No its just cuz the people who hated on it, were never fans in the first place and theres alot of casuals who watch lost who dont like it because they still ask questions that have already been answered.

Erigu loves it now though.

Also, this is official soundtrack for Jack vs Locke:

Just got my Encyclopedia... complete awesome thing for just £10 :D

I already feel like buying a second copy that I can keep clean and tidy, and toss this one on a table for all to read :D

lol yeah, i feel you, the comments are a mess. I read like 8 of 'em and I was done. All the intense negativity and heated debates are behind me now, I think. Live and let live, I'm too old for this shit :lol

wasn't expecting those poll results, though.

The poll results say it all really.

80% loved the finale

20% hated the finale

the opposite for the comment section

yup. Very telling. Vocal minority at it's finest.

I find it amusing how Lost fans, who are so quick to find hidden meanings or alternate explanations the writers never thought of (as they don't give a shit) when it comes to their favorite show, are so quick to go "yep, 'can't think of another interpretation for that one!" :lol

Could it be that most people who thought she show sucked wouldn't bother clicking on Lost-related articles or voting in polls?
Could it be that Lost fans find it hard to defend the show in an articulate fashion?
Very telling, indeed!

But wait, that's not what Lindelof and Cuse are saying about the reception of their show, so that can't be right. Word of God, people.

Clearly not. I know at least one person who involves posting and talking about a show they think sucks.

"Most people". And I never pretended my habit of seeing stupid shows through was a particularly common one.

Then again, even I hadn't bothered clicking on that link, and I didn't vote in that poll either (nor do I remember ever voting in such a poll, really).
And yeah, I don't find it hard to attack the show in an articulate fashion, indeed.
So I guess you got me good, there. Or something like that.

But I clicked on the link just now, and if anything, the poll results actually contradict what Lindelof and Cuse were saying: very few people changed their mind, in that sample.
But never mind that: let's just claim everybody loves the finale (clearly!), and explain how that means that those who didn't aren't all that bright and simply needed time to realize it was a work of staggering genius.

I agree with you that I dont think that many people changed their minds since the finale, its just that the finale divided the true fans from the non fans.

But that kinda goes without saying, doesn't it? I mean... Couldn't you say the same thing about any show out there?
(not that I would, personally... this "true fan" thing makes me uneasy)

I am a huge fan of the show; it was my #1 favorite form of entertainment and escapism during its 6-year runtime. Absolutely nothing could compare or compete for my feverish love for the show, I was a LOST evangelist... But I was disappointed in the finale (not for any lack of answers).

With that said, I didn't hate the finale; I loved many parts of it and enjoyed most of it. But I didn't like how certain key things were handled which made consider it to be a letdown overall.

Thats cool, what didnt you like about it?

I personally didnt like the Sayid and Shannon scene and the Charlotte and Faraday scene.

I never bought either relationship.

I didn't like the spiritual ending and the whole X-timeline = purgatory thing (I loved the scenes of every couple realizing the truth though, they were very emotional.) I would have much preferred a non bow-tie ending; something more open to interpretation and speculation. Even a cheap cliffhanger/mindfuck would have been better IMO. But that probably would have angered a lot more people than the real finale did, and I'm not that selfish :)

I guess you could say people wanted more answers, I wanted less.

Wait, there was a Charlotte and Faraday scene? I can't remember it! :lol

I only watched the finale once, and I was very very high (it was a ritual of mine to toke up before every new episode, and I overdid for the finale). I am looking forward to watching it again sometime in the future (I'm purposefully holding out on that).

In a way, i suppose it is, it is an opinion after all.

But I cant for the life of me see how any lost fan couldnt like this episode.

It had the best special effects since the pilot.

It has the best soundtrack in the entire show. Michael Giacchino said himself, it was like a movie in terms of music.

The acting was just top tier during the whole thing, and Lilly, Garcia and Fox produced probably the best performances they have ever done in the show and the usual excellence from Emerson and O quinn.

It was by far the most emotional episode of the show aswell.

It has arguably the best bit of directing Jack Bender has ever done.

It has some of the most epic scenes in the whole show: Jack vs Locke, Desmond and the Cork, ajira taking off.

The writing was very good aswell.

Its the ultimate lost episode.

Really, now?

Well, at least, that one ended up at the bottom of your list. :lol

Lots of moments in the finale made me chuckle.

The scene where Jack and Locke standoff "Im gonna kill you" "Thats a suprise" were awesome.

The scene at the top of the waterfall "You disrespect his memory by wearing his face but you're nothing like him" awesome.

