Wow, well I'm surprised... my dad is officially addicted to Lost. This is the guy that is the typical Asian (specifically, from Pakistan) dad in that it's all about the studies and nothing else matters. He doesn't watch much TV (aside from the news and stuff) and not many movies. It's totally unlike him to be into a TV show this much.
I got him to watch Part 1 of the Pilot, and he said it was okay. The next day I told him to watch Part 2 and he was like "why do you want me to keep watching? are you trying to get me hooked on this?" He watched it, and the next few days we watched one episode at a time. A few days ago, it switched to two episodes. I wanted to start my series re-watch, so I figured this would be a good time to do that and get to watch it alongside my dad, though I expected him to quit after a few episodes.
So yesterday, we ended up watching three episodes (ending with "Hearts and Minds"). I go up to my room to do other stuff and a little while later I hear the familiar sound that plays on the LOST title screen, so I check downstairs and he's started another episode (this one being "Special"). For him, that was shocking to me. It's unlike him to just start watching episodes of a show without me, so I knew he was addicted at that point. But today... wow. I come back from work and he watched four episodes while I was gone (ending with "Numbers"). I ended up watching two episodes with him and then we ate dinner... only to watch two more. He watched EIGHT episodes today, which is so out of the ordinary for him.
So yea, I'm actually really shocked right now. Who knows how long this will last, but he is totally hooked. I expect he'll watch the season 1 finale while I'm at work tomorrow and we'll probably start season 2 tomorrow at this rate. Normally we don't have much that we like in common, so at least this will give us something to talk about.
