on how much I admire what Damon, Carlton and crew were able to accomplish with their ever-evolving network epic. The show is irreplaceable and I'll miss it dearly. Like what Drealmcc0y was saying, I guess I'm just so satisfied with how it all wrapped up, that I can do nothing but look back on the journey with a deep sense of fondness.

Everybody I knew loved it, but their outcome was different, they loved the "sappiness", or whatever you call something being happy and nice, and they didn't notice any plotholes (me neither), but the lack of a name for the villain was confusing for them.

I think this is actually my only real gripe with the show. I understand them having to drop the Walt stuff (though they could have done exposition style, whatever) but they never gave him a name and they danced crazily around it and it was annoying as fuck.

I hated the finale. It made the whole show a waste of time.

So they were dead all along? Fuuuuuuuuuck that.

I don't think quoting your avatar works in this case as much as imagining Amy and the Doc coming out of the Tardis and seeing it.

:lol

It boggles my mind when people say it made the whole show a waste of time.

How do people come to this conclusion?????

I know someone who said he wasted 6 years of his life on it.

Why?????

I started watching LOST from beginning to end right after season 6 ended.

I'm going to start the series finale episode right now but I don't want it to end. : (

Cool!

I hope it doesn't ruin the last month for you! :P

Was there a significance to the wreckage being shown in the last shot? That I didn't get but everything else....speechless.

No. It was inserted by ABC as a come-down before going to the news.

fucking disappointing finale. I had a feeling they wouldn't be able to explain everything after watching Across the sea, but they went way too far explaining
[NOTHING
. It's just pretentious bullshit, oh look the show is about the people not the mysteries, well thanks for fuck, mysteries were a fucking integral part of the show, one of the reasons that kept people glued to it.

it won't ruin the opinion I have for the show, but it sure left me appalled and shocked

They weren't dead all along. They survived the plane crash. Everything to do with the island was real.

Every time this thread gets bumped back up, I know that on the page one person will say they were dead all along. :lol Amazing that people managed to keep up with all the mysteries of the show and yet can't understand the one thing the show actually spelled out clearly.

WRT the map: Considering they walk along the beach to find the cable in the sand, no way are Jacob's cave and the Lighthouse at those locations

Even though I liked the finale, I've definitely turned on this point since then. The more I think of it, the more that argument loses its weight, even though I may have used it in my post-finale haze. Yeah, the characters were ultimately more important than the mythology, but it doesn't excuse them fucking one over for the other. For 5 seasons they slowly provided satisfying answers, but it kinda just seemed like they got tired of the mythology they created, because it got really sloppy near the end.

For them to have three years to plan this shit out, fully knowing how important the mythology and mysteries were to the show, and then come out with the "well you should have been watching for the characters" excuse at the end is pretty fucking lame.

I don't want this to seem like a full on hate post, because I still love the show and the creators, buying the full set as soon as I can. But, looking back on it, Darlton always using that line near the end was so bullshit.

They've been saying "it's about the characters" for years now.

And there's hardly anything left that hasn't already been answered, whether through inference or direct explanation.

Bullshit. What about the polar bears, smartguy?!

My problem with it is less things being left unanswered, but things being handled really lazily. The sickness and the whole Jacob/MIB story in particular. The sickness was shit because it basically worked whenever it wanted to and could be broken with a pep talk. Everything we got about Jacob and MIB really felt half-assed as well, it felt like the writers decided right before writing the episode that the two would be naive brothers.

Richard's episode was perfect because it fit right in with the level of storytelling and back story we expect from Lost. Across the Sea in every way fell short of what we expect from the show. And to have that happen to the biggest mythological episode, maybe in the whole series, is just disappointing.
Agreed on all points. Seriously.

So, I was just listening to "There's no place like home" here at work through my headphones.. I just kinda.. closed my eyes, and felt a huge rush through my body.

You know when you get the feeling of being relaxed or happy or whatever, and your holy body kinda just tingles and goes numb for a sec? Just had that.

It's amazing how much a musical cue can do to you.
