Hmm....what prop from the show would you guys like to own?

Chose one, and keep it reasonable! Not a whole set, for example.

It'd be pretty cool to have the letter that John wrote to Jack, I think.
The Virgin Mary statue is an iconic piece from the show. I would want that.

Got my Blu-Ray Complete Collection from Amazon today. It's my wife's Xmas present to me.

As I suspected, all the packaging and extras are incredibly lame. A brand new piece of paper made to look aged/burnt around the edges, a plastic Ankh... etc. Does anyone really like this stuff, or actually believe it is truly "collectible" in any way?

Or maybe it's just me. 8+ years of E3 have taught me to ignore tchotchkes, trinkets, and baubles of pretty much every type. You might think you want that that little Link figurine (or whatever) but in truth that shit just ends up cluttering your house for 3+ years until you throw it out. So now I don't bother.

Still... I've heard the Blu-Ray transfers are literally some of the best in existence... the show itself is why I bought the set. 36 discs of LOST goodness. Very excited to begin an epic re-watch. Although for me, much of it will be a first-time watch. I saw all of season 1 and all of season 6, but large portions of the show I missed out on. I never watched anything from season 4, for example. I estimate I've probably watched only half of LOST's episodes.

$125 (Amazon's lightning deal) is a great price for all six seasons. I'm gonna be upset if a $100 bare-bones box et comes out next year though, with just the discs.

PS: Not happy with the tall cardboard slider the disks themselves are housed in, either. Who has a shelf that size? My plan was to pitch everything and just keep the disk holders, but now I don't know where I can house them, either.

Did you look...uh...closely at the....uh...the ankh?

I hate trinkets and gimmicky special editions too (used to love them). Now I prefer my media in minimal, practical packaging.

Absolutely. That's one of my favorite things about the Blu-Ray revolution, in fact. The thinner cases make a huge difference. My entire BR collection fits nicely in one little shelf, and I have a lot of them. In comparison it feels like I have regular DVD cases spilling out of every closet.

You...uh....try checking it out.

Five posts have now been wasted on this, when you could have just replied from the start letting me know what was up with the Ankh. Why be cryptic?

Or maybe it's appropriate since this is the LOST topic.

Or I could just google it.

Fake edit: back from googling. I guess that's kind of neat. It's certainly elaborate.... nice fan service. But for me it's kind of annoying. Now I have to keep it if I want to remember how to access the senet video. -_-

Geez sorry. Thought you might want to be surprised yourself, you know, since it was HIDDEN.

:lol

Good lord.

Well given that my first post was contemplating whether I should just throw all that stuff in the trash, it should have been safe to assume that I don't really care about being spoiled about the set's secrets :lol

Glad I read up, though. Would have sucked to trash it all before getting the secret disk out. :lol

So what's on the hidden disc again? I never found that out (don't have the set).

The hidden disc is basically just the bonus box set disc, whose contents are on the box itself (I forget what they are, but it's not a surprise). There are other clues that lead to what is basically an explanation of sideways universe.

Just finished LAX Pt2. That Jack/Locke scene will messes with my spinal cord. Delicious. TOQ is such an imposing antogonist...so good. His monologue about John Locke...

Well, lots of "so good"s to go around.

And watching this in HD for the first time=LOST Afterlife of hugs and kisses.

I'm glad the complete series is back up on Netflix Instant. Not ready to re-watch the whole thing yet, but this is the time of year I'd be watching random episodes to gear up for the new season...so I have the itch.

Thinking about just going through all of the finales, starting with Exodus, this weekend.

It still seems too soon to rewatch the complete series again. I think I'm gonna wait a minimum one year before I start season 1.

I'm planning on this summer being my Summer of the rewatch. Scrubs and Lost and Arrested for sure.

But having them on instant is awesome, I'd love to go back to random episodes every once in a while.

Ok, I give in. I want more Lost.

At this point I wouldn't give a fuck if a new set of characters wound up on the island. When you're hungry, you'll eat anything.

Lost: The Dharma Years

Featuring: The Fucking Cabin and What The Fuck Was The Deal With The Purge, Like Really?

I might do a re-watch February. Having no lost during those months is gonna be odd. Plus I need something to watch during that season.

I with you.. They could pick up Hurley, Ben and Des(?) on the Island. I'd even put with a retread of the "We have to go back" arc, of course this time involving the
Ajira Six". Fuck it. The Walking Dead confirmed for me a valuable lesson: As much as I might love new shows, and as amazing they may be, they're not LOST.

Landing: Parts 1 & 2.

get to it Darlton!

First story in a long time that I wanted to see more installments of.

At least make books, darn it.

I'd love a 'tell all' book from either Darlton or Gregory Nations.

I think that Darlton were better writers than storytellers, and they had trouble executing some of the plan that they had spent so much time concocting. I'd be willing to bet that there is a lot of information that didn't reach the show in anything more than fragments...and that would be interesting to read about.

When they say in the enyclopedia that we only saw the tip of the iceberg, I believe them.

Want....

edit - €103, in total, to get it to Ireland :/

Am I more or less predictable than your amusingly recurring inability to ignore me despite the best efforts of your account settings?

Then again, I wasn't talking to you.
(but it sure looks like you believe in ignoring questions)

I took you off when I saw you post in The Event thread, I wanted to see what you had written.

OMG

My girlfriend is in Florida visiting relatives, she got some Christmas moolah and said she was going shopping and may get me something... I just get an image text from her, and

SHE GOT ME THE FUCKING LOST ENCYCLOPEDIA :D :D :D

Just finished the series. Enjoyed Season 6 much more than Season 5. The series definitely has its flaws:

Sentimentality
Some really sloppy writing
Lots of instances of Cliches
Writing that is really manipulative to the audience

However, it also does some things that we definitely need more of in all of art, not just television, including:

Dealing with the metaphysical
Extremely strong sense of symbolism
Aesthetically very interesting (In locale, characters, shots, music)
Whole episodes devoted to fleshing out characterization

It was a really great experience, and cemented itself as my second favorite show (behind The Sopranos). I read an article a few months back in Rolling Stone, but I can't find it now. Any idea what that was?

This is all very true.

Lost was great. I find it hard to relate/care about characters in shows nowadays thanks to Lost's indepth characters. I miss Lost.

Desmond on the phone man... breaks my heart every single DAMN time.

"my god, Penny, is that you?"

The Constant isn't my favorite episode of LOST(it's certainly up there) but as far as the best episode upon first time viewing, it might be the best episode of anything.

Is that the episode where he goes to her house?

Its the episode you just referred to in your last post, man.

I know I was just wondering if those two scenes were in the one episode. Most of lost just blends together for me so I have no idea where anything is. I just know the phone bit is in the constant :lol .

I watched the whole series (again) on the Blu Ray collector's edition. I like what they did with Locke and Jack now that I can judge everything with hindsight. I also like how Sawyer becomes less narcisstic and more of a leader as Jack moves to a more faith oriented approach.
Even though I knew everything that happened, I was still dissapointed when it ended. Obviously the writers managed to get their point across, but the characters are so compelling, I wanted to spend more time with them. Why was season 4 only 13 episodes? What happened there?