The whole final dialouge between Jack and Christian was just wonderful.

Darlton poured their soul into this episode.

I was wondering why the MiB wasn't killing everybody, during that scene... I mean, if he wanted to destroy the island (for some reason), he only needed Jack and Desmond, right?
Too bad he didn't kill Kate, for instance! :lol

The scene at the top of the waterfall "You disrespect his memory by wearing his face but you're nothing like him" awesome.
'Didn't make me forget how Locke killed a woman he didn't even know just because Walt told him to (for some reason)...

Well, I thought the whole "it was limbo!" twist was beyond retarded and an obvious, late change of plans, so I can't quite follow you on that one, obviously...

For me, it was more evidence that they just never gave a shit.

Late change of plans? The flash sideways being an epilogue was a perfect way of both summarizing the whole series and giving closure at the same time. And it was hardly a late change of plans considering what went into it, what made you think that it was?

The finale could have been 90 minutes of Lindeloff giving raspberries while making a jerkoff motion with his hand, and Cuse just flipping off the camera - and these people still would be able to come up with reasons why it was the perfect ending.

An epilogue, yeah, sure. I mean, they weren't exactly subtle about that, what with alter-Jack having that mysteriouuuus wound on his neck, right off the bat.
But limbo? Nah.
I'd be willing to bet that the flash-sideways were really meant to be another timeline, but as they were writing the last episodes of the show, the writers went "you know what? fuck that shit! we'll just say it was limbo all along! knowing our fans, they might even think that's deep and spiritual, so it's win/win!"

None of this matters when the story makes no sense

This is possible.

mcc0y, while I appreciate your enthuiasm and all, you don't have to convince anyone of anything. Just let your opinion be, man.

Makes sense to me.

Btw you say the show makes no sense, but when was the last time you even watched some of the older episodes?
Why was the top secret plan of the smoke monster to make himself mortal and very killable?

If Widmore and the Smoke Monster were on different sides of the same "war", why did they both want to accomplish the same objective?

It was just lousy storytelling, the entire final season. The final season of a show should wrap outstanding plotlines up - not create a million new plotlines. The ending was a cheap emotional trick, to show characters reuniting with dead people and loved ones and have some musical swell up six or seven times - and it seemed to work on everyone in this thread.

Seriously?

:lol

MiB: Jack! GRRRRRRRR!
Jack: Vague Nemesis! GRRRRRRRR!
MiB: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Jack: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Where are you going with Desmond, like that?!
MiB: I was thinking of putting him in the magical cave! 'Cause I'm EVIIIIIL!
Jack: You... What, really?
MiB: Er... Yeah? ... Sucks for you, huh?!
Jack: Actually, I was thinking of doing the same thing...
MiB: ... But why? ... Because you're...
Jack: ... Good. Yeah.
MiB: ...
Jack: ...
MiB: Well, we could go together, I guess.
Jack: Yeah? Desmond?
Desmond: Whatevah...

So you disagree that Widmore and MIB both wanted Desmond to do the exact same thing?

Something i think is very cool, that was never said in the show, is that Jacob had a loophole to kill MiB.

Jacob knew that MiB wanted nothing more than to leave the island. He knew that he was chained to the island unless the cork was popped and the MiB would take all the evil with him.

So MiB had to use Desmond to pop the cork so he was no longer chained to the island.

But Jacob knew that when this would happen, MiB would lose his powers.

It seems like Dave didnt understand the finale.

haha :lol

So why wouldn't Jacob tell someone this? Maybe Jack when he was giving him First Communion?

It's sloppy, horrible writing. But I don't know what else I expected from a show that has one character who can make up completely arbitrary rules whenever he wants and everyone on the island has to follow them

Except for when the writers fuck up and they don't

Really? Because that's never said on the show, and the MiB didn't seem so concerned about destroying the island until Widmore whispered something about Desmond in his ear.
('gotta love how the MiB then finds the well empty and acts like "Desmond's gone, but that actually serves my plans! all according to keikaku!" no, it doesn't, you dumbass...)

dave is ok said:

Yeah, gotta love how Jack somehow assumes that "surely, that's what Jacob had in mind!", when the same Jacob, hours before, upon being asked how the MiB could be killed, was all "huuuuuh... no idea! sorry, guys! but good luck saving the world anyway!"

A lot of Erigu in here...I have him on ignore, though.

Let me guess, he and his Aspergers are quoting single lines of posts and trying to refute every one of them?

Show's been over since May, brah. Time to let go.
